Yesterday, I was searching for some closure from this tragedy. It’s a difficult time for someone like me who doesn’t believe in God. Sometimes I wish I could. Things maybe would be easier.
But then yesterday night I dreamed of him. I usually don’t remember much of what I dream about. But there was him, so young, triumphant, full of love, life and hope in his future. He looked straight at me and asked: “You know what they say, how you can never go back home?” I nodded. “You can” he said then. "Through the magic of the movies".
And then today, sitting here, in front of my laptop I watched his films, his photos and some youtube videos. I watched as the story, his story, unfolded in front of me and then the ending came. And when the last image appeared on the screen, I smiled. There was just him. Heath.
Heath laughing, looking at the camera over his shoulder. Young and powerful enough to make my stomach flinch and my throat constricts. Heath in the way I will always remember him.

“what though the radiance which was once so bright be now forever taken from my sight. Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendour in the grass, glory in the flower. We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind.” William Wordsworth

p.s. To all of you. thank you for being here. this community was the only thing that kept me sane in the last four days. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, it brought me so much comfort.
(sorry about my poor English, but as you can guess it isn't my mother tongue)

Masetane, no, it's not strange to grieve over this leaving of N. Y.   In a way, it was a small gift that this was where he passed on, for it could
well be his happiest times were there with his daughter, and it was where he found peace from the pushy photographers.
Manhattangirl, it's a normal fear you expressed.  But there was no abandonment, in our hearts of the film, BBM, which is why this forum is here-
we don't forget.  And now, added to PBS, there will be, for some, a syndrome of never closing the door and saying good-bye to Heath, and
walking away.  There can be some form of closure, in the intensity of grief, but it is very likely that we, who never let go of a love for a movie,
will never let go of our love for this good and gentle man.  Nor is that wrong.
There will be books written about him, and always new viewers of his movies. There ain't no reins on this one. Ethan has said he's in it for the
long run, for BBM.  Heath was so central to that gift to the world, that story of love, one way or another, Heath will be here, too.  We came
to this forum because we don't forget.  And we won't.  It's our way.  It's who we are.

I know what you mean.  When I first found this site it was after I had seen BBM.  I was so confused, devastated with the ending, and looking for answers to so many questions I had.  I was numb for both those characters.  My husband had no interest in watching the movie or discussing it so I'm so happy to have found this forum.

To go through the grief again is terrible. It's by far worse since Heath was a real person. I got my arms around (finally) that BBM was a performance by him.  You know?  I have a terrible time understanding death.  Thank goodness he made that movie though. It is meaningful for so many people in different walks of life.  But something about him being in NY like me, sort of made it feel a little more personal for me....hard to explain. I guess knowing he was nearby made the movie sort of feel bearable...  That whole blur thing between the actor and the character - reality/movie...

Sigh. I'm just so crushed for him. I think he'd feel so badly about this accident. Kicking himself. But thank goodness, in heaven you feel peace and happiness.....

Ethan, FC -- Thank you  :ghug:

Anya76 -- Your English is fine, I understood exactly what you were saying. We're all working through this together. Your dream sounds like a very nice encounter with Heath, I hope you can remember it for a really long time and think on it whenever you want.  :ghug:

Hi Guys! I saw all the pictures from today and the vids. from today and all I can say is thank you both LJN and Ethan!! I am amazed in how the amount of flowers, tributes to him next to his SoHo apartment have gotten even larger. I saw the 2 candles and saw my name on one and I just smiled. Knowing that if I won't be able to go there soon, that in some way, I'm already there...thank you again guys  ^f^

Carby, masetane, Ethan, Tony, Anya76, thank you for your wonderful words. I keep finding people here who speak exactly what is in my heart, but somehow much better than I can express. :ghug:

And Anya, thank you for sharing that dream (I had been hoping to dream of him last night, but thought that if he would come to someone in their dreams, that would be enough - I don't know how to explain it).

And Anya, thank you for sharing that dream (I had been hoping to dream of him last night, but thought that if he would come to someone in their dreams, that would be enough - I don't know how to explain it).

I was happy to hear about the dream, too. I've been hoping for one like it since I received the news. It is comforting that someone has seen him in a dream and it was a positive one at that.

The only thing I've noticed is last night out of nowhere my printer started turning on and off by itself. I mentioned it to my friend when it happened and she said "That was Heath, ya now. Saying hello, seeing how you are." Then went on to tell me that one of the biggest signs someone is with you is when electronics start doing things like that and I'm normally a huge skeptic, but seeing as I've had this printer for months and it's never done anything like that until last night, I tend to believe it, and I'll take it. After that I said "Hello, Sweet Face. I am OK." Just in case  :)

more  :ghug: to everyone.

Although many of us didn't have the privilege to meet Heath in person, he is now close to us ever - in our heart forever. As jerasjr quoted somewhere, it is the one which can not be stolen.

beautifully said, carbyville...

i just don't know what to do or say or think. it's sad that it took this tragedy for me to realize how much i missed this second family i have here at ennisjack.com...
while reading a lot of the comments on this thread and watching some memorial-videos, i dissolved into tears. i can't believe he's gone! he was alive just a second ago and now he's never supposed to talk to us again?
i'm just so glad that we at least have his movies to remember him by.

thank you all for your words and thanks again to ethan and michelle for taking us with you to pay our respect in SoHo.

I'm more or less religious person, or maybe it is better say spiritual - I have this need to believe to things we can't see by our physical eyes. I have one friend who is even more spiritual than I am, I mean she sees things and is if not clairvoyant but something little bit like that. She has often told me things that would happen in my life, and very often she has been right and her "messages" have come true. What I'm trying to explain now?  ^*() No, neither she not me have had any ideas, intuitional feelings about Heath beforehand, no. But I have a very strong feeling that Heath is somewhere surrounded by love and light. When I close my eyes I see him smiling and surrounded by very warm color of rose. And I have these aching chakra feelings. My heart chakra is pulsating very hard at the moment.

Sorry, I don't mean to upset anyone or attack different kinds of beliefs and views; we have all our own ways to think about things. I just want to tell how I feel now.

Lorlo7, the first of your two poems- "Death is nothing at all.."  by Holland, is the one I've been waiting for.  Everyone has different beliefs.
For me, this is closest to my own, that the real person is still there, not floating in some clouds, and your posting it has been one of the greatest
comforts I have found.  Every single line, keeps the loved one by our side, and yet acknowledges the temporary loss.  This was the one.  Thanks.

I agree.  This poem such a perfect way to feel in communion with the one who has left us, just for now...

I don't understand why some people were laughing here!!!!! I was crying rivers, totally devastated. This is the saddest thing I've ever seen, and some people were laughing.... :\'(  :\'(  :\'(  :\'(

This really bothered me also, babytammy, but I couldn't even write a post about it -- I wanted to forget it as if I'd never seen it.  For some moments, there was a beautiful, respectful silence, or so it seemed...and then that laughter was so grossly jarring.

Even though there are probably thousands already posted on youtube, I wanted to make a small tribute video of my own. Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time, but here's my small effort:

(my old account went, so this is my new one)
