PSH on David Letterman
« on: Feb 23, 2006, 07:08 AM »
Was Phillip Seymour Hoffman's appearance on David Letterman's Show last night(dressed as Ennis) a concession or maybe an endorsement of Heath???   Also telling about the bet he made to bark his acceptance speech till removed from the stage may have the AMPAS folks wondering....

I saw PSH on Letterman, and noticed that he was very casually dressed for a
not very attractive man; not meant as a dig at his looks, but if you're not
handsome it seems like a good idea to dress well for TV appearances.

I didn't notice that he was dressed like Ennis, however, but he may have been.
I don't have a very good eye for fashion statements.

Ah I think it's ok for a man who wear what he wants.  I mean he knows he isn't a handsome
guy so whatever...  I like Philip, I mean I am sorry the timing sucks and he will
win over Heath but I much admire him.

He was one of my favorite actors until he came into conflict with BBM,
so he's a villian this week.  I'm sure I'll like him again though.  The
movies I've seen him in are

Twister
Boogie Nights
The Big Lebowski
Patch Adams
The Talented Mr. Ripley
State and Main
Love Liza
Red Dragon
25th Hour
Owning Mahowny
Cold Mountain

I didn't notice him until Ripley.  He was the one who came in late
and suspected Ripley of doing what he was doing.  In Red Dragon he
was the one in the wheelchair.  He was one of Ed Norton's two friends
in 25th Hour.  In Love Liza he played a man torn up by the loss of
his wife, and in Owning Mahowny he played a compulsive gambler.
In these last two he was the main character.

He was the sleazy reporter in Red Dragon and was eventually tortured and burned alive on an old antique wooden wheelchair of Red Dragon's grandma
