Sorry ma'lady, you couldn't have heard 3 "It's OK" unless they changed the sound track for foreign distribution and I can see no reason to do that.  As for sub titles, I had to enhance the sound enormously and could still just barely hear what was whispered.  If the people who do the subs didn't also enhance the sound they couldn't have heard it and just guessed at what was said.

Nancy: You can bet your last penny that what I said Ennis and Jack say is, in fact, what they say. I have offered to make the clip available to frog123 and if you have Windows Movie Maker and know how to use it I will make it available to you also.  Then, you can hear for yourselves. (Just barely)  If I had a way to get the music out and leave the dialog it would be much clearer.

I am not sure what you all are hearing???  Different people seem to be hearing different things.

Ennis says I'm sorry...I'm so sorry, and Jack replies, It's allright.

Here is the link to a .WAV file so you can hear it.
You will have to turn the volume way up but be careful, there is music that I do not have the ability to take out and it is loud.

I uploaded it tonight 3/11 and it will be available for 7 days.

Thanks for the upload, Patriot1 !  :D

I too was perplex, because on the first 5 viewings, I never heard any words. Perhaps I was too entranced by what my eyes were seeing ! But on the last viewing, the sound was excellent, the music was much better throughout the film, and I finally heard the I'm sorrys and the It's oks. Could it be that some copies of the film have better sound than others ?

there has been a very long debate about the question whether there is an "I'm sorry" in that scene. In the end, most people seem to believe there wasn't, but there are still some staunch supporters of Ennis having said "I'm sorry", the general idea being that he was sorry for the way he behaved in the morning (just riding off without word) or, some say, for not knowing what to do, for being so clueless.

Any ideas from the lucky  people with the screenplay?

In my screenplay, the 2nd tent scene is pages 20-21 in Story to Screeplay. Two "its alright"s and  no I'm sorry. BTW, if Ennis were to apologize (he did not need to) for riding off, he would have done so on the mountain side when he said he aint no queer..

Yes I heard the two "I'm sorry" and the "it's ok" when I saw the movie. And I remember that they're also translated in the french version too.

Absolutely...I have seen it eight times and whether in the screen play or not there is definitely an I'M SORRY in the movie before the It's OK (which I think is repeated). I know because at first I could not tell WHO was saying the I'm sorry....but it is DEFINITELY there!!!

Jack definitely says the "It's allright" (not It's OK as I said before)..It is hard to tell who says the I'm sorry..It actually sounds like Jack but that would make no sense

Hi, guys! I am in Amsterdam now and yesterday watched the BBM for the 9th time!
One question. In the scene when they show Laureen with a newly-born Bobby, what does Laureen's mother say? To me it sounds something like: "I've got 2 boxes of formula for u!"  Do I hear it right and if yes, what are these boxes? Please help!
Yea, well try this one and I'll say it  just once!

Hi Russianman!

In my ears, she does say "I've got two boxes of formula" and after that it transpires that they remained in the car and Jack is sent to get them, thereby excluding him from the happy family scene...

Formula is special milk for babies, in the 60's not a lot of women were breast feeding, the fashion then was to think science was better than nature.

Sorry mate.  Ennis' mouth is not closed.  It is cracked open just a bit. It is difficult to see with the camera angle and lighting but when you get the DVD you might be able to see the inside of his mouth just a little bit.  He is saying the words as if he is hissing them through this narrow slit in his mouth, like he usually talks, and not using his vocal cords but forcing the air through his mouth and manipulating it with his tongue to form the words.

Besides, what has Jack got to apologize for?  Nothing.  It was Ennis that had violently "raped" Jack the night before and then treated him like s**t the next morning.  It was Ennis that came to Jack hat in hand and all apologetic.  It was Ennis that, just a few hours earlier had told Jack that what happened would never happen again, it was a one shot thing.

The first phrase, you say, sounds like "saw right." One problem though, you can hear three " syllables " not two.  (One) I'm, (two) sor, (three) ry.

Actually, when you put a sound analyzer on the file I made available you see and hear three "syllables", four "syllables", and then three "syllables."  I'm sor ry...I'm so sor ry.....That's al right.

Will this ever be over. Ennis had all day to apologize for whatever he is suppsed to be sorry for. Why at this moment in the tent scene. I cannot wait for DVD English version. This debate will be over.  If I am incorrect and Ennis actually says something I will have "Crash #1" tattooed to my body. That is how sure I am!

I doubt it as long as there are people who refuse to believe their eyes and ears.  ;)

No, actually, the screenplay tells us Ennis spent the day doing a lot of thinking, "Something eating at his mind." He didn't even come down for supper so Jack went up to see if he was ok.  Ennis was still deep in thought when he was sitting by the fire.  It was there he decided he needed to apologize.

Quote from: bnjmn3
Why at this moment in the tent scene.

Because making love in the tent at night was a better visual than making out on a cold mountain top?  I think you will have to admit Jack would have looked rather funny laying naked on the mountain top. :D

I'm wondering if we could get the clip off youtube and feed it through an EVP maker. I don't know how well that would work, though.

I am in the process of downloading an EVP maker.  I read some of the documentation but am not sure this is what we need.  What we actually need is the FBI lab in the District of Columbia.   ;D

When the download finishes I will see what it can do for us.

Thanks for the suggestion.
