3. The entire reunion kiss scene is INCREDIBLE, but I especially love Ennis’ little head nudge thing at the end. In that moment, I hear him saying ‘I love you, I’ve missed you, I need you so much.’ It’s like ‘Whoa! Ennis is being affectionate!’ I love it.

I love that part too, its so sad, hes like a cat marking his territory ;D or he is saying I love you in his way

Hahahaha !!! I love the thought of Ennis being a cat marking his territory.  ;D

Hmmmmmm. I didn't know Jack was into water sports!    ;)

Don't worry, it doesn't make you stupid at all. To be honest, I don't know what Patriot meant by water sports either.

I just think it's funny.  ;D

No dear, it sure doesn't make you stupid.

When a cat marks it's territory it pees to mark it. When greenfrog suggested that Ennis was like a cat marking his territory with Jack I just thought it was funny picturing Ennis peeing on Jack.

In the gay world there are people, not me thank goodness, that get some sort of thrill by peeing on others or being peed on.  It is known as water sports or golden showers. What it is called in the straight world I have no idea. Maybe the same thing.

When I mentioned water sports, I guess I was hoping everyone knew what that was so I wouldn't have to explain it. But, in my heart I knew someone would ask I guess.   :8

No, not stupid at all.

And yes, it#s the same term in the straight world - I know this because I used to read the cards posted in London phone boxes by those who provide a variety of services at a price!

Oddly enough cats also spread their sent by rubbing heads - there's apparently a scent gland at the top of thier heads, so maybe this scene contains some sort of throwback to the primitive - maybe we once had the same sort of sensitivity to small but have lost it, at least consciously. Lovers often rest their heads together too.

thats what i meant! when i said he was like a cat that was marking his territory. Thats why i said it. Though, later that night, Ennis officially sprayed Jack as his own ;)

Yes, supposedly shot during the week or so whan Jake was away - ? something to do with preparing for "Jarhead". Looks as if it might have been part of something bigger, but we're never going to know, specially if they don;t bring out another DVD.

I don't think he is Erica - I think he's just standing on the bridge, probably thinking about Ennis while Ennis is up with the sheep?
He will be eternally missed, but he will never be forgotten

Christopher Nolan, accepting the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe on Heath's behalf.

He was, as an actor and a professional and a human being, one of a kind

Charles Roven, accepting Heath's BAFTA.

This award tonight would have humbly validated Heath's quiet determination to be truly accepted by you all here — his peers within an industry he so loved.

Kim Ledger, accepting Heath's Oscar.

He's standing there thinking deep and meaningful philosophical thoughts, of course, preparatory to getting back into the tent....and replaying our favorite scene!

Absolutely, and the fact that he's doing it with his shirt off has nothing whatsoever to do with my wishing that scene had been included ;) :-[, then when I read it wasn't Jake, I didn't care anymore ;D
Anyway, he does have his shirt off in my favourite scene (SNIT), and that reallt does have nothing to do with Jack being shirtless, it's all about the emotion, everything about that scene is just so beautiful, I could sit here all night going on about it, but it's all been said before, and much better than I can, so I won't :) What I will say is that after being away for two weeks and not being able to watch BBM, after months of watching at least part of it every day, the one scene I missed like crazy, more than any other and couldn't wait to see again, was SNIT, I kept replaying it in my head and must have watched it about 10 times when I got back <^(
There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

My favorite scene well other then the tent or reunion kiss scene, is when they are sharing a smoke and drinking whiskey talking about the girls they are seeing.  Ennis talks about "putting the blocks to a good looking girl over in riverton" and Jack talks about "having a thing going with a ranch formens wife"  then after a moment of silence he says "truth is......sometimes i miss you so much i can hardly stand it"  to this Ennis says nothing....   soooo sooooo sad.   :\'( :\'( :\'( :\'(

I'm not sure if I ever responded to the question of this thread. So I'll let y'all know why I think when Jack sings "...take me away!" it really brightens my mug. The two boys have already established a friendship-like interaction, and this follows Ennis' "ain't yet had the opportunity" by a day or two, I think. It heralds so much of the rest of the story, especially what comes next (FNIT). It's a Christian hymn, and I know that Methodists (Ennis' folks) regard songs as praisefull. Jack to me is actually singing as a sign of his happiness, loud and boisterous, in a similar manner, years later Ennis thanks his lucky stars, silently and unto himself.
This scene to me shows joy, innocence, and a hope of great things to come between Jack and Ennis.  8) 8)

Oh yes Greenfrog, the "sending up a prayer of thanks" is an amazing scene. first Ennis lying there so happy and peaceful and looking like an angel, and then Jack with "it could be like this, just like this always" (I'm choking now just writing down the words), and after that... the story of Earl and Rich  :\'( and "if you can't fix it you've gotta stand it" and "ain't no reins on this one"... I think that some of the movie's best sentences are in this scene, it certainly has a very strong dialoge. and a great level of emotion too.
