During previous speech, Jack rises from his chair, goes over to TV and snaps it off, returns to his seat.

LD rises from his seat, heads toward the TV.
Jack (angrily, pushed beyond his limit):

Now you sit down you old son-of-a-bitch!! This is my house, my child, and you are my guest. Now you sit down before I knock your ignorant ass into next week!!!

LD meekly returns to his seat. Jack begins carving the turkey. Lureen unsuccessfully tries to surpress a smile of appreciation.

Short story, honey. Only about 3 seconds I was on that bronc and the next thing i knew I was flyin' through the air. Only thing, I wasn't no angel like you and Jenny and didn't have no wings. And that's the story of my saddle bronc career. (Look from Alma and Monroe turns on the knife to slice more turkey

Alma's crying, dishes and plates rattle in the kitchen.

MONROE: (smoking a cheap cigar, mews)

Alma?

Ennis puts on his hat and storms out, running out the door and down the steps, stuggling to put on his Levi jacket as he goes to his pickup truck.

Ennis drives to the Black and Blue Eagle Bar. Parks his one-eyed pickup across the street in the snow. Gets out and heads right to the bar without lookin' up the street. A flatbed pickup slams on the brakes, skids, almost hits him. A big roughneck driving the pickup yells out:

Hey asshole, watch where you're going!!

Ennis’s uncommonly quick reflexes snap into action and he quickly goes to the driver’s door and begins throwing punches at the driver. The big driver gets out and, just as quickly, thows Ennis against the truck yelling, "Goddamn, Goddamn" and out punches Ennis who ends up down on the pavement getting jabbed in the ribs and balls while the driver yells, F u c k, Dammit, and continues his punches.

Jack: All I'm sayin' is, what's the point to makin' it? If the taxes don't get it, the inflation will eat it all up.You should see Lureen, punchin' numbers into her adding machine, huntin' for extra zeros, her eyes gettin' smaller and smaller, it's like watchin' a rabbit tryin' to squeeze into a snake hole with a coyote on its tale.
