The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.

And what is so extraordinairy about this scene is that heCOULD just be showing off infront of another man.... "guything you know? mine is bigger than yours" ;) but he could also be showing off for the man he wants... "look at me, you want some of this?"

and that is Jakes genious

Excellent observation, esme, how that kind of action could be read.  Also, it shows they are feeling easy about each other, and Jack wants to entertain and amuse his friend and also doesn't care if he looks silly...which he does.  Funny-charming-silly, and of course a bit loaded from drinking.  (You probably know this, but Jake was worried about that scene afterwards -- did he do it okay or did he do it like dumb -- and all Ang Lee said was "wonderful lighting.")

Hmmm...he's sure got big feet, huh?  Not to mention his long-fingered hands...

kathy

LOL, I got a little sweaty just thinking about his big feet and long fingered hands.   :d)  Do his pants look a little snug in this picture, too?  Mercy.  :d)

Are those the interesting pants I've seen in another photo, with like a "cod piece" on front?  I like that -- wouldn't mind if it became popular again.  Why stuff it one side or the other when you could make a special pouch just custom made for all that great stuff?

Love your morning, noon and night pic-postings for us, twisted -- thank you.

I can hardly bear to look at this one, though, because of knowing who Jack is giving that very sexy look to.  Ouch.  (And, OT, but Randall in that scene, too -- I mean, they're just looking at one another, but how can just looks express so much? Amazing, isn't it.  How expressive eyes are.  Well, I guess it's the whole face, not just the eyes.  But Randall and Jack are so clearly checking each other out to see if they're reading the sparks flying correctly.  This is not how just two guys at a table with their wives at a big party look at each other!)

A good night to all my friends in the forum.

His laughter is infectious.  Exquisitely so.  So full of life.  Indeed, a lust for life.

Kathy, I know what you mean about not wanting to look at this pic because Randall is across the table from Jack.  I think that the eye contact between them is more of a flash of "understanding" that they both are attracted to men.  I don't see it as checking each other out.  The look Jack give Randall on the park bench after Randall propositions him is one of distance and longing for Ennis IMO.  At least that's what I tell myself.   ;)

Wow, I never thought of that before--but I bet that's right.  After realizing he's stuck in this life with the Newsomes--he goes back to find the person he really loves.  :(  I just love all these pics of him with those sad puppydog eyes.  Breaks my heart.
