You know, PHilip did great. And yes he is well liked.  But in 10 years...whose performance will be remembered by the world?  Huh I ask you?  What movie and performace will have entire college classes centered around?

Toadily:  You hit it on the head.  Huffman had a real life figure to emulate.  Heath had to completely develop, evolve and transform into this superb performance, the like which will go unmatched for decades.  Mark my word.

No doubt about it, Heath was ROBBED, but the Academy Awards will make it all better for him!

My hearth is broken  :'(

But:

Best song!   ;D

Best script!  ;D

Best director!  ;D

Best movie!  ;D

Annie Proulx, Ang Lee!  So many thanks!

Victor: I am banking on this turnaround come Oscar time.  Jake and his Hollywood connections could do more to get Heath's name in front of those who will be casting votes for Oscars.  I think he's somewhat of an underdog given his Aussie roots...not many know him that well...

This is a hell of one special birthday that I will remember. Seeing BBM win best picture and having you guys together are the best birthday present. Good night all and see you around.

We will do this again for the Oscar.

Rabjr1:  If there's any disappointment, it is the Best Actor award...Heath Ledger was head and shoulders better than anyone on the ballot.  No doubt.  See Toadily's message about who will be remembering which performance in future acting classes?  Not Huffman's.  Heath Ledger raised the bar on all of the actors and will require all of them to dig deeper in what they deliver to the audience.  His powerfully moving performance will stand the test of time.

You are very welcome!

No need for a mop and a bucket.  I have walls to walls carpets.  They are soaked, indeed!  Just to mention there were a lot of tears of joy!

Can't wait for the Oscar night!  It will be damned wild!

In the meantime, I will try to beat natalia at typing!

Love from... well you know!

You're right, this will be remembered for years.  You know when Gone With The Wind was being made into a movie everyone from Hollywood mogul to the person on the street knew that Clark Gable WAS Rhett Butler.  I don't think anyone else could have played Ennis Del Mar but Heath Ledger.  He is Ennis Del Mar.  This movie will be talked about for a long time.

didn't think I would live to see all of the "..Ring.." movies.  So glad I'm still round for this.

OMG!  I'm so happy!  This is one of my best nights of my life. ;  ;   I'm so proud of Brokeback Mountain right now for winning best drama motion picture, best original song, best screenplay and best director!  Four awards!  I'm bummed that Heath didn't win best actor, but at least it won a lot of awards!  Now I can brag to everybody to watch it!   :D   Thanks for this thread again!

You know the whole night was great, I loved that woman from Law and Order saying she was 53 and this was her first leading role that she won for.   And Gena Davis looked so lovely and was funny and gracious.  And Felicity winning and saying how she had down times and didn't think ti woudl happen , it was like a great night for older women!  Yay for the older broads, who LOOKED Beautiful too by the way.

And Diana and Larry, Ang such a lovely man.  I start crying just thinking of how blessed we are they all took on BBM, and yeah it's  a tad ironic that the actors didn't win, since without them it wouldn't have worked....BUT still they must know how great a job they did.  I stil lthink both will win Oscars and maybe more so now.

Unfortunately I live in France so I won't have any opportunity to attend this great ceremony! I expect u all to tell me about it!! I hope BBM will be the great winner... Our french movies (La marche de l'empereur and Joyeux Noel) have no chance in front of such successes.

Hugs,

It is wonderful to visit this old thread. Gosh it has been more than two months?

This is our Brokeback Mountain. Sorry I am being sentimental. It is great to read these old threads when things are slow. Thank you everyone.

We will have think of some ideas for doing live thread again.
