Thought of this one.

"Tell you what...truth is, sometimes I miss you so bad I can hardly stand it..."

It is a simple and powerful sentence. I wonder how many of us could get this one out. Jack is just romantic and adorbale.

That's one of my favourite quotes. It was the one that stayed with me when I walked, dazed out of the movie theatre after my first BBM viewing
Give me your hand
And take what you will tonight, I'll give it as fast
And high as the flame will rise
Cinder and smoke
Some whispers around the trees
The juniper bends
As if you were listening

What is realy amazing is how poignant that is while he is wearing a cheap 70's stash.

that's one of the great things about this movie, it's simple in so many ways, and yeah who would think "I wish I knew how to quit you" would make you cry, it sounds weird!

Made me cried too. Something else that made me cry in that scene, is all the unspoken from the clothes.  Heath's threadbared hat and coat vs Jack's top of the notch clothing.  Poor vs wealthy, the guys were living in two different worlds.  They were both poor at the beginning, Jack went out of poverty by marriage.  Heat's remained in poverty all is life doing is best to raise his daughters and pay the pensions after the divorce. Wich was a part of their argument.  So sad... What a brilliant, silent and poetic movie! O.k. got watery eyes again.  PBS!  :'(

Yeah..this is a good one too. Shows a lot of Jack's character - not conforming and afraid of authority. This is the scene that the audience sometimes applauded and laughed.

A few more

Ennis: "I got a say this to you one time, Jack, and I ain't foolin. What I don't know, all them things I don't know could get you killed if I should come to know them."

At least Ennis was showing his true feeling verbally.

Jack: "You know, friend, this is a goddamn bitch of a unsatisfactory situation. You used a come away easy. It's like seeing the pope now."

Jack: "Try this one. I'll say it just one time. Tell you what, we could a had a good life together, a !@#$ real good life. You wouldn't do it, Ennis, so what we got now is Brokeback Mountain. Everything built on that. It's all we got, boy, !@#$ all, so I hope you know that if you don't ever know the rest. Count the damn few times we been together in twenty years. Measure the !@#$ short leash you keep me on, then ask me about Mexico and then tell me you'll kill mne for needin it and not hardly ever gettin it. You got no !@#$ idea how bad it gets. I'm not you. I can't make it on a couple a high-attitude f***s once or twice ayear. You're too much for me, Ennis, you son of a whoreson bitch. I wish I knew how to quit you."

My heart always ponds when I see this scene then gets broken after that.

YEah and then was kills you is cutting to the peaceful contrast of the fire hug scene, I was so bracing for that to hurt and boy did it.

Do you think the line about "if i come to know them" was showing his feelings?  I find that enigmatical myself.

I think so. It is a typical response from Ennis who longs for attachment with Jack but could not deal with his unfaithfulness. Ennis is a violent person and that is how it copes with his emotion.

Went to my 4th viewing this afternoon...and this scene made me cry...I always knew what was coming next...but today it was more poignant, I was hurting for Jack...and then Ennis!

No wonder you were missing! 4th already. I am thinking of my 5th - this time I am waiting a bit longer for all emotion to settle down.

Yes, this scene always hurts me because I know it is the last time we get to see Ennis and Jack together on screen.  :'( :'( :'( :'(

One quote I really loved is the one when Ennis and Jack are mounting horses, following the sheeps.  Jack plays harmonica and Ennis says something about the sheeps being scared by Jack's playing and loose themselves again.  This is not actually the first time Ennis complaints about Jack's musical talents at the harmonica.  ;)

Help someone!  ???

Not to mention the way Ennis looks at Jack after saying it.  Very intimate moment.  :-*

I thought that was a very sweet moment too.  Also it points out that not only do they love each other but they are happily sharing a lifestyle too, I mean they would have been happy having their own place and living like that.  Alma wanted a house in the burbs and Lureen wanted a big house too.

A collection of BBM quotes from Wiki

Jack Twist

    * You sit down before I knock your ignorant ass into next week!

    * It's nobody's business but ours.

    * You know it could be like this. Just like this, always.

