jack/jake is the only man i like in this way (although i do have some confusion if how like him i am attracted to his hooootnes but not in a sexual manner anyway ill get back on topic) i think his cutest scene is probably through the conversation when ennis says his thought rodeo cowboys was all f**k ups jack make a cute kind off smile and the once he starts to jump around it is just so cute lol.
I do tend to think that The DE is neither cute nor sexy -- it is deep.
I absolutely agree. It's the spiritual.
I loved when he was tending sheep in the night on the mountain top... and he looked down towards the camp site where Ennis had the fire on. The look on his face said "I should be there with him".
Right, how long have you got? ;)
Cutest:
The scene that my avatar is taken from when he comes back to camp from tending the sheep and yawns then looks up at Ennis with those big blue eyes
or
The smile he gets on his face as Ennis says more words than he's said in a year
or
The excited "little boy at Christmas" act as Ennis makes him meet Alma at the reunion
or
The dimples in his cheeks as he lies in the motel bed with Ennis in his arms and says "Hell, yes I did. Redlined it all the way"
or
The smile when he looks up and sees Ennis arrive at one of their later camping trips
Sexiest:
Unbuckling his belt one handed in the FNIT (t)
or
The look he gives Ennis as he draws him forward to kiss him in the SNIT :d)
or
The way he lowers himself onto Ennis in the SNIT (t)
or
Lying in the motel bed with Ennis :d)
WOW.
And I must admit that his unbuckling of his belt using one hand reminds me of how Hal removed his shirt using one hand in "Proof". You are right, this is so sexy!
Yes, he's a talented boy is our Jake ;) Just think of the things he could do with two hands.... >:D
Anyway, back to topic....

i think jacks laugh when ennis says that he wished the harmonica had broken in too was really cute <^( <^(
and as for sexiest, ermm i dont know were to begin when isnt he sexy :P, he looks hot in SNIT but SNIT is more sweet <^(
oh i dont know there is too many to choose from :)
Cutest...When Jack lassos Ennis; when he's looking down on Ennis' camp at night; when he tries to clean Ennis' wound.
Sexiest...FNIT when he takes Ennis' hand and puts it on his erection. SNIT...all of it, but esp. when he lowers himself down onto Ennis. DE. Reunion. :-*

i just thought in FNIT he was putting ennis arm around him like a hug didnt realise he was putting it on his erection, i agree with the SNIT bit though it was so sexy but i would also call it sweet <^(
Yes, this was only explicitly stated in the short story. :)ahh i really must read the short story i need to find it though i think i know were to download it so that should be worth doing :)
The cutest Jack scene was when Jack introduces himself and says, "Your folks stop at Ennis?"
Awwww, that was the cutest thing ever. <^(

Well that about covers it for me. O0
More Cutest: dragging the sheep- cracks me up every time; when he giggles at Ennis harmonica's comment as Ennis sets up the tent.
When Ennis tells him "you'll run them sheep off again...." and he just keeps playing the harmonica and nodding his head.
All of his complaining sessions up on BBM that first summer- I love a complaining Jack. ;D
The shooting the elk scene.
Singing Water Walking Jesus and the way he says "I don't what the pentacost is."
More Sexiest: Even though it is a sad scene, he looks incredibly sexy in the scene where they part ways after coming down from the mountain. The SNIT look (bolded above) is just... no words.
The little "mmmmmm" he gives after Ennis says the sinner line.

Jack's embarassed look in the bucking horse scene. You know he did rather die than get thrown from that horse in front of Ennis. He knows Ennis will never let him live it down after his boasting about never getting thrown by a "philly".
Sexiest:
That smash mouth return kiss he laid on Ennis in the reunion scenes. As far as I'm concerned Ennis had a tiger by the tail with Jack clawing at his T- shirt underneath to point of stretching it out of shape. whooo weee! now that's hot!

One of the cutest is when he ropes Ennis and said "Time to get goin' cowboy".
The sexiest is the first time we saw him before he shaves. I love the slight stubble on his face when he turn around and lean on his truck and pose in front of Ennis. Sexy!

Yeah, Trent!! My favorite BBM scene!! <^( <^( <^(
And what about the expression on Jack's face when he trips Ennis with the lasso and Ennis grabs the rope and pulls him toward him. He did not expect Ennis to do this just like he had that same expression when he chided Ennis in the elk shooting scene and Ennis jumps up and pushes him. Cute.
Jack driving his boy around in the tractor. "no hands!" they both were so cute together.
Sexiest,
Jack in the Water Walkin Jesus scene. He has very long legs and that green coat .... Ennis also takes this "opportunity" to confess his virginity ,need I say more?
sexiest for me is seeing Ennis arm around Jack sleeping the tent.
cutest: the elk scene, its amazing how to see how Jack could make Ennis come out himself.
hmmm the elk seen is pretty damn cute <^(
i means woop awwww <^(

Ain't he sexy!!! That's one time in the movie that I would love to kiss him. ;D
Only one time Trent ;)
I think the cutest Jack scene is when he drives to see Ennis after the divorce is final. It starts out with Jack's absolute child like happiness, that just sort of screams, "yeah, I'm going to be with my man forever...finally". It turns into one of the most heartbreaking scenes, but before that happens, Jack is so cute in the way he's all jumpy and nervous and happy and excited all at once, and still has that look of need of approval from Ennis even though in that moment, he thinks he has it. The way Ennis is kind of backing away from him, and he so blinded by happiness, he just doesn't get and keeps moving towards him anyway. Jake acts the whole scene perfectly. How do you not fall in love with Jack in that moment? ^f^

