Well this thread wasn't really my own idea; I read in either the Jack or Ennis thread that we also need one for pics of both of them and I liked this idea..

So I'll start with a few..

To be continued  ;)

Hanna, thank you for doing this!  I was the one, I believe, who mentioned we needed a thread for pix of Ennis and Jack together.  Then, someone mentioned it recently, that there is such a thread, and I freaked out, like how could there have been one all this time that I didn't know about??  But I see you just started it on 10/20.  Wunderbar.  Muchas gracias.

Oh of course I adore this little passage.  I love how Jack just doesn't let up.  He's always got his eyes on Ennis, trying to draw him out...and he does, doesn't he?  :-*

Love this one (which of course is superfluous to say, but I always say it).  I love the look in Jack's eyes.  He is so intent.  It matters a whole lot to him to help clean Ennis's wounds.  No slap-dash job there.

Kathy I love all your comments to all the pics, and you can say "I love this one" as many times as you like, because I agree with you!!!

This is lovely isnt it, to see Jack's face so clear as he wants to try and attend to Ennis.  He does get a touch to the wound before Ennis snatches the bandana off Jack.  :(

Weird -- is that a double exposure or what?  The image of a horse in the water.

I've probably already replied to these pics, but do you mind if I bore you all again with my thoughts?   :-\\  ;D

I just love this whole series of shots, I think the whole "outside Aguirre's trailer" scene is incredible, for so many reasons, and this is wonderful too, to see the personalities of Jack and Ennis present themselves so clearly.  Jack, the exuberant and confident one, with more than just a keen eye on Ennis.  Like you say Kathy, he doesnt take his eyes of Ennis for a minute.  This is what probably unsettles Ennis, which leads him to mess around with that watch to give his hands something to do.  ;)

I think their acting in this scene is outstanding, but particularly Heath's.  He does something, I dont know what it is, but you get to see Ennis completely in this scene.

Wow -- I know we've seen tons of pix of this scene, but look at the look on Ennis's face in this one!

This is totally  *o) but I can't see starting a new thread somewhere just to make an observation.  Look at the way Jack is hugging Ennis.  His hands are open. Ever see a man hug another man with closed fists? I can't help but wonder if those that hug with closed fists are ashamed to be hugging another man. I also wonder if that says something about them and their feelings toward homosexuality.

P:  I know exactly what you mean.  I noticed that in their hugs, the two we see -- they hug wonderfully.  And it's exactly what you say, the closed hand vs. the open hand.  And I've noticed something else, too:  sometimes a man will put his arm around another man's shoulder and it's the same thing there -- an open hand resting fully on the other man's shoulder is one thing, but I often see (Heath does this I notice) a man rest his hand there, just kind of rest the edge of the palm or such there, but not the whole open hand.

The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.
