I let a balloon for Heath fly today..

Just a gesture, as we here in Germany had not had the opportunity to lay down flowers for him, and especially because it's still impossible for me to find any appropriate words to express my feelings.

.. I'm just sending up a prayer of THANKS.

Farewell, Heath. I miss you.

I looked into the sky until I couldn't see the balloon anymore. And I'm so glad we had such a great weather today; it felt so peaceful.

It was interesting to hear that the Ledger family found great comfort in the love expressed for Heath from around the world.  They
saw a difference between the media attention and the personal feelings of average people who had unusual interest in Heath.  That sort of
settles the issue as to whether we were in any way a hurt to them by keeping an intense vigil.  We were not.  It was a support to them.
We did the right thing.  They did not expect us to fall quiet and walk away.  And we didn't.

Hanna - that was a truly beautiful thing to do :ghug:
He will be eternally missed, but he will never be forgotten

Christopher Nolan, accepting the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe on Heath's behalf.

He was, as an actor and a professional and a human being, one of a kind

Charles Roven, accepting Heath's BAFTA.

This award tonight would have humbly validated Heath's quiet determination to be truly accepted by you all here — his peers within an industry he so loved.

Kim Ledger, accepting Heath's Oscar.

Hanna, thank you for sharing your pictures. What a lovely gesture. :^^)

Tony, I was struck by what Heath's father said as well, and happy to know that the genuine expressions of affection for Heath and support for his family were received in the spirit in which they were given. To know that we could give them a little comfort amidst this storm makes the heart feel a little better. :ghug:

that was such a beautiful thing to do.

OMG--that took my breath away. My friend did this when his dad died. the family gathered and each wrote a message and tied it to a balloon--and they watched as the balloons flew up to heaven.
What a beautiful thing to do.

Today, our boy was finally  RIP   :\'(
TO HEATH:
You had the gift of happiness,
The unrelenting grace
To see the radiance of life
Within the ruthless face.

It wasn't pure naivete
Or something just not there,
Or, even worse, an inner lie
That said you didn't care.

It was a certain blessedness
Attained by very few
That let you live within a love
Within the love in you.

This is beautiful, JAKELANDIA, sorry for the bad translation, I got it from Google Translate. It has limitations. I love your juxtaposition of the nuptial night SNIT and the sepulcral silence, reflected in the cowboy in the sunset. Thanks. I feel better knowing Heath is finally at peace, rising up to the heavens, where he came from, and where he belongs.  :ghug:

REI IN MY DREAMS ...
Washed by the waters of your heavenly source
I felt yours ... in a wedding night
THE AWAKENING LLORE ...
Washed by the tears of a sepulchral silence
I sentì alone ... in the vast earthly paradise.

Thank you so much, hpv. This is really moving. I especially like the part below, where I bolded and colored red.

Heath was a very private person with amazing depth. He said once that it would take a long time to try to explain to someone else who he really was. We are finding out now, with all the anecdotes from his friend, this amazing blessed depth. If at times, he seemed fidgety or aloof, it was only because he was living within the love in him, that few were privileged to share. We were all blessed when he shared it in Ennis.

Thank you for this poem. :ghug:

This is just lovely. Spanish is my chosen 2nd language, and there are a few words that need translating!

Bañado por el llanto de un silencio sepulcral
