They should release it all over and quick, if they wait  too long the hype will wear off (not for us, but you know
normal people aren't obseessed... ;)  )

Well normal people don't know about it yet...coz BBM has not been promoted too much over here! Then we can all be obsessed!

In limited release, Brokeback Mountain rebounded by 61 percent from last weekend when it lost some heat as it rolled into non-metropolitan areas. Ang Lee's $14 million cowboy love story lassoed an estimated $4.8 million from 269 venues (up 52). Corralling $15 million in 25 days, it's scheduled to enter 80 new markets on Friday.

Still no brakes for 'Brokeback'
'Munich' solid as 'Mountain' climbs high

By BEN FRITZ

"Brokeback Mountain" continues to buck trends, showing even more heat in its fourth limited frame while "Munich" posted a second solid week on several hundred plays and "Match Point" aced its debut on a handful of courts.
"Brokeback" gained an amazing 61% in its fourth frame despite adding only 52 theaters. Focus' Ang Lee-helmed gay cowboy love story lassoed up $4.8 million at 269 playdates, giving it a three-day per-screen average of $13,407.
Pic expanded to just a few additional mid-sized cities and made boffo grosses in all of them, including $37,000 in Nashville, $44,000 in Columbus, and $32,000 in Milwaukee. Lowest-grossing theaters are in the suburbs, where "Brokeback" is averaging mid-single digits, similar to moderately performing wide pics like "Geisha" and "Rumor Has It."
Focus expects to add around 120 theaters Friday as part of a slow expansion throughout January.
"The process is working, but we still have to judiciously select our new markets and the ones where we expand," Focus distrib topper Jack Foley said. "It's a matter of timing and restraint to let the major competition get out of the marketplace."

This result is excellent. This is one movie that I have seen 4 times and not seen any TV commercial. It is all word of mouth. Please spread the word and tell everyone you know to see this movie.

And it just keeps getting better and better. Here are the latest results from boxofficemojo:

Domestic Total as of Jan. 3, 2006: $15,768,000 (Estimate)
Distributor: Focus Features   Release Date: December 9, 2005
Running Time: 2 hrs. 14 min.   Production Budget: $14 million

I can't wait to see what happens with the wider release scheduled for this weekend. I hope the revenues double.

Go, Brokeback, go!

BBM is an independant film. The hype is only going to grow with the longer it takes to release.

A perfect example is the independant romantic comedy, My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

The budget: $5 million

Released very slowly, and over a period of months,

raked in $356 million!!!!!!

Thats called cheap marketing, word of mouth, and hype. Just like BBM.

BBM will never reach $356 million, but again, its all word of mouth for independant films.

Hey, anything's possible  ;D
Give me your hand
And take what you will tonight, I'll give it as fast
And high as the flame will rise
Cinder and smoke
Some whispers around the trees
The juniper bends
As if you were listening

I think it is a clever strategy for BBM since no one could really have predicted the reaction from the market. I will not surprised if BBM reaches $356 million because it has yet to be completely released worldwide.

Here are the latest pre-weekend figures, showing our beloved BBM slowly inching its way to the $356 million mark.  ;D

Domestic Total as of Jan. 5, 2006: $16,709,528
Distributor: Focus Features   Release Date: December 9, 2005
Running Time: 2 hrs. 14 min.   Production Budget: $14 million

I'm going to try to restrain myself from checking again until Tuesday, to see the weekend results. I'm hoping for a quantum leap!

Go, Brokeback, GO!
