"What Jack remembered and craved in a way he could neither help nor understand was the time that distant summer on Brokeback when Ennis had come up behind him and pulled him close, the silent embrace satisfying some shared and sexless hunger."

Great work everyone.

I can't look at the still of the shirts hanging next to the tacked up postcard in the closet door without freezing in thought.
I don't know that I'll ever come across a piece of media, from movie to photography and music, that I will relate to as much as BBM; this still shot alone sums it up so abruptly. And by 'it' I'm not even sure if I mean the movie, my life, or the whole world as I've come to know it.
Is there a pill or rain dance to help to dissolve the haunt?
Not that I believe in ghosts...
But like most things - electricity, light bulbs, engines, some genius was bound to produce bbm. Annie knew there was something ingenius behind feeling this human. I'm glad she not only portrayed it, but simply stepped up and put it out there.
It was necessary.
Thanks for haunting me, AP..
I feel less misunderstood.

Ennis closes the truck door and walks towards a trailer.

He leans against the trailer as he watches a train go by.

As Ennis saves his one cigarette and put it in his jacket pocket, he hears the back fire of an approaching black pickup...

The black truck turns and parks quickly.  Jack comes out of the car looking mad.  He kicks his car.

An old stationwagon races along, whips into the parking lot, throwing dust.  The stationwagon stops about two feet from the steps of the trailer office, as Ennis jumps up to get out of the way.

Aguire:  If you pair of deuces are lookin' for a job, I suggest you get your scrawny asses here, pronto.

Inside the dusty, choky little trailer office:

Joe Aguire:

Up on Brokeback the Forest Service got designated campsites on the allotments. Them camps can be three, four miles from where we pasture the woolies. Bad preditor loss if nobody's lookin' after 'em at night.

Now what I want (looks at Ennis) . . is the camp tender in the main camp where the Forest Service says, but the herder (points at Jack) . . .

Pitch a pup tent on the Q.T. with the sheep, and he's gonna, sleep there. Eat your supper n' breakfast in camp, but you sleep with the sheep. Hundred percent, no fire, don't leave no sign . . ya' sleep there. Roll up that tent every mornin' case Forest Service snoops around . . . .

You got your dogs, your 30/30, you sleep there. Last summer I had goddamn 25% loss, I don't want that again.
You (points at Ennis).. Fridays at noon be down at the bridge with your groery list and mules, somebody with supplies will be there at the pickup.
You've changed things. Forever. There's no going back.
