Loreen,I love the way you compare the two nights: In SNIT they only remove the wall ruins and every possibility was open. Even if I think that the only possibility that was open that second night was the one of discovering themselves in every sense and feel free as they wouldn't be anymore.

MPJ,  :t)

The possibilities were open 100%. It was their choice/mistake to limit those possibilities with unnecessary boundaries.  :(

And they didn't.Not that night, nor these happy times in BBM.What follows,it's another history, unfortunately.
Ennis’s eyes gone bright with shock, mouth opening then closing again. “Love?” Ennis said finally, voice strangling in his throat.

Jack smiled sad. “Yeah, Ennis. Love.” Leaned forward and kissed Ennis’s temple, whispered, “What’d you think it was, all this time?”

It's really sad to think of it. How the love was managed for 20 yrs., the love they had was was defintly right and right there but since when can love be managed?  We cannot say what we will or won't do for it huh? Right or wrong , love  lead them.

During FNIT, I wonder if it dawned on Ennis that all the time on the mountain that summer, Jack never mentioned a woman, girlfriend or fiance'. Ennis himself had one, and spoke of her breifly to Jack. Jack spoke of his father, and his mother, rodeoing , Ennis's upbringing  seeking the reasons why  Ennis was so closed up etc. around the camp fires, ..and so the subject becomes ...Did Jack have prior  sexual experiences with men?. I mean, he did make a play for the clown...Could  some of the same opinions discussed in the "Was Ennis Gay?? thread apply to Jack as well? Maybe this deserves it's own thread....but was Jack gay? Just askin....Thanx.

Please go to "Was Jack Gay? or Straight?  but in love. The Was Jack Gay? with Experience?  Thread has been merged with that one. It should be a very interesting discussion. ;)  :t)

Is it the truth that at first they only did FNIT, and later decided to shoot SNIT?

I wonder how BBM would look like without SNIT? It would be completely different movie!

Thank God that we have it!  <^(

If I remember correctly, Ang always intended for SNIT to be in the Movie so the audience would "connect" w/ their love.

I agree with him! 100%!  :)

But I am glad that they had FNIT all the same.  It was more abrupt and a bit unnerving to many viewers, but I think it showed how clumsy and awkward things were at the beginning -- and understandably so.

I forgot to say: glad that you're back tpe! Hope you had a great time!  ^f^

The more I watch, the lovelier FNIT looks like. Clumsy, but adorable!  <^(

No matter how abrupt, awkward or,even violent,FNIT can seem to many viewers; as everything in the movie,it has a reason of being. An explosion of something that was growing between them, that couldn't be expressed by words and that, with alcohol help, was said in a more radical way-to see it in some way... ^-^.What opened up the doors to the realisation of something deeper after the first moments of confusion and tension, and that led to SNIT.For me,both scenes are perfect in their meaning and way of express them.

Oh, how I agree on this one mpj!  <^(

There is only one thing - I have always wanted to see a bit more of SNIT at least a few seconds....

About the reunion kiss. I would like to see when Ennis slams Jack on the wall and kisses him - to actually see the kiss, that is - from a different angle! To see their lips come together, not only Ennis' backhead!  :i

Aha,you're nasty,Loreen ¡ >:D But you see their lips come together right after the wall kiss...And how ¡¡¡ :d)
If we must be nasty then,I'd say that I had liked to see the beginning of the motel scene, just to realise the strenght of their passion... ::)

For me, they are "perfect" in the sense that the progression is so natural -- for me at least.  Their meaning for me is in terms of a gradual opening up.  That this meaning remains imperfect and ambiguous in places is part of the overall perfection, if you don't take this to be contradictory.

Well, I always thought that the motel scene was all after the fact -- not exactly a vivid sex scene, no?

There is enough suggestion in the sex scenes, I would say -- enough for our imaginations to chew on.  :)

Well, it was after the facts, but it was also (with reunion kiss included) the most passionate moment of all. And it wouldn't hurt anyone if they showed us a few seconds of that passion!   ;) #)

Personally, I look at it first of all as a relaxed and intimate moment between the two of them --- as post-coital scenes are wont to be.  But yes, there is enough suggestion of the sweat and smell of sex to keep us on our toes.
