I loved the teapot pose.  <^(

The expressions on their faces were just hilarious.

They were quite charming -- being abashed -- in my estimation...  :)

Yes.  I don't know whether this fluctuation in physical build is good for someone this young...

Well, I don't think it's good for anyone, is it?  Worse when you're younger, not settled into your normal adult size?

kathy

He looks so good in any build, nonetheless.  Not so sure which I prefer.  I don't think I like him too built-up.   And I don't mind him sleek...

I'd still like him fat...but if we're talking about ideal preferences here then the quite muscular shape he had in Brokeback Mountain and after in Jarhead take a lot of beating..and if you're a geek to be kind, thoughtful and intelligent, give me a geek over a He Man man any day. I read a quote from Gwyneth Paltrow where she said that if you weren't sniffing coke off a hookers ass you were percieved as being boring in Hollywood, so all things considered I'm glad they think he's a geek! ;)

Well now my new favorite colour is green :) ;) ;D
This is a fabulous photograph anyway, the dingy town but with some splashes of pastel, and then him in pastel.  The composition:  he is like the vanishing point but the opposite.

kathy

If you will allow me to be a bit academic: his vertical pose is echoed by the post and the person walking on the sidewalk behind him; the horizonal arm is balanced by the horizontal bulk of the car to the left of the pic.  :)

There's also something about this photo, maybe it's the slightly out of focus person on the sidewalk and the signs, that make him look especially around the head area, like he's been superimposed onto the scene....

When he smiles like this, I feel a bit insecure.  It is such a knowing smile  -- it feels that you are party to some dreamed-of mischief...

That's a darling feeling you've got there, Tom!

kathy

Thanks kathy.  He does seem to bridge the gap between him and the spectator in most of his pix.  :)

Our handsome Jake :-*
I'm finding I like it about any length, I mean this basic layered cut, close-cropped at ears, neck.  When his hair is long, it's not long per se, but big -- just wildly sticking out.  Though I'd like to see him with long hair -- I swoon over men with actual long hair -- if it's well-kept that is.  This is my 60's background.  (But Heath is the exception to my rule that longer hair should be well-kept.)

I'm getting punch-drunk.  I swear, it's 10:30 pm here and I haven't even gotten to any "discussion" threads or what have you.  Another night with Jake Pix!

kathy

It's more challenging to make long hair in men look good, IMO.  But when it works, it is indeed magic.  :)

The way they are looking at each other is really nice here. Maggie has the same lovely colouring as Jake.

I love the way they smile at each other.  :)

I want to be that trophy #)

Beautiful pic.  The trophy is a visual and textural  contrast to his luminous form...

 :d)

There is something captivating when he is in black and white clothing.  Is it the contrast with his face, eyes, and complexion?

The flowers are beautiful, but there's something more beautiful behind the flowers... :)

frances posted this same pic a long time ago and I never grow tired of it.  As I said long ago, the eyes command you into silence and admiration. It is always Spring.

This one is so cute :-* :-*

Yes, the trousers and color scheme.... He makes the color scheme work...

The clash of formal and informal elements are beautifully captured!

Confusing indeed. I couldn't focus on anything when i look at this pic..
The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.

He confuses on many levels.  Is he man-boy or a boy-man?  Is he insolent or inviting?  Is is extroverted or introverted?  Is he fun-loving or soulful?  Formal or informal? Intelligent or heart-centric?  The million and one shades of Jake Gyllenhaal...

I second that! :) They can call him what they want- OUR standards mean more than Hollywoods.
