I got mine - YIPPEE!! This is better than Xmas!! Morrisons had no fancy display either, but the most important thing is i have one, and i love it, and i can watch it over and over until i am a total emotional wreck.

April 24 - the best day of 2006 for UK  ;D

Aimi, am so glad that you have got yours!  I expect you will be watching right now!  Be prepared, you will be hit hard.  I was.

You are right this being a special day for all of us UK fans.  But what about 29 April?  That's sounds like that day will be pretty good too (o/t, but Aimi and I are meeting up for a BBM day!).  ;D  ;D
Tomorrow Christie - i have whole house to myself, plenty of tissues (perhaps some whisky is called for?). I am expecting that hit by a truck feeling again - and in all honesty i can't wait!!

Oh yes, Aimi, a whole house to yourself is a perfect way to enjoy the most beautiful love story ever told (your words chick!!).  Enjoy it.  It's the best way to have your heart crushed that I can think of!

YIPEEE!!!!!!!!  My UK DVD came in the mail today ;)  Strange, however, that the listed running time is 129 minutes and not 134.  Even with the PAL/NTSC standards difference in encoding the DVD, I don't think it would amount to a 15 minute difference... ???  ANyone know if the UK version is edited down?  I'll have to watch it this weekend and see

PAL DVDs run 4% faster than the original movie - it's only 5 minutes shorter. But it's 5 minutes faster, so it's not cut. Just faster...

I tried the movie out today.  Not only is it a little faster (The pitch of the voice is noticeably higher), but I think the fact that our AC runs on 60Hz as opposed to the European 50Hz makes it speed up even more!  I do like the liner inside the case that the US version doesn't include, and also the scene selections have a cool "flying papers" clip depicting the different scenes.  The main menu doesn't come up properly however - has anyone noticed this?  I got a kick out of the "descriptive" audio track.

My main menu works fine, but the special features menu takes ages to work properly ??? I watched the Logo special last night and when it finished, it didn't go back to the menu - just to a black screen. Not a huge issue, really, but I've never had that happen to me on any other DVD.

Descriptive audio on the UK DVD...
[Moderators, feel free to consider whether this post is worth of posting at all; I think it should be kept, at least, within the member zone]

The UK DVD has a special feature that I haven't heard before: a descriptive audio track.

Nothing is the same anymore... #) especially FNIT and SNIT.. #s}

Warning: contains adult sounds.

Download a sample of FNIT here, fnit.mp3 (1.7 MB; sorry for the large file size & 'silent' quality).

Please, do consider before listening: do not spoil your illusion, memory, recollection... :s)

;D ;D ;D  :t) There is a funny quality listening to passion dictated in an English accent.  ::) "...lubricate...and pushes down..." indeed. It was almost like technical manual.  :8 :8 :8 The last bit of silence is appropriate because even the English is at a lost for word to describe that ultimate moment of passion and bliss.  :t) Again rdx. Unluckily,I can't hear it;the page can't be found, according to what they say... :-\\ :-\\ :-\\
Ennis’s eyes gone bright with shock, mouth opening then closing again. “Love?” Ennis said finally, voice strangling in his throat.

Jack smiled sad. “Yeah, Ennis. Love.” Leaned forward and kissed Ennis’s temple, whispered, “What’d you think it was, all this time?”

Yes,it's already working without any problem now, thanks ¡ Well,I don't want to be disrespectful with our English fellows ~) ; but this scene listened in this accent is as if Ennis and Jack were displaying their respects to each other before playing a cricket game ¡  ;D

Thanks LC! Yup, the accent is half the fun.. ;) The poor 'narrator' guy also recites almost half of the credits by the end of the film... (^)

No disrespect intended. I assure you. I love watching the UK soaps (Coronation Street, East Enders, Emmerdale, Hollyoak) for the very reason that I love the accent, and also because they have the best writers with the most interesting storylines and character development. All these shows have great stories of gay characters.  <^(

The particular narrator for Brokeback Mountain was just funny. "...displaying their respects to each other..." Is that like "...show me yours and I will show you mine..."  :P But no pressing down please.  :^^) :c)

I've changed the link to the file, i.e. the file sharing service because the link didn't seem to stay stable.

Compare to the Blu-ray scene selection here: they're different.

Did they release this in North America or elsewhere?

Looks like it's only released in the UK market.
