Syncronised DVD watching
« on: Oct 23, 2006, 02:55 PM »
How about Brokeys getting together to watch BBM off DVD at pre-aranged times?

Phone each other before and after, web-cam or chat.

That would be so much nicer that being all alone.  ;D

We've done this before, a date needs to be decided (most likely a Sunday)  and this is the shedule we used:

11 AM Pacific
12 PM Mountains
1 PM Central
2 PM Eastern
7 PM UK
8 PM Western Europe
9 PM Central Europe

and so...

hmm, maybe I mean early morning. I guess after midnight. I don't like to watch with my family around and they are usually up late too.

This would mean very early morning in Europe but could accomodate members in Asia/Oceania zones.

I'm there - any time of day or night - if Oz and Oceania find their daytime easier, some of us Europeans can adapt.

Toadily and I watched while the brokies watched from Montreal, I then went to have breakfast...and got on with my day...

Saturday is a better night Europe-wise, since we then have the Sunday to catch up...Friday even...Sunday can be a bit tricky.

The best way to specify a time is to use Greenwich Mean Time. This is global time - it is the same everywhere.

Look at your computer clock setting or on the internet to covert for your local time to GMT, and quote that when making arrangenents for syncronised viewing.

I have a confession to make. I had a sneaky view solo the other day! But I can always watch again.

How about tomorrow at 18.00 GMT?

Hi Short Leash.

I was going to start viewing 15 min, but as we have not got our time zones worked out I'll put it off.

Tell me the nearest city where you live and I will work it out for you with pleasure. Then we can sync in comfort without stress in a day or two!

You're on Eastern Standard then, aren't you?  Five hours behind GMT, which is what I'm on - you can't be in Central time that far east, can you?

This is a handy link. Click on the nearest city and on the following page you get GMT listed near the top. GMT is of course the same all over the world - great for Short Wave radio listeners and time travelers like ouselves.

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/

So yes, ShortLeash, you are five hours behind GMT (Welshwitch/London) and six hour behind me (Saul/Amsterdam). The easy way to convert in your head to add 5 hours and then turn AM to PM.

So, should be make a date - the three of us?

Saul

Thanks for that handy timetable, I love it! So I'm off work tomorrow which means, I could stay up late to watch around 1 AM my time, but unless you are both early risers, that might not work for you. Or, I can watch tomorrow morning which would be mid day for both of you. If either of those times work for you, let me know. I will check when I get home from work. Which will late afternoon for each of you. Hey, I think I'm getting the hang of it. If none of these work, then let me know what works for you and I'll see if I can make it work.

Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you,
for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just around the corner.
All is well.

Hi Koka - great. Then there are four of us!

How about 21.00 hours GMT next Saturday? That would mean 9.00 PM for WelshWitch, 10.00 PM for me in Amsterdam, and 3.00 PM for ShortLeash local time.

Kola - what time are you on? Its easy to work out if you use the world clock link from me a few postings back.

This time I am going to be looking for special effects! Most of the sheep are computer generated, but are the people in the firework scene real or angborgs?

I've given up make-up - don't need it anymore since photoshop!

Its a pity Ennis and Jack are not angborgs - oherwise I would download them!  <^(

Anyway, the next viewing will be different as I will really be looking for the special effects.
