I like him as Pilot more and more...  He was quite young when he did this role, but it already bears his hallmark.

A wonderful picture of him.  Quite beautiful.  And is it coincidental that he's in a black shirt and the eyes are ever so blue?

The pose is ever so subtly erotic -- almost akin to the classic odalisque pose, except that Jake is NOT an odalisque.

Why does his look in this pic remind me of the peculiar Johnny Depp character (if you know which one I am thinking of)?

I'm thinking Edward scissorhands..

Yes.  :)

He is also quite striking in red.  If the resolution were finer, this would be such a beautiful small pic...

I never grow tired seeing this beautiful pic.  The focus is entirely his.  The face and form is superb.

Oh my.....not sure about the shirt but what a gorgeous photo :d) :d) :d) One for fans of Tainted Evidence....a nice glimpse of the happy trail :d) :d) :d)

Yes, L.  I was a little too proper to mention the "happy trail" when I commented on this picture...but of course you were not.  ;)

kathy

Treasure trail.  :)

Here, the fuzz is eeven more subtle...

Does he look better in a V-neck?

I like both the subtle fuzz (5:00 shadow plus a few hours) and the V-neck.  Love the V-neck on him -- he has that lovely hollow there at the base of his throat.

kathy

Yes, the hollow, and a hint of chest hair.

This is a wonderful pic.  His eyes are really haunting.  There is a softness in his face here that contrasts with his sister's.

Certainly when he was a bit younger, as here, in pictures with her, she always looks so upbeat, like on the verge of laughter even, whereas he has a quiet moodiness...

kathy

He looks the baby brother to perfection...

It is all those things.  He is all those things.  Yes, indeed, there is "something about him," and we all have put in a good number of hours trying to figure it out...  I guess best not to try to figure out, just appreciate.  He shows us so many facets of his brilliance.

kathy

Yes, it is probably best not to reduce beauty to an analytical exercise.  Like any work of art, it can be so subjective.

Once, again: I know the look when I see it.

Boy, I sure see it in this one!

kathy

This is such a beautiful pic.  It is not a totally elegant look -- which is probably why it captivates...

Yes.  I'm not one who is too enamored of his Jarhead look.  But I do try to appreciate it.  I think, though, that I am just a bit too enamored of his great hair.  I don't love this shaved-head look on men at all, just generally speaking.  Though I acknowledge their right to like it and do it.  It's probably my generation -- HAIR!

But anyway, it's still his same features...but I think he loses some sensuality.  But then, he doesn't have to be "sensual" at all times -- he can be so many things, and this is just one expression.

kathy

I know what you mean, kathy, about hair and the suggestion of sensuality.  The association is certainly ancient, although one should note that the lack of hair also has had its admirers in past ages.

I do think that in the absence of hair, we get the bare essentials.  Hair builds on top of beautiful basic features and enhances a look or shifts attention from one feature to another.

Jake without the hair is essential Jake.  :)

I know what it is.  It's not just the hair in itself.  It's that hair around the face adds dimension, adds shadow and movement.  A shaved head is harsh -- the light comes and just sits there evenly.  With hair, especially the wild and free lines of his hair, there's a lot for light to play with.

kathy

This is another way of putting it.  Hair is so changeable, and light shifts and is constantly filtered by it.  And hair also changes the shape of the head, thereby imbuing it with  a different sense of proportion.

In short, hair adds mutability and a kaleidoscopic range to the head and facial expressions.

Not to mention, in h is case, serious eyelash appreciation.

kathy

I do love his eyelashes here...

I have wondered that, also.  Think he does it himself?  Probably not -- that's way too much effort, and having to go out in shops in public.

But also, he is a clotheshorse.  All those fashion magazine shoots he does in different designers' clothes -- I'm sure they have a lot of fun dressing him.

kathy

I am sure WE would have a lot of fun dressing him (I dare not say the opposite out of respect for Jake.)

I must go to say farewell to a friend.

His eyes (when he looks down this way) are liked veiled fires.  You know that they burn, and yet you are not blinded.
