Thank you Kathy. :) Here's another pic.

Is he allready wondering something.. ?? With Randall, i mean.

Oh, I know!  This one is really meaningful, too, the way he looks away.  I don't think so much of his wondering about Randall, as it is directly following their looking in each other's eyes across the table, and obviously, they can't be doing that, and besides, the look is so intense, that someone had to look away first, and maybe it was Jack.  Absolutely amazing, Jake -- and all the actors.  Such subtlety yet so rich and expressive.

Good evening hear too. :)

Jack looks mighty good in purple, no?
Ah, the pornstache....*sigh*

Yes, indeed -- the purple.  He is definitely the best looking guy at that dance!  And is the first one at home when he was looking for his jacket?  Why was he all dressed up looking for his coat to go away fishing?

I don't think a moustache needs to always be called a pornstache.  I've always loved men with (nicely trimmed) moustaches and beards, too.  And the men in my family always had moustaches.  They're nice -- they're not just from the 70's porn flicks or something.  I don't know how they got that name.  But nonetheless, he looks divine with it.  (As he does at the MTV awards.)  However, he's got such a gorgeous shapely upper lip, that I don't love having that hidden.

pre-pornstache ;)

that last pic makes me real sad :(

Me, too.  That whole scene is about my least favorite of all (besides tire-iron).  It's just so uncomfortable with stupid Mr. and Mrs. Newsome there, and the cutesy-but-sterile little house he doesn't belong in, and especially the way L.D. treats him.

Kathy, I know what you mean about not wanting to look at this pic because Randall is across the table from Jack.  I think that the eye contact between them is more of a flash of "understanding" that they both are attracted to men.  I don't see it as checking each other out.  The look Jack give Randall on the park bench after Randall propositions him is one of distance and longing for Ennis IMO.  At least that's what I tell myself.   ;)
Quote

Okay, well, he's reading Randall's interest, that's for sure, if not giving off any of his own.  It could well be as you said -- just the acknowledgment between them that they've got each other's numbers.  It certainly is obvious on the bench outside that the idea of going off with Randall doesn't do it for Jack (yet he apparently does so anyway).

Forgive me if I posted this here before, but I think not.  It's Jack and Ennis, but I think okay to post here ince we're talking about Jack in this particular scene...  It's one I put together with one of the scenes in Somebody New in mind.  Unless you're a purist about the movie, you can look at this beautiful Jack without thinking about Randall.

So I guess there will be a YouTube vid about tonight's thing on E!  Sexiest Brunettes, men and women.  Jake is number five.  A great piece on him -- cute, fun and sexy.  Amusing and true comments from people about him, too.  I'm kind of too tired to give a full report on what he said and what they said and what they showed, but I'm sure someone will.  I was disappointed, though, that none of the shots of him were from BBM.  Like they showed a bit from Jarhead -- guess which one.  But he surely is at his sexiest in BBM...

He is totally charming, besides sexy.

Is it just me, but I find E! not particularly sympathetic to Jake.  Of course, they have stronger ties with the stars who hubby up to them, but I find Paris Hilton and the whole bunch so unbearably tiresome these days...

Another convention they follow is that #1 is always given to a female actor.  In many ways, I think this is misplaced chivalry -- smacking slightly of sexist conventions still so typical of Hollywood.

Eric Bana is #2.  I liked him in 'Munich', hated him in 'Troy' but otherwise appreciate his acting and his looks.  But comparing him and Jake, there is a wide wide world of difference.   Is he ahead of Jake?  Not by my accounting...

Am I biased?  Go figure...

Is anyone ahead of Jake?! I don't care if I'm baised. I know what I know! :)

Dozy embrace <^( <^(

The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.

Quoting whole poems in this thread is forbidden, but I cannot express myself fully in prose when I see this pic.  It is at the summit of beauty.  Beyond words.

And also a little sad because we know what he is thinking.  Ennis could not accept that it was Jack that he held, and maybe they had never gotten beyond that.  Let be, let be. :\'(

I do like his sense of play.  He looks here that he has the heart of a child.  That's probably the reason why he is so loveable...

Mmmmm, I like that he didn't button the bottom buttons on his shirt.  That's right Jake; show off those abs.  When he dresses like that, I think the most sinful thoughts . . .  :i

This will certainly do.  :)

Seriously, his looks kill, no matter what posture, no matter what he wears.  Clean-shaven or scruffy, boyish or more mature, he defines beauty.
