Ennis's last line : "Jack, I swear...." What is he thinking ? For me : I swear, it's so bad I can hardly stand it.

Sob!  :'( :'( :'(

My bet would be:

"Jack, I swear.... I loved you!"

O.K. There we go the sobbing chameau is crying over himself...AGAIN!  :'(

Funny thing. On my 2nd viewing at the "Jack, I swear..." scene I almost imagined Jack's shirt answering "You dont have to sear anything". Anybody got this vision?

Alma: You know, your friend could come inside, have a cup of coffee...
Ennis: He's from Texas.
Alma: Texans don't drink coffee?

I know it's not much, but it makes me laugh everytime I think about it. Probably because I am a Texan, and I drink a LOT of coffee. I mean, usually at least a pot a day. When I go out to Denny's at night, I drink at least ten cups, black. That kind of freaks my friends out. They put like ten sugars and two creams in each cup, and I drink them straight black.

This one gets me laugh also. Ennis's response to Alma was just lame.  ;D But I think we do that from time to time too.

This thread is a real rollercoaster of emotions, man.

I love all the quotes in here but I think that if I started to list my favorites, I'd post the whole script.
I gotta say, though, the one that really gets to me is this one: "You have no idea how bad it gets!" It made me bawl like a baby the second time I saw the movie. Hell, the whole scene did.

Also, I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but when Cassie asks Ennis his name, he first answers "Ennis", then there's a small pause and he says "Del Mar". It made me smile.

Yes. The scene you mentioned gets to me every time. It is so heartbreaking.

The way how Ennis said his name to Cassie is interesting too. HERE is the topic for that which you may find it interesting.  :)

Oh, thank you. :) I totally missed that thread. You guys really talk a lot about every little detail, I love it.

And since this is the quote thread, here's another one of my favorites: There ain't never enough time, never enough...

Of course! It's just that the only person I know who saw the movie is my mother, and when I ramble on and on to her about everything I loved in the movie she just sits there saying "Yeah...yeah..." So, it's a nice change for me. :P  ;D

My favorite quote is the whole movie. Before much longer I'll be able to quote the whole script and proud of it. Not to mention being able to hum the entire score. NOTHING has ever meant so much to me as this movie.
There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

Ennis, riding against the wind back to the sheep in the treacherous, drunken darken light, thought he'd never had such a good time, felt he could paw the white out of the moon.

My favorite quote is the whole movie.

I know what you mean. :)

Here's one I love (although it's been posted many times):

Ennis: I was just sending up a prayer of thanks.
Jack: For what?
Ennis: For you forgettin' to bring that harmonica. I'm enjoyin' the peace and quiet.

In the last scene together Ennis says as Jack holds him, "I can't stand it no more." or something like that. It's not in the story or screenplay, a Heath adlib I suppose but it just wrecks me cause Jack says like he always does, "It alright, it's alright.......damn you Ennis." They ain't ever gonna get it right and it's killing me.

I can't stand it no more

is not in the short story nor in the script, it was Heath ledger own improvisation in the moment emotion to hold and cherish only in the movie until the ends of time

God.  :'( These two lines would have made me lose it if I hadn't been a wreck already at that point.

Funny how a moment of improvisation gives you a whole new persective on the character and totally changes the meaning of the scene. Kudos to Heath.

Hi, guys! Ethan, thank you so much for running this site and forums! Unfortunately the film is not on in Russia yet and I am afraid it won't be on at all but I saw it already 8 times (3 times in London and 5 times in Amsterdam).

My favourite quote is the whole screenplay, but there are 2 parts which I LOVE above all:

First, when Ennis sees Jack after 4 years. "Jack F..ng Twist!" He says it with such joy, passion and happiness! And the smile on his face says it all too.

Second, when Jack says "Ya know, it can be like this... just like this... always". Every time I hear him saying that, I hope that Ennis agrees. It is one of the turning points when everything could have been changed.  "That old, cold time on the mountain when they owned the world and nothing seemed wrong" - quote from a short story.
Yea, well try this one and I'll say it  just once!

I'm absolutely in love with that moment. It's like Ennis really feels alive again after 4 years.

Hello Russianman ! I'm so pleased you found this happy forum. Welcome, and thanks for sharing your quotes. (*wiping tears away*) Yes, Ennis is so glad to see Jack F**** Twist again. The way he says it, you can almost swear that it's the first time he has said Jack's name out loud in four years.

Hi, Stephan! Thank you! Indeed, it is great that I have found this forum. It has been unbearable to hold my thoughts to myself and have none to discuss them with.
Like I said, the whole  screenplay is a quote. But sometimes faces of Jack and Ennis speak louder than words.
I cry every time I see Ennis comes up behind Jack and they stay in silence at the fire   :'( :'( :'(

Hi russianman,

Hey here is the very place to let go of your thoughts and to share them with like minded souls. You are in the same place I was way back in January when I found this forum.

Please chat to us, argue with us, laugh with us and cry with us. There are many virtual shoulders to lean on and give you support.
