Lureen would say Jack was selfish for driving 14 hours to be with Ennis instead of staying home and doing his salesman job. Ennis would say Jack was selfish for seeing other men. Jack would say Ennis was selfish for refusing to see him more than once or twice a year and only out in the middle of nowhere. This just shows how complicated and tangled their lives were. In other words, they were human, dealing with an impossible situation. This is a love story and love is complicated. For Ms. Ladd to try to put a spin on it to serve her own promotional purposes is a cheap shot if you ask me.
