This is worth reposting in its entirity. Love bade me welcome: yet my soul drew back...

Tonight i'll post something very beautiful. :) Lots of pics, sorry for that. Some pics i lighted, so they aren't so good.

It could be like this, just like this, always...  :\'(
The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.

He captures me entire in this scene.  His heart is like wheat on the threshing floor of Love...

Chuckling out loud.  I read these words first then scrolled up to see who the heck had written them, and of course I should have known -- Mr. Poet.  Stunning pic, agreed.  But I don't really get the simile -- wheat on threshing floor sounds kind of violent, like it's getting all chopped up or whatever, or the wheat being separated from the chaff...and I'm over-thinking this, but I don't get it.  The being captured entire, I get...

kathy

Hi kathy.  :)

Not so sound morbid, but the whole tire-iron scene has a feeling of wheat being threshed...  It is interesting that you caught on with the violence of the image.

There is the notion of struggle here.  Jack is forever trying to master himself -- riding out the bull of Love, shall we say.

I hope you don't find this overtly morbid.

tpe:  No, morbid not a problem per se.  We have to face the morbid in this story/movie...  Yes, the tire-iron scene is like wheat being threshed; it's just that this pic is so beautiful of Jack, almost beatific (your word for that one shot of Ennis) that I just wondered if I was getting the image behind your words.  (But this discussion belongs on pix/poems thread.)  Anyway, I like your words of Jack trying to master himself.  Sometimes it's half-hearted though ("Have you seen my jacket?" just one instance, looking for it perfunctorily but asking Lureen instead).  The dreamer cancels out the disciplined responsible one.

But again, this is one of the most gorgeous shots of Jack, of a man who is basically gorgeous every moment...

Oooh, huge congrats to you Thomas. I know that you will take good care of that treasure. :)

I am thinking of donating it.  I'll try to find a suitable home for it -- some place where other people can see it.

Mawybe the guy with the shirts will also donate to the same place -- a BBM museum in Wyoming anyone?  I was interested in some of the other shirts.  There were a slew of the same ones but with no guarantee that Heath or Jake had worn them -- maybe an extra wore it, etc.  Anyway, forget the shirts -- I want the jeans!

How about wool made from those particular sheep?  That's taking cultural icons a little far.   ^*()

Thank you :) ^f^

When you see the screen caps of the SNIT like that, you can really see where Jake went for that open mouthed kiss.  My oh my, my heart is a-flutter!   :^^)

I agree with you kathy.  This is one of the most beautiful pix of Jake EVER.  There is a melancholy about it that is in the best tradition of Jake Gyllenhaal...

Kathy, a friend of mine here is suggesting I buy the sheep that Jack carried across the stream in BBM!

I will never forgive myself for missing out on the bid for the Harmonica.  I will contact the buyer and offer to buy it at double the price...

I agree wholeheartedly!

He seemed deep in thought right before Ennis entered.  I wonder what was Jake trying to project here...  I don't think he was that confident that Ennis would give in that night.  I love him making preparations in any case...

Incidentally, I just recalled that the screenplay called for Jack to be entirely naked in this scene.  Though this would have been lovely, I think that the understatement of this scene was much more romantic and effective.

Whenever I see photos from this group I always think there is something feral looking about Jake in them. In one (the head and shoulders shot wearing the same top) he positively looks a bit of a werewolf. I still like him    :P :P :P :P
