ya, u know everybody expresses so well as to what they feel about brokeback Mountain ..I really am impressed with all the Brokies...but there is a major part of what we Brokies feel which we beautifully feel ourselves about Ennis and Jack ..those feelings r beyond words...

I think that even the scenes of the film which have impacted people the most dont have dialogues or words but just facial expression , gestures and body movements..am I right?

You are right.  And yes, I suspect that for most of us, our feelings about the story go beyond words, and all our posts are simply approximates of what it is in the story that brought us here in the first place.

Sorry, I don't know if this has been discussed elsewhere...  But the other day I was watching the official trailer for BBM and then it hit me: Isn't there shown some scenes, that does not appear in the actual movie? I don't know why I haven't noticed before, cause' I've watched this trailer many times. But maybe it's because that I now have watched BBM more times that I can count and feel like I know every scene so well, that I could regionize it in a second. And these two scenes - well, clips of scenes - I'm thinking off, I just can't place them in the movie...

I took some screen caps: The first one of Jack standing on a bridge, the second of Jack and Ennis sitting next to each other in a car. I don't recall them ever sitting in a car together?





Also, in the beginning of the trailer Jack says something like "Since we're gonna be working together, I think it's time that we start drinking together". The quote fits in so well, that I haven't thought of it before, but does Jack actually say these words in the movie?  Maybe I'm totally wrong...

Did I miss out on something here?  Or does these scenes really not appear in the movie? I know it's not important or anything, I've just been thinking about this for a few days now and thought it could be really interesting to know. And if they don't appear in the movie, it's not like I have a problem with it AT ALL! - This more different scenes whatever it's only clips or not - this better!    But if they don't, is there any change someone might know the reason why they appear in the trailer? And if they do can anyone tell me where in the movie it is?

the quote from the trailer the "now that were working together" one is in the movie , im almost sure of it...dont ya just love the trailer...the music the naration the clips its powerful...really powerful... and thats only the trailer which speaks volumes about how epic the movie is.

Well,BBA,I can't be of any help because I don't know why these scenes didn't appear in the movie.It's to say,maybe they didn't appear in American version,because I can remember having watched the car scene in the version that was relased in Spanish theatres-by the way,if there's some Spanish Brokie who can help me in this,please,do it... -.
The Jack's one is after the FNIT when he remind what has happenned,visibilly upset for Ennis reaction.And the second one is when they're coming down from the mountain,after their struggle,and Ennis close his eyes in a desesperate gesture by knowing they're going to separate.And this is the scene I remember having watched,not in the trailer,but in the movie...
What I know is that,sometimes,there're differents versions according to the countries.I've heard,for example,that the scene when they fall off the cliff to the river,after their reunion,doesn't appear somewhere...But,sorry if my help has been very,very little,but it's what I can remember.

I LOVE the trailer!  I can watch it over and over again and even usually tear up while watching it. And I couldn't agree more - When the trailer alone is that amazing, that tells a lot about just how powerfull the movie really is. I like watching movie trailers in general and this is without a doubt one of the greatest I've ever seen.

About the quote - I can easily picture it being in the movie  I just still can't seem to place it.  But you know, tomorrow night I'm gonna watch the movie and hopefully I'll find out

It sounds very interesting, that they might appear in the Spanish or/and other versions for that matter and maybe not in the American... I'm really not sure myself, cause it's been a little while since I've seen the movie. But no matter how much I try, I just can't place those scenes - Especially not the one with them in the car...
And I've actually heard the thing with the cliff too. 
Oh, this was very helpful! I'm definitely gonna watch the movie very soon and look for those scenes very carefully... I need to find out!!

So sorry to disagree Ali, but I never watched those scenes in the film. They are deleted scenes that never were included in the film. If you have the spanish DVD you can see that.

I saw spanish BBM five times in theatres and then I saw the original version in a theatre too and there are not those scenes there.

The first one is Jack after FNIT but the second one is when the they went up to BBM for the very first time. They slept in Jack's truck the night before after talking to Aguirre and drink together, and the next morning they went up to BBM in that truck.

Sorry Matt, but Jack never says that line in BBM. His last line before they went to the bar is that "Nice to know you Ennis Del Mar". Jake filmed that second line after "nice to know you" but then Ang Lee thought that it was better not put it in the film. That line was not included in the final take.

