Yeah, Thomas, and everytime I saw that Focus and River Road in the BBM beginning I started to tremble, with a horrible lump in my throat, almost crying, but not with total sadness but with a intense emotion, knowing what was waiting for me ahead. First time we see the film it's like a punch because you don't expect the ending, but I think it's worse when you know about the ending, because then you see every scene with different eyes, thinking how they wasted their time, a whole life being apart from each other, without knowing what was the end. And even the most beautiful scenes seems sad or at least bittersweet when you know what the fate was. Then when you see the beauty of the most tender scenes you think about that same beauty all lost at the end....

My third, fourth, fifth time at cinema when I saw that Focus Features I felt so nervous, heart racing.....I knew that it was gonna hurt but even knowing I was so impatient, I was unable to leave, I wanted to see that beginning over and over again, that truck almost invisible, the soft dawn, and then the guitar.....Oh yes, Focus and River Road will be BBM forever.

Tammy, this reminds me of my late friend Robert, who shed a tear at the mere sound of the opening notes of the BBM theme.

Would not certain trypes of slow lyrical guitar music stand as a symbol for BBM?

How about postcards in general?  Everytime we send out postcards from our BBM meetings, I recall BBM...

Oh yeah, that's true!!

Oh Thomas, did you see Babel? Great film. Well Gustavo was there too. He was the author of the soundtrack. His guitar sounded so similar to BBM; in fact a friend of mine said "this is Gustavo" only by hearing that guitar (he didn't know that the Soundtrack's author was Gustavo). Well, I have to see the film twice because the first view I was unable to concentrate and see what I had in front of me....Everytime that guitar played I only could think about and see (above all in the Texas/Mexico scenes) images from BBM.....I was nervous the whole time, with a lump in my throat, and goosebumps......

Watching BBM is like branding burning hot: every thing you see, every song you hear, a lot of words you hear and say every day, all remind us of BBM. I entered that cinema being a mediocre girl and left being my true self. BBM changed our lives, so how can not see BBM everywhere? That's impossible.

Yes, I know.  And I believe he was again nominated for Babel (but ZI forgot if he again won -- he may have won...)

Yes, all the songs played in BBM, especially the ones not written explicitly for the film, are now strongly associated with the story -- at least for me.  :)

For me too,Thomas; it's curious how music can be forever related with feelings, and making us change our state of mind with only few notes...There´re several songs that remind me of BBM,even if they don't appear in the movie nor,in principle, have nothing in common with it.They only need to be love songs,or kind of epic music that make me think in great open spaces, tenderness and,even,tragedy...But I think it's not that I'm crazy-I suppose so...-, but that,as Tammy said very well,BBM is present everywhere in our lives, sensations and feelings because it has changed them somehow.
Ennis’s eyes gone bright with shock, mouth opening then closing again. “Love?” Ennis said finally, voice strangling in his throat.

Jack smiled sad. “Yeah, Ennis. Love.” Leaned forward and kissed Ennis’s temple, whispered, “What’d you think it was, all this time?”

This is true, as I sometimes come across songs where the lyrics remind me explicitly of BBM.  Initially, it is the words that trigger the connection.  But later, the mere melody takes hold of you and becomes in and of itself a reminder of BBM.

Strange but wonderful is human perception.

And the way the can opens,by pouring all its contents if something catches your attention... ;)

When we speak about these moments,I feel like these are my memories.  :-\\

and about about symbols...

 HARMONICA   ;D

I remembered Jack today, when I was playing a harmonica... And i remembered Ennis's smiling face, when he has contented expression, and is sending up a prayer of thanks for  Jack forgetting to bring his Harmonica.

Jack wasn't that great with a can-opener -- at least when we have a partially dressed or naked Ennis in front of him.

Yes, I do think someone else mentioned the harmonica -- and it reminded me that I could have gotten the original BBM harmonica had I known about the auction sooner...

And who bought that harmonica?

I forgot now.  I should have preserved the link.  The harmonica was auctioned at ebay by Ken Wills, who was property manager of the film.

The guy who got it payed relatively little, IMO.  He has a treasure that I shall always covet.
