Jack looks at Jimbo, lowers his eyes and looks at Jimbo again

Jimbo tightens up a little and says:  No thanks, Cowboy.  If I let every buckaroo I pulled a bull off of buy me a beer I'd a been an alcoholic long ago.

Jimbo takes his beer and walks away

Two scraggly looking guys in leather jackets sit down near Ennis and Alma

Guy #1:  Whoopee!  Look at this crowd.  There's bound to be lots of p**sy on the hoof in a crowd like this.

Ennis  gets up, goes toward the bikers and growls, "Now, I don't want any trouble from you, you need to shut your slopbucket mouth, ya' hear me?" showing his fist...

Ennis grabs him, shoves him aside roughly.  He gives a roundhouse kick at the other one, who goes a-flyin'.

"Whut about it?  You wanta lose half your fu**in' teeth, huh?"  he growls at the first biker.
"Not tonight Bud, I'd sure rather not,"

Fireworks explode,  Alma is in shock, and Ennis just stands there, silhouetted against the brightly lit-up sky.

Jack grabs Lureen's red cowgirl hat that flew off her head .  As she rides back to Jack to retrieve it, he holds it out to her and simply says, "Ma'am?"

Lureen clicks her tongue at him , gives him a smile and then rides off.

Later:  at the rodeo, Jack is bull riding, hanging on for dear life

Announcer:  Next up, is newcomer Jack Twist, all the way from Lightning Flat, Wyoming!  He's on board Sleepy tonight...let's hope he's not!

Jack is thrown, rolls over, stands up and runs to the fence, but the bull is not chasing him.

Announcer:  Let's see what our judges have to say.  That sure looked like the winning ride to me!

Jimbo:No thanks, cowboy.  If I was to let every rodeo hand I pulled a bull off of buy me liquor I'd been an alcoholic long ago... (there is something, a frisson, a vibe, that gives the clown an uneasy feeling... although he remains perfectly friendly... takes his beer, stands up) pulling bulls off you buckaroos is just my job.  Save your money for your next entry fee, cowboy.

hpv, LuvJackNasty, and bruxa23 - you are repeating an earlier scene (see TOP OF PAGE - reply #10560)

NEW SCENE:  In rodeo bar

Lureen Newsome is talking to a tall, fair-haired cowboy. She shakes her head the cowboy walks away.

Jack Twist is seated at the bar.  Jack glances at Lureen and she smiles at him.

Jack (to Bartender):  You know that girl?

Bartender:I sure do.Lureen Newsome.Her dad sells farm equipment.I mean,big farm equipment.100,000-dollars tractors,shit like that.
Lureen realises Jack is looking at her and walks to him, smiling. He's a little timid and tries to dissimulate.
Lureen:What are you waiting for, cowboy? A mating call?.
Ennis’s eyes gone bright with shock, mouth opening then closing again. “Love?” Ennis said finally, voice strangling in his throat.

Jack smiled sad. “Yeah, Ennis. Love.” Leaned forward and kissed Ennis’s temple, whispered, “What’d you think it was, all this time?”

Jack:  Fast or Slow, I just like the direction you're going in.
