This I love.

It's so odd -- I have this very specific dividing point between when Jake is a youth and when he is a man.  I'll have to find, just to illustrate it, two pictures, "before" and "after," like the epitome of each, when he went from being boy hottie to being handsome man.  Anyway, there's no doubt he's attractive in this pic, and every pic, no doubt he had it even then, the spirit of the man he would become, but this one is still "boy" to me.  :*(

Just indulge me, okay?  This is a scientific experiment but I'll provide proper exhibits and draw conclusions later.  :i

But this picture, right now I think anyway, is perhaps that very moment when he was transforming from boy hottie to beautifully handsome man.  I can see the point of balance, right here...

It is funny, because I started out being very much a Heath person, while never denying Jake's gorgeous appeal...but I've spent more time studying Jake, since he is such a work of art.

I'd love to not wait, but to see now in one of those computer programs where they age people, to see how he will look in 10 and in 20 years.  Both him and Heath actually.  As long as they stay at the same level of health and happiness.

Still don't feel completely well, but a few pix before I go...

Boy hottie.

Okay, I won't comment any more.  Save it for my Master's thesis -- Boy II Man.

The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.

<OT> Yet needed.

FOS:  I'm not speaking as a moderator or anything, but I can't let this pass.  I would ask you to consider the actual words "wife beater" before saying so casually and intending it to be funny.  I know some people call this kind of undershirt a "wife beater," but that's about as funny to me as would be a "gay basher" shirt or a "child abuser" shirt.  I just think we need to not make light of something like this, and it's always good to be aware of the words we say

.....

And back to BBM, Jake looks totally hot in this kind of undershirt.

kathy

Dearest Kathy, the same matter happened ages ago, and we all agreed that this term was indeed offending. I don't believe any of the new members saw that since it was quite a few dozens of pages ago.
In the UK we call those tops: tank tops...but undershirt is fine as well.

Froggy.

and ps thank you for spotting it, I would have missed it since I was only going to look at the pix..

And back to Mr G.....the black and white pix are fantastic!!!!!
Support bacteria, they are the only culture some people have!

LMAO, him and his tongue. He looks like a wife beater in this picture :8

I just think we need to not make light of something like this, and it's always good to be aware of the words we say.

A similar but different thing is like this:  the term "gang banger" used to mean a gang rape.  Nothing acceptable about that.  Then later it started to be used just to mean a gang member.  So we can accept the change in meaning and not be attached to the old meaning.  Same with how the only guys (except in the military) who used to shave their heads were skinheads, white supremecists; later it became just something to do or not do, with no negative connotation to it.  So we don't need to attach the old meaning to it.  However, "wife beater" means exactly that, and if you never said "wife beater" again, it would help make the world a better place.

I don't mean to give a lecture...but this is an important one.  I tell this to anyone I hear say it...to think about what they're saying.  I mean, unless they are a wife beater, then that's a whole other story, and I'll go get my posse of witches and rescue his wife...

And back to BBM, Jake looks totally hot in this kind of undershirt.

kathy

kathy, as a moderator of this part of the forum, I do apologize.  This terminology also came up earlier here in this thread, if you recall, and points were raised similar to what you bring up right now.

Friends, kathy has a point.  Let's all try to be a bit more careful in the future.

Puce?  Burnt sienna?  Pea soup green?  Mustard yellow?  Just being silly.  I bet he could wear any color.  I love the classy way he dresses, and I love when he dresses grungy or scruffy, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in some wild and crazy clothes, like Heath does -- you know, those crazy paisley pants, or the pink feather boa?  Really, I mean just like more color and patterns.

kathy

Jake in a feathered boa...  Now, THAT would be a pic I would love to see.  I'm sure he would look good in one -- with a shirt in burnt sienna.  ;)

kasthy, I like your theory.

Would you think Hal in Proof would be precisely at the same balance point, or does Hal tip slightly over to the man?
