And ..................... Release .....
Well, it's finally out, don't know if this is where people are talking aboooot it, but anyways,

Went to Target, there it was, and on sale, not bad, the wide screen and the modified for full screen format - and since I only have a small t.v., I got the full screen format - seen it seven times on the big screen, so it's kind of an adjustment, but the feelings are already there, so it's ok, panoramic scenes are truncated, sound track is not as good, maybe I can run it through my computer's speakers - I don't have one of them thar movie theatre set ups in my house - although now I am very motivated to get one just because I want to have this movie in my house the way I saw it in the theatre.  (Breaaaathe.....)

Among other things, I almost felt guilty for not waiting until I got a 50 inch wide screen or something that I swore I was gonna get before I bought this DVD - I swore that I would not desacralize this movie by watching it on a small screen with small audio - but I couldn't wait I guess, so I did - such is the pain and anguish of of not being able to delay my spiritual gratification - but what IS it with some tv's (shit) - - they are so dark, there are times when you can't even see what's happening on the screen because the scene is dark in the first place and then, dammit - anyway this movie tends to be dark in lots of spots and I'm fixing it (which may eventually include throwing the damn thing from the porch to the street - which is no small feat), so ok, like I know I'm rambling, but anyways, got all the way to Aguirre riding up to tell Jack his mother said his uncle was dying, then I had to go back to work, shit, anyway ... more later

I ripped open that package as soon as I got home. I started to cry a little having them home with me. Am I the only one who got emotional over having Jack and Ennis come home?
I'm not going to be able to watch it until Friday but I will watch the extras before then.

I feel your frustration Hurley though for me on my TV, 27", wide screen version of the DVD I thought the tent scenes were lighter. You could really see those passionate kisses. I agree with you about the sound and am now considering mugging someone for the money to buy a sound package for the TV. LOL Not really, but has become suddenly very high on my priorities list.
There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

Ennis, riding against the wind back to the sheep in the treacherous, drunken darken light, thought he'd never had such a good time, felt he could paw the white out of the moon.

I also just got an email from Amazon.com saying that my copy had been shipped.  It's coming 2nd day air, but Amazon estimates it won't be here until the 6th since it won't reach UPS until tomorrow.  I haven't heard anything from Wolfe about the copy I ordered from them.

The copy from Wolfe, with the bandanna, was waiting in the mailbox when I got home from work.  The copy from Amazon has made it to Jacksonville (FL) so far.  This was my first experience with Wolfe and I'm impressed!

The UPS guy pulled into our driveway at around 2pm something and I met him at the door.  It was my copy of BBM or the two copies that is I preorderd from Amazon.

The DVD is crystal clear and vivid and gorgeous.  Amazingly great quality.  The bonus features are great.  I don't want to spoil it for others so I will wait to comment another time.

We have been to Alberta to horses show twice and it is beautiful but the scenes in this film top that.  Big horse country up there around Calgary.  I could smell the pines, firs, and cedars from the DVD.  The air up there is really something to breathe.

Anyhoo hope everyone gets their copy soon so we can talk about the bonus features.

My husband watched it with me and he is really beginning to see even the beauty of the love between the two guys.  He of course loves the backdrop, ranching and horses.  He goes camping on horseback even in winter.

I will watch it again after the kids go to bed.  They ate dinner at their grandmothers so we could watch it.  They are only 4 and 7 so not for them.

Could anyone tell me if I'm the only one who didn't get the usual chapter listing paper insert with my DVD, or did they just not include one for this release?

My Amazon order is in transit, according to the package tracking site I just checked. I did have a very nice surprise when I came home from work last night. There was a copy of the full screen DVD version of BBM on the counter! My SO picked it up for me at BJ's, bless his heart. He didn't know that I had pre-ordered from Amazon, and I didn't tell him. I ordered the widescreen version anyway, so they are different. Not sure when I will break open the package and watch. I want to be in the right "mood." I have been too tired after work lately - work has been grinding me into the ground, so I will bide my time until I can give it my full attention, which it deserves...

Got mine DVD from Amazon yesterday - the Full Screen Version. I have not opened it and just took a close took of every details on the DVD.

