I love this too. That smile/grin is killing me... :P <^(

Yes, indeed.  This one is different -- I like!  Bad boy, Jake Nasty.

As I have often mentioned the lips...especially when they're pink.

I could just die right here <^(

Bizarre (because of the glasses, and the odd coloring -- like a sci-fi/future) and gorgeous, beautiful.  The vest really turns me on, for some reason -- the way it fits him there, lower torso.

Oh, fascinating idea.  So that's what's going on!  What a wonderful quality, then, that he can give of himself in a certain way to connect like that with the viewer...

kathy

Something about the way he uses his eyse, perhaps?

Yes, as if he really is looking into not just the camera lens, but into the eyes on the other side of the camera lens.

Bertie drops by.

Tom, thank you for all these movie pix!!  What is this, a conspiracy?  Prisoners of the Jake Pix thread.

kathy

I do this thread last nowadays, because  looking at all his pix takes the breath out of me...

I keep thinking I'll do it last, but I keep going to it first (actually, after Jack Pix, Ennis Pix, Jake Facial Fuzz, etc.).

I love the "stud" series of pix (like the ones I posted) because his formal attire is showing signs of disarray.  He is almost perfection in that moment when the formal look is at the point of unraveling and allows his body to "breathe".  :)

Yes!  I love that series, and you caught it in words exactly right.  The formal persona starts to let its hair down...

I love this one too. I like the sweater that he's wearing..

OMG, I love this look!

kathy

His frame is beautifully articulated by the white shirt and sweater...

This is true, but something more than that -- a sweater like this connotes all sorts of things:  casual comfort, warmth, familiarity, cuddling, home (and a touch of old-style academia).  And that style of shawl collar isn't as frequently worn by men as by women, I think, and so I like that.

I love Jake in this pic...and I really love Ang Lee in this!  Usually his persona is more like wise, intelligent, perceptive, kind, or shyly happy.  But I have caught occasional glimpses of him as very handsome and sexy, and this is one...

I find this pic absolutely captivating.  His shadow plays doppelgänger

There is also an aura around his head.

Okay, I can't help it, I have to say, Jake, quit letting people mess with your eyebrows!  Look how thin they're shaped.

A truly beautiful picture.  All elegance and poetry...

Great hair, great jacket, great t-shirt, great neck, most of all, great lips, besides, of course, his eyes...

Superb.  kathy, when he is between man and boy as in this pic, is is like unto the angels...

I agree -- there must be some magical moment, a spiritual moment of imbalance/balance, between stages of life, between boy and man.  Life sways, rights itself = equilibrium.

Another comment on this picture.  When you take away his so-distinctive eyebrows, his face looks different, the focus elsewhere.

And oh!  Goes without saying, the veins in his arms...

kathy

Yes, the veins, i love the veins... <^(

The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.

This is a really lovely picture. When you hold your child there is such a feeling of love and pride and I think that Stephen is showing that in this picture with his hand on Jake. It's like you want to say, this one's mine! Not in an ownership way, in a proud way.