David Trimble, who played the Basque, remembers that there was heavy rain on the day this scene was filmed, and that the sound of the rain was very loud. Perhaps technical considerations made it necessary to omit this scene from the film. Alternately, like the Signal Gas Station scene which it alludes to, the Truck Scene may have been cut in order to propel the action to the critical mountain scenes which follow it.

I know of three or so scenes in the trailer that are definitely not in the U.S. version of the movie.  Definitely not the scene of them in the truck together.  Nor Jack on the bridge.  Nor the guys in the mechanic's shop door.

And the dialogue about "drinking together" was not in the movie, either.

I'm not the minutae expert, but I believe the scene of them drinking and sleeping in Jack's truck the night before they got shipped up to the mountain, was filmed but not in the movie.  Or was it just in the story, and not filmed at all?  In any event, in the story, they talk all night or something...which I can hardly picture, Ennis being Ennis and all.  And it would make the interchange later between them odd, if they did talk all night -- "friend, that's more than you spoke in two weeks..."  Well, maybe Ennis got quiet up on the mountain, after that one night in the truck when he maybe felt he was a dumb-ass for yakking his head off.  On the other hand, maybe it was just Jack yakking all night in the truck.

I was fascinated by the possibility of deleted scenes appearing in the other versions of BBM.  But if Tammy is correct, then the Spanish version didn't show any deleted scenes, no?  

After the BBM screening in LA early this month, Diana Ossana was asked why a tuly comprehensive and substantial edition of BBM on dvd has not been released, and she herself was unsure why such was the case.  It would be nice to see such a future edition come out with some or all the deleted scenes...

I have watched the trailer so many times and those scenes and the quote seemed to fit in perfectly in the movie, so I haven't questioned this until now... I really like the thought of there being unreleased deleted scenes we haven't been able to see yet. Even though I agree with all of you: They should be available to watch somehow - That would be incredible.

I still wonder, why they chose to use those scenes in the trailer, though. But I'm glad they did.

I wish we could replay the promo clip again. It was powerful indeed...beautiful and bitter sweet, but powerful...along with the personal quotes from other people. I still go back there to read them, esp the ones from people in less gay-friendly areas.

I haven't always been a movie aficionado, but this movie, which I was not even interested in seeing on the big screen, just blew me away!  I'm a little embarrassed and ashamed that I access this site even before checking my email--been pretty much obsessed ever since seeing BBM on Bravo--the weekend that "The Dark Knight" was released.  Those simmering gazes, which take place right after the train roars through, "had me from hello"!  My shame does not come from the subject matter of the movie--but from my first-time total obsession with every every word, every glance, every scene!  "Wish I knew how to quit you!"

So why didn't you go see it at the time, maybe because you understood it was too sad?  Our JT's sister feels the same way, I believe, doesn't want to see it because it's so heartbreaking.

ya pattyjean..i can understand what u felt and how this movie impacted ...actually I watced this film after the death of Heath..I know its too late..this movie was not released in the place that I live and I had no idea about it as I dint watch Oscars that year due to my studies....when Heath died I watched certain scenes of it on youtube in bits and parts and I was blown away..finally I watch it online and I was shaken up..even scene if the film is so beautifull..the last 20 mts of the film is dam painful and it is hurting....its true love and one can never be ashamed of true of love

This film has defintely been a great impact to all of us as we can literally feel Ennis and Jack....we can relate to what is going on in their minds and what they felt and expressed...Ennis and Jack r not alone

I agree...I was a little disappointed when I didn't hear it. "Working together" and "it could be like this just like this always" are the two quotes from the trailers that really pierced my heart. They complimented the music and the scenary so well that it got me sitting up right and wanting to go out and see the movie right then and there.

When BBM came out in 2005, I was not at all interested in seeing it--as I thought it was "the gay cowboy movie".  Gayness or straightness did not matter to me--I just thought it would be a boring, tedious, uninspiring western!  But what a shocker!  It opened my eyes to LOVE, actually--the smoldering, unconditional, passionate, all-consuming, FOREVER kind!  What a gift!

Luckily, I had read a lot about it, and there was no way I wasn't going to see it immediately.

Oh, those Ennis smiles!  Those are great ones you said.

And in the elk-shooting scene, of course I love when they shove each other.  Especially when Jack gets in Ennis's face, and Ennis knocks him on his butt.

Yes, I think Ennis was both annoyed and bemused.    I think he sis get an inkling of the time they were going to have together.  Perhaps it was the real tangible beginning of his liking Jack?
