Light blue on crimson -- certainly his beauty is highlighted by the ambient colors.  I think this is an example of a pic whose strong and wonderful color scheme makes it superior to a balck and white version.  Do you agree?

Yes, not just him, but the whole scene -- B/W wouldn't do it justice.  It's rather more about color than it is about line and light/dark.

kathy

There is just something about Jake in shades of blue.  And a note of richness is overlaid by the introduction of crimson.

Jake is cardinal's robes at the gardens of fontainebleau on a summer's day.  His blue eyes against the crimson robes against the gold-green.  Such an image is an aesthetic delight. (Sorry for this rather strange fantasy!)

Tom, this is very poetic, no?  Pale blue youth.

kathy

Pure poetry, indeed.

This one, whoa.  Almost don't know quite what to say.  Hot bad guy.  Danger, danger.

kathy

The eys have it!  They are like dark pools in a haunted wood...

Funny, that Jake and Anne were both on that cover.

kathy

Glad you also noticed.  :)

This suit too conservative for me, though I appreciate his sartorial splendor nonetheless.  Actually, I think this suit made him not have as much fun.

kathy

Fashion people do point out that he is sometimes too conservative.  But wait until he unwinds...  :)

A number of them didn't like this light colored suit he wore for the showing pf "Proof" in the 2005 Venice Film Festival.  They thought it looked "geeky".  Personally, I loved the light blue shirt under the light colored suit.  And the lightness made his dark handsome features shine...

You don't have to be cutting-edge to look good, no?

Thanks, T., I like.  I need to see this movie.

kathy

It's not a particularly great Jake movie, but I love his character.  Sam is so vulnerable in love...

With Heath, in Venice.

Thank you, I needed this.  After all this Jake and other people, I needed Jake with Heath.  This, after all, is my main love here -- Ennis and Jack, Heath and Jake...

kathy

You are welcome, kathy.  I love their sincere respect and liking for each other.  They certainly have a special bond, no?

Love the composition, with the shadowy form at the window.

New power?  Old power?

Beauty is forever.

No surprise...but I never knew he said that, that he's into being a hunk.  Though I'd call him so much more than a hunk.  Like a sex kitten.  :*(

It's so obvious, though, that he enjoys giving us his body to look at, and all different guises of himself.  He is putting his looks to good use, not just his acting.  Not just his body, too, of course.  His face is so expressive, and he knows what to do with it, and does it freely.  I find it so refreshing, for him to enjoy being a "sex object" for us (whereas I resent women being "required" to be a sex object).

kathy

He is quite relaxed with his body.  I don't think he spends all day and night developing it.  HIs beauty is of a more natural, less staged quality.

He is not your typical hunk, I guess.  He has a brain and a heart to go with that body.

I am in so in love with the pix in this series.  There are some series where Jake's look is just perfect.  As I said a while ago to kathy, it is so hard to pin down, but you know it when you see it.  His flesh is luminous.  His face is a work of art.  And his pose is of the gods.

There are no words sufficient to describe him in this one.  I can try: he is spectacular in this series.  I am realizing that he is quite superb in black.

Beautiful, Twisted.  Thank you.  :)

And the eyes again..

The eyes, the face, the pose, the body.   This "divan" pic is wonderful.

This is very beautiful.

Can't exactly say whether this is better in color or B&W.  That's because his look here is all-around beautiful in this one.

Again, from a classic series that I love, in color or in B&W.

He subtly breaks the formal elements in the composition.

What is it about his face in this pic that completely disarms and captivates?

And I love the light cutting through a portion of his face and frame...

Love the composition.  Love the orange stripes.  Love Jake.

That's a rough but complete account.  :)
