Ennis’s eyes gone bright with shock, mouth opening then closing again. “Love?” Ennis said finally, voice strangling in his throat.

Jack smiled sad. “Yeah, Ennis. Love.” Leaned forward and kissed Ennis’s temple, whispered, “What’d you think it was, all this time?”

Jake is wearing my hat! I knew there was a reason I bought it.  ;)

There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

Ennis, riding against the wind back to the sheep in the treacherous, drunken darken light, thought he'd never had such a good time, felt he could paw the white out of the moon.

I'm happy when I see them so happy in that scene!! Letting aside their love, they were real best friends, right?

In that scene, you really sense that they were very comfortable with each other.  They were talking about serious things in that scene, too.  But overall, the feeling is light and open.  :)

I adore this.  This is precisely when Jack has just said "Mmmm..." after Ennis's "I ain't yet had the opportunity."  Look at that face, Jack's -- mmmm indeed.

I seem to also see a tiny private moment between Heath and Jake.

Oh I  just love the expressions on their faces in this particular shot!  Ennis has probably realised at this point that he's just flirted with Jack!  And he liked it.  And Jack, well Jack's giddy as a boy at Christmas I think!!  ;D

Oh,of course¡ At this very moment Ennis was flirting with Jack definitively¡I think this scene marks a "before" and an "after" in their relationship... ;)

Yes, I think this was a critical point, as you say here.  Some people have even noted that Ennis's last reply to jack in this scene was kind of a subconscious invitation.  The FNIT scenes followed, no?