On the back of plastic wrap - there is a small ink printed "DISC MADE IN MEXICO" --- got me thinking about Ennis questionning Jack for being to Mexico (of course there is no relationship here)

Also, the photos on the back are of course not showing Ennis and Jack together but two photos of hetero couples (Alma & Ennis and Lureen & Jack).

On top of the DVD - it says "Four-Star Collection"  Does anyone know what it mean?

On top of the DVD - it says "Four-Star Collection"  Does anyone know what it mean?

I was wondering the same thing. I found a short article/review that says "Brokeback moseys onto DVD today as part of Focus Features Four Star Collection"  I haven't found anything else.

Well, I received mine yesterday and just held it for maybe 20 minutes observing every detail of the DVD package, turning it over in my hands as if it were some antique relic that I had to be very careful with......and I wondered, How can I be holding in this little package all the BBM world and our forum and the weeks of emotiona upheaval !.....and finally I turned off my answering machine, and just like Red in the previous post, I watched only the special features. I have to wait for the "right time and feeling" to see again the film and to be prepared for the small screen.

Enjoy x

After waiting and waiting, and not being able to buy it at Wal-Mart the other day because of lack of time, I have FINALLY bought the BBM DVD.

What an experience! I would like to share my "buying BBM" story, even though I haven't watched it yet.

I am one of those people whose family is against BBM and any BBM-related things, so I was forced to buy the DVD in secret. And I tell you, what a nerve-wracking thing it is to buy in secret! I thought I was going to be able to skip away from my mother and sidle over to the movie section and buy it just like that.

But oh how wrong I was!

I managed to skip away from my mother while she was checking out (using the vague "I'll be back in a minute" excuse). Unfortunately, the line in the movie section was big. But this did not prevent it. I walked over to the BBM DVD, stared at it for a moment (nervously thinking "OMG I'm ACTUALLY going to buy BBM!) and then grabbed it. As soon as it was in my hands, there was NO WAY I was letting go of it!

I was so nervous. My heart was beating fast. All my limbs were trembly. I waited. Waited some more. The old lady in the front of the line complained about a movie she had bought. A family in front of me was trying to quiet their kid, who was getting a new game. I wished so much that the line would move faster, because I knew my mom was waiting.

Thank god that my mom knows I am easily distracted and that there were TONS of ppl at Wal-Mart (since it is Easter weekend). OTHERWISE, she would've been suspicious when I got in the car.

Anyway, the wait finally ended, and I handed the guy my money and he bagged the DVD. Then came "THE BIG DILEMMA." How to fit the DVD into my tiny purse and hide it from my eagle-eyed mother? After a great struggle with the purse which I FINALLY won by realizing I could hide the edge of the DVD-box with my arm (this is where I thanked God that my purse was a "hug to your side" type).

So there I waltzed, past the checkouts, a giant grin on my face, with the DVD under my arm. Waltzed in the car, apologized to the mom, and actually got INTO the house without her noticing my arm constantly over my purse, or my lack of holding it an other way (and thankfully she didn't notice the blue Wal-Mart bag paper that might have been picking out from under my arm).

I was so nervous when buying the DVD (paranoid my mom would come 'round the corner and see what DVD I was holding), that I didn't even think to check fullscreen or widescreen (after all my perusing of that thread, too!) But I just took a look, and it is fullscreen. I am happy, because that is what looks best on my type of TV. Hopefully not too much will be cut out...even if there is (I hope not), I think the fullscreen was the only version available at Wal-Mart right now.

There was another lady who I heard say to her friend, "I want to buy Brokeback Mountain." Hearing that made me grin. Yay for fellow BBM fans!

It is thanks to you all that I had the courage to actually buy the DVD. Reading about people's experiences with BBM and watching the DVD and everyone's eagerness to buy it made me positive that no matter what, I HAD to own the movie myself.

And now the DVD is hidden safely in my closet. Hopefully it won't roast! I wanted to hide it in a cooler place, but the closet is my best hiding spot. I won't get to watch it till Wednesday or Thursday or even Friday, whenever the house is empty of all but me.

But just knowing that it is there, that I finally OWN IT, omigosh, and that I can WATCH it AGAIN...and again...and again...and slow-mo...and rewind...!!!!  I am sososo happy!  ;D ;D ;D

BBM rocks my socks!   :3
