This picture is sooo HOT :d) <^( <^(

Sure is, "even though he's young" :)  Actually, quite a different photo.  Lighting makes even the shape of his face look different -- it just doesn't quite look like Jake really.  But boy, those eyes, and those lips!!

You're so right -- it is no way just looks.  No way.  But he is so gifted in his looks also.

Now tell me, is it really just his soulful acting -- you're telling me "the hots" don't enter into it at all with you?  ;)

kathy

I would be a fool if I said that looks did not factor into the equation.  :)

But I would be the first to admit that Jake is not your classic American beauty.   And he is not exactly the epitome of the thespian bad boy that titilates so many Hollywood fans.

But Jake is far from insipid.  And as Ang Lee had said, he is the perfect romantic lead.  There is a sensitivity and elegance to his acting that couples beautifully with his dark, handsome features.  And there is a great deal of understatement in the way he looks and the way he acts.  All this belies a natural intelligence that informs his choice of roles, his selection of directors and co-stars to work with, and the public persona  he projects.

By popular acclaim, I would wager that there are other actors in Hollywood who would get the majority vote when it comes to "most sexy" or "most handsome/beautiful".  Being "sexy" and beautiful can mean a lot of things to many people.  For me, it is the entire package.  Very few actors can match Jake's total persona.   I would like to think that Jake's fans are also a cut above the average.  He deserves no less.

I was just being silly, razzing you for not having the hots for Jake like so many of us do.  You are so right, though, and you say it so well, what it is that makes him such a beautiful person/handsome man.  All those fascinating things that he is as a person, certainly do come to play in everything about how he presents his looks.

Both of them, extraordinary young men, yes?  To have come together for this BBM creation...kismet.

Oopps!  And I just said in my previous post that he is not the epitome of a Hollywood bad boy.  :)

Well, most of the time...  ;)

LOL!  No, he isn't that Hollywood bad boy -- he can just look like that if he wants to.  And he can act up and be a goofy guy when he's drunk, etc.  But no, he's not out to give the establishment the finger or whatever motivates some of the other people that supposedly scorn all the B.S. but yet are perpetrating their own form of B.S.  That is not him.

I still think this picture's funny. I don't know why, but I do.

 :8  :8  :8

I think it's because it is not your typical Jake look.  It's a bit more on the purely physical, and he clearly doesn't know what to do with himself. ;)

It's an attempt of a Jake beefcake shot that doesn't work out for some folks...

Too young, that's why -- hadn't grown into himself yet.  Though there may have been other shots from this shoot that captured him more naturally, yes?

I love Jake in tones of sepia...  Sometimes he looks chiarascura (sp?), very black and white almost.  But in a picture like this, he is shades of beautiful browns.

There is something about men who love to cook that appeals to me.  It shows an appreciation of the finer things in life, no?

As to baking, it's more of the chemistry, I suspect, that he has trouble with.  ;)

It's the finer things in life...and cooking is also something you generally do for other people -- to please on a very sensual level, to nurture, to entertain, to serve.  Those are wonderful things.  (Unless he's one of the Type A Iron Chef kind of guys...but I don't get that idea.  More like an Emeril than Iron Chef.)

*Fainted*

His great eyes...

Let's not forget the lips, and the look, and the beauty mark, and the.... I can go on and on.. <^(

That beauty mark is classic -- it's in the exact spot that women used to put on a fake one.  Isn't that an oddity, how that used to be a common thing, accentuating a "beauty mark"?  Well, maybe he's bringing it back :)  What is the hole in his forehead though?  An old acne scar?  Doesn't seem like he had acne problems, since we were privy to seeing him those years.

Like father, like son. His dad ain't bad at all ;) :)

So true.  Of course I like his mom -- we're about the same age.  She could do herself up a bit more for special events, but I'm just as glad she doesn't.  I have seen some fascinating pix of her, though.  Anyway, I see the family resemblance among all three of them except Jake.  He so stands out.

Right at first I thought that's a violin bow.  And then I'm like, oh -- be still my heart...  That would be too much for me, if he also played some beautiful instrument like that.  I think I'd just go ahead and faint whether I needed to or not.

Twisted, will you quit it??  What time zone are you in anyway?  Don't you have to go to bed?  Once again, I can't get past Jake Pix tonight!  Help!

Post-Jarhead hairstyle.  :)

Dumb question, but not the kind of fan who knows everything.  Did Jake do Jarhead right before BBM?  Or after?  Sometimes movies come out not in order?  I know the order of Heath's last five or so movies, but not Jake's.

Now I happen to like very much his look in the series from which this pic came from.  He is still young, but there is a more mature hardness in his eyes.

You're right Tom -- that's a very specific and interesting period of his.  I see exactly what you mean.  And BTW, I'm thinking a lot of the "mature" look has to do with a more full face, don't you think?

I love the twist of his torso in this.  Always like his poses.  Nice shirt, too, probably a sleeveless/tank.

Didn't I read that he is "double-jointed," which means he can do all sorts of weird things?  Hmmm...
