Shivering, Ennis enters the tent, lies down, and both fall asleep.

..... full moon over the clouds..... ( inside of the dimly lit tent ) Jack, awake, rolls down the covers, searches for Ennis' hand and guides it down towards his own groin......... in a second, Ennis realizes what's going on, and jerks his hand away like lightning........ violently rises, and so does Jack,....... they freeze.... look at each other...... jack starts pulling off his jacket...... ( Ennis mumbles something I just don't understand )..... full of tension, they hold each other....... face against face........ and continue loosening their clothes....... sound of belt buckles,..... hard intakes of breath,.........Ennis violently turns Jack around and puts him on all fours....... he doesn´t resist....... Ennis spits in his hand and puts it on himself............ sharp breaths sounds........ tension....... some punches..... a painful breath exhalation ( from Jack, I suppose).......... the standing tent in the dark....... silence........

Early next dawn, Ennis wakes with a splitting headache, sees Jack layin' next to him. Looks out of the tent at the rushing stream and mountain. Hitches up his pants, grabs his hat, heads out to his horse.

Jack comes staggering out of the tent as Ennis prepares to mount. Ennis mounts (his horse

).

JACK: See ya' fur supper.

Ennis looks down at Jack, sayin' not a goddamn word, grabs the reins, instructs his horse . . .

ENNIS: Hey-ah, come on . . .

Jack watches him gallop off.

Ennis rides up through the mountains to the sheep.......... the flock is grazing..... then he notices something (dogs barking) and hurries galloping towards it....... to discover it's a dead sheep half eaten up by the coyotes....... sad look on his face when looking at it (... or may be ashamed for not having been there to avoid it).....

...... it's dark,..... Ennis sits thoughtful looking at the fire..... the tent in the background...... Jack's in it getting ready to crash out....... Ennis looks at the tent.... hesitates..... slowly stands up and goes towards it.......

New Scene. We seem to see Ennis and Jack goofing off in the morning in the main camp. They chase each other around, wrestle a bit with each other, and end up kissing.

We realize that we are seeing everything through Aguirre's binoculars. He looks away in distaste...

Next scene :

.... Jack is chopping wood while Aguirre approaches on his horse...... Jack notices him....

Aguirre : Twist, your uncle Harold's in the hospital with pneumonia, docs don't spect he'll make it.....
...... your mom sent me to tell you so..... here I am.....

Jack : Bad news...... but ain't nothing I can do about it up here, I guess.....

Aguirre : ..... there's not much you can do about it down there neither... (he looks through his binoculars up to where Ennis is tending the sheep).... unless you can cure pneumonia.... (gives Jack a
nasty look, turns around his horse and leaves)
