*Sigh* I want to go to that place that they went to when they where together. Not BBM, but that happy place where they felt secure in each others arms.

Wouldn't mind going to BBM either.

Greenfrog - that's beautiful :)

He was, as an actor and a professional and a human being, one of a kind

Charles Roven, accepting Heath's BAFTA.

This award tonight would have humbly validated Heath's quiet determination to be truly accepted by you all here — his peers within an industry he so loved.

Kim Ledger, accepting Heath's Oscar.

It certainly is, and it reminded me of something I read a while ago. I think it was Ang Lee who originally said it, and Jake repeated it in an interview

My favorite scenes

4.Flashback scene-Too short, need more, so sad that thats all Jack longed for, and the look on Ennis's face...
3.Second tent scene-beautiful, so soft, sexy and sad, and too short
2.Shirt scene-this is too much, its so devastating. Trying to get some nastalgic from the fibers of the shirt, so sad, too short
1.Two Shirts and a postcard-thats what I'm calling the ending. Unarguably the saddest moment in movie history ;D god, i could just kill myself right now (Yes, i just watched it!) :\'(

One of my favourite scenes...refers to the one in my signature.

Where Jack is in his camp with the sheep..sitting in solitude silence and darkness...and looks back to where Ennis is alone in the main camp...and sees him (Ennis) as nightfire. And then smiles..a most beautiful smile. As if that smile shows both to us..and to Jack himself..that this time round... he is not alone on the mountain..that back there in the main camp..is someone waiting for him..taking care of things for the both of them...who it seems by that smile...he cares for already.

I so love the description of Ennis as being nightfire. A light in the darkness of Jack's loneliness.

A link to a screencap of that scene.. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v633/Mendalind/?action=view&current=brokebackmtn_0249.jpg&refPage=&imgAnch=imgAnch1

Someone said this in a previous post:

Quote
MMHMMM I thought about that.  What EXACTLY happened the year prior.  We know Jack was there. we know Jack probably tried to get some.  We know Jack!
I would like to know what happened the previous year!  teehee

From what I'm aware of...Jack spent his first summer on Brokeback alone. Someone please correct me if I am wrong here.  :)
"Now you will not swell the rout, Of lads that wore their honours out, Runners whom renown outran, And the name died before the man."

Jack, in his dark camp, lit only by moonlight, sees Ennis as night fire, a red spark on the huge black mass of mountain

The way Aguirre gives out the jobs - camp-tender, herder - seems to imply that the year before one person may have done both - he certainly lost a lot of sheep that way and there seems to be some implication that having Jack up with the sheep at night would get rid of some of the predators.

The story aslo says that both were pleased to fnd a companion " where none had been expected", which rather backs up what you say.

Carefree Wind -

I just love your description of AP'w words!!!

[they were] both high school dropout country boys with no prospects, brought up to hard work and privation, both rough-mannered, rough-spoken, inured to the stoic life.

The scene involving the shirts, is one of the most sad and beautiful moments in the history of film.

My favorites in order: (I have a couple more but I thought this was enough...)

1. The flashback scene, my ultimate favorite. Just seeing how they use to be, in their element. Seeing how comfortable and happy Ennis looks holding Jack, singing to him… and how much it contrasts with how lost and depressed he feels 20 years later. It’s bittersweet.

2. The 2nd night in the tent is amazzzing. That’s the most believable love scene I’ve seen in my life I think. You can really feel the ranging unlocked emotion.

3. The entire reunion kiss scene is INCREDIBLE, but I especially love Ennis’ little head nudge thing at the end. In that moment, I hear him saying ‘I love you, I’ve missed you, I need you so much.’ It’s like ‘Whoa! Ennis is being affectionate!’ I love it.

4. When the boys are chasing each other with their shirts off as Aguirre looks on. Both of them fall down and Jack takes off Ennis’ hat and kisses him. You can see their true relationship… how loving and carefree it was, when it was just the two of them. I can’t help but imagine what it would have been like if they stayed together.

5. When Ennis wakes up the morning after their first night in the tent, I love the way he sits up and looks outside and then notices Jack sleeping next to him. His little ‘Oh, there’s Jack… and he’s sleeping right next to me’ look of semi-confusion is adorable. You can see in his eyes that he's scared of what he's feeling. (Thanks to wonderful Heath)

6. When Ennis hugs his and Jack’s shirts in the closet, I ball inside. In that moment, you can feel that Ennis realizes Jack really, truly, deeply loved him and now it’s too late to do anything. He feels completely helpless.

7. When they’re waiting outside Aguirre’s trailer, total strangers, just looking over at each other in silence. Comparing how they are in that scene to the reunion scene… you can really grab a hold of how much they grew in love during their limited time on the mountain.

8. When Ennis asks his girls if they need a push after he and Alma full-out yelled at each other. I think it shows what a good, gentle guy he is, Alma troubles aside.
...truth is, sometimes i miss you so much i can hardly stand it.

I absolutely love this scene (except for the part involving Aguirre).

My scene is the opening one where Ennis looks at Jack and then back down at his boots... I think he might have known what was coming

That is a great scene  <^( <^( <^(

The body language between the two of them is full of sexual tension.

Haha, yeah. I especially like when, after Jack sings, Ennis does the bang bang bang with the stick and says 'Very good.'

Awwww, it's love in bloom.  <^(

This is my ultimate favorite also.  It's so sweet that it brings tears to my eyes, and the placement of that scene is almost too much for me.  Beautiful!

The picture above says it all. You can really see and feel how much they love each other, just being. It's almost too much for words.

I look at this and think, 'I wish I will have that kind of love.'
