Well, I certainly enjoy him in a Hawaiian print shirt.  And the nice chest hair.

Oh my.....not sure about the shirt but what a gorgeous photo :d) :d) :d) One for fans of Tainted Evidence....a nice glimpse of the happy trail :d) :d) :d)

Yes, L.  I was a little too proper to mention the "happy trail" when I commented on this picture...but of course you were not.  ;)

Here, the fuzz is eeven more subtle...

Does he look better in a V-neck?

I like both the subtle fuzz (5:00 shadow plus a few hours) and the V-neck.  Love the V-neck on him -- he has that lovely hollow there at the base of his throat.

This is a wonderful pic.  His eyes are really haunting.  There is a softness in his face here that contrasts with his sister's.

Certainly when he was a bit younger, as here, in pictures with her, she always looks so upbeat, like on the verge of laughter even, whereas he has a quiet moodiness...

There is a certain Jake Gyllenhaal look that simply overwhelms.  This is one such pic.  Why is this so?  Is it the play between symmetry and asymmetry?  Between briliance and softness?  Between light and dark?  I don't know.  But I know the look when I see it.

It is all those things.  He is all those things.  Yes, indeed, there is "something about him," and we all have put in a good number of hours trying to figure it out...  I guess best not to try to figure out, just appreciate.  He shows us so many facets of his brilliance.

Once, again: I know the look when I see it.

Boy, I sure see it in this one!

I know that some of us are not keen on this particular look, but it is in such a look that you can appreciate superb definition and form as far as his face is concerned.

Yes.  I'm not one who is too enamored of his Jarhead look.  But I do try to appreciate it.  I think, though, that I am just a bit too enamored of his great hair.  I don't love this shaved-head look on men at all, just generally speaking.  Though I acknowledge their right to like it and do it.  It's probably my generation -- HAIR!

But anyway, it's still his same features...but I think he loses some sensuality.  But then, he doesn't have to be "sensual" at all times -- he can be so many things, and this is just one expression.

Having appreciated the basics, the flourishes of hair and apparel can be better appreciated.  The form is now adorned with features that delight us because they are so mutable.

I know what it is.  It's not just the hair in itself.  It's that hair around the face adds dimension, adds shadow and movement.  A shaved head is harsh -- the light comes and just sits there evenly.  With hair, especially the wild and free lines of his hair, there's a lot for light to play with.

And the profile reveals as much beauty as it hides.  The ancients understood this.  The profile gives as an appreciation for the basic contours.

Not to mention, in h is case, serious eyelash appreciation.

He is dizzying, yes.  And this is one fine suit, to show him off.  I wonder if this is so-called "sharkskin," the fabric.  He sure has perfect taste in clothes,  no matter a striped t-shirt or a fine suit.

kathy

Who is his wardrobe consultant?  That person is worth his/her weight in gold.

I have wondered that, also.  Think he does it himself?  Probably not -- that's way too much effort, and having to go out in shops in public.

But also, he is a clotheshorse.  All those fashion magazine shoots he does in different designers' clothes -- I'm sure they have a lot of fun dressing him.

You said it, Kathy. :)
The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.