Ennis del Mar

    * If you can't fix it, Jack Twist, then you've got to stand it.

    * Bottom line is... we're around each other an'... this thing, it grabs hold of us again... at the wrong place... at the wrong time...     and we're dead.

    * This is a one-shot thing we got goin' on here.

Others

    * Alma Del Mar: You don't go up there to fish!

    * Alma Del Mar: Don't tell me to calm down, Ennis. Jack Twist. Jack Nasty.

    * Joe Aguirre: You boys sure found a way to make the time pass up there.

    * Cassie Cartwright: You don't say much but when you do you get your point across.

Dialogue

Jack Twist: Jack Twist.
Ennis Del Mar: Ennis.
Jack Twist: Your parents just stopped at Ennis?
Ennis Del Mar: Ennis Del Mar.

Ennis del Mar: You know I ain't queer.
Jack Twist: Me neither.

Ennis Del Mar: I tell ya there... there were these two old guys ranched up together, down home. Earl and Rich. They were  pretty tough ol' birds. Anyway they... they found Earl dead in an irrigation ditch. Took a tire iron to 'im. Spurred him up, drug him 'round by his dick 'till it pulled off.
Jack Twist: You seen this?
Ennis Del Mar: I wasn't... nine years old. My daddy, he made sure me and brother seen it. Hell for all I know, he done the job.

Jack Twist: That's more words than you've spoke in the past two weeks.
Ennis Del Mar: Hell, that's the most I've spoke in a year.

Ennis del Mar: I'm gonna tell you this one time, Jack fu**in' Twist, an' I ain't foolin'. What I don't know - all them things I don't know - could get you killed if I come to know them. I ain't jokin'.
Jack Twist: Yeah well try this one, and I'll say it just once!
Ennis del Mar: Go ahead!
Jack Twist: Tell you what, we coulda had a good life together, fu**in' real good life! Had us a place of our own. But you didn't want it, Ennis! So what we got now is Brokeback Mountain! Everything's built on that, that's all we got boy, fu**in' all. So I hope you know that if you don't never know the rest! You count the damn few times we have been together in nearly twenty years and you measure the short !@#$ leash you keep me on, and then you ask me about Mexico and tell me you'll kill me for needing somethin' I don't hardly never get. You have no idea how bad it gets! I'm not you... I can't make it on a coupla high-altitude fucks once or twice a year! You are too much for me Ennis, son of a whoreson bitch... I wish I knew how to quit you.
Ennis del Mar: Well why don't you? Why don't you just let me be, huh? Because of you, Jack, that I'm like this. I'm nothing... and nowhere.

Ennis Del Mar: If you don't want no more of my kids, I'm gonna have to leave you alone.
Alma Beers Del Mar: I'd have 'em if you'd support 'em.

I think "It could be like this, just like this always" isn't from the short story,is unique to the movie.

When we first saw it, my friend and I were quite amused by this line:

Jack: "I'm not you...I can't make it on a couple a high-altitude f**ks once or twice a year!"

the context of course is just so heartwrenching...but we still love this line  ;)

Yeah. it is a good one. That helps explains why Ennis said "I never had no thoughts a doin it with another guy except I sure wrang it out a hundred times thinkin about you...." ;)

Poor Ennis - one can infer over the course of twenty years, Jack and Ennis had sex less than 100 times? Ennis is surely deeply connected with his Jack.

Just came back from my 3rd viewing tonight, and boo-hoo'ed all through the movie. It seems like the more I see it and the better I get to know it, the more sensitized I get to Ennis & Jack's pain and loss. At the same time, I really treasure those times, early in the movie, when they're together and happy.

Anyway, I was watching closely tonight, and I caught a discrepancy with this exhange:
Quote
Jack Twist: Jack Twist.
Ennis Del Mar: Ennis.
Jack Twist: Your parents just stopped at Ennis?
Ennis Del Mar: Ennis Del Mar.

In the movie, what Jack actually says is, "Your folks just stopped at Ennis?"

That sounds much more realistic for two uneducated, inarticulate boys from out West.