Agree in everything Jess!!! Did you notice he was biting his lips when he saw Ennis and then he smiled wide? It was like saying "Mmmmm. I'd eat you just right here"

Cutest,
the look on Jack's face sleeping morning after FNIT. How cute is that?
Sexy,
Jack pounding the tent floor during FNIT. (t) (t) (t) His whole seduction of Ennis in FNIT was off the page sexy. I loved the roughness of the ...ahem...goings on. ;) ;) :*( :*(

You do get the impression that he was really wanting this for so long -- yes, very very sexy.

Yeah Thomas, you totally get the impression that Jack had probably stayed awake night after night thinking about Ennis, wondering if he felt the same , or was he just imagining the chemistry between them, and then to finally get him, and have his inclinations confirmed...he could now have his first good nights sleep in a long time :)nice way to put it jessi

jack is undoubtably cute in this scene, even though he was obviously uncomfortable. He is like a bear who has been caught falling into a tub of honey...i like the way he tries to make small talk and ennis just fidgits waiting for him, jack looks all flustered after the reunion kiss

It was so bold of Ennis to kiss Jack in the open like that. His love was so strong that he momentarily forgot his fear of being found out, and just let his passion and emotions and feelings and love come pouring out. It looks like in this scene, Jack is like "this is sort of awkward", he just wants to get the hell out of there and be alone with Ennis.
I always thought that he was thinking, *wow, this is the woman that has my man.*. I think he had a picture of Alma in his mind and this is not what he expected. His rival.

Wow, as many times as I have seen this scene (and there's no way to count) I never thought of it like that, I always focused on Jack just being in shock that Ennis couldn't wait to kiss him, when you know that he spent that whole drive thinking, "I hope we pick up where we left off". But I can definitely see that it would cross his mind that this is the woman who gets his man everyday. I do wonder what he was thinking about her, or how he had pictured her.
But I really think what makes Jack so cute in this scene, is his shy, almost innocence. He wanted Ennis so much, and when he got there and got what he wanted without even having to ask for it; well, he was like an excited child in a candy shop, wasn't he?
This whole scene in the kitchen entrance was intense as hell. I have to admit, when Jack kind of slowly, almost hesitently eases around that door jam, I was about to cringe as I did'nt really know if Alma was gonna have a spasm right then and there about what she'd seen or not. I started a thread on this very subject sometime back called " Jack's Impression of Alma". Feel free to look it up. ...very interesting posts there.
This has been said before in another thread, but how bout that little prolonged stare Jack gave Alma as they exited the house, as if to say * You may have married my man, but tonight? HE"S ALL MINE!. >:D cute. LOL!
For some weird reason I think Jack was really sexy, ...when he got mad and pitched a bitch about somethin ! he has great body language, hands on hips etc.... I adore him. I'm just strange I guess. ;) ;) :*( :*(
Not weird!! No, no!! I love bitching Jack!!! Jesus, he's damn sexy when he's mad, and I ADORE angry Jack's typical pose with his hands in his hips!!! Aaarrrrrggggg!!! I'd bite him!! >:D >:D >:Djsut bite him gently maybe on the nipple :P then do it again for me id do it myself but when im there my mouth is buissy :P hehe sorry about that perve burts :P and yes he is very very sexy and adorable angry <^( <^( <^(

It is so interesting for me to note that for many of us here, we find Jack so cute in a scene where he is clearly feeling most awkward and uncomfortable. Perhaps it is the sense of vulnerability that gets us here... The expression of his face shows both discomfort and sweetnesss...
I think it has to do a lot with the cuteness of his vulnerability. Jack is so much the initiator and the instigator in most scenes in the film. I don't just mean the way he takes control and instagates the sexual relationship between he and Ennis, but also the way he instigates the personal relationship. He has to start every conversation, and push to keep it going or Ennis would just let it stop. Because of this, Jack is constantly seen talking or laughing or singing or jumping around, trying to keep this "thing" going and evolving. That's why it is so cute, and really almost shocking to the system, when Jack is still and quite for a moment. That moment becomes so precious, because it is only then when that we get to see how much Jack is scared and truly lost without Ennis, he doesn't just want him, he needs him. When Ennis is quite, it's expected; when Jack is quite, it's deafening.

Yes, I do find Jack to be very "cute" in those moments when he is most vulnerable. Unfortunately, it is also during these moments when we feel deeply for him -- and our concern/sorrow for his situation in those moments tend to suppress our appreciation for the beauty of his look. :)
Totally Thomas,
It's in those cute "vulnerable" Jack moments that our feelings for him overtake the "cuteness". It's as though, we as the viewer, become so occupied with feeling for Jack and his situation, that our draw to him evolves from attraction into protection. I believe that's how Ennis felt also. I don't believe Ennis' fear of repercussions if they were ever found out were so much about a fear of his own well being, as much as it was a fear of Jack's. But this protection went both ways.
Maybe I'm odd for liking the more serious scenes, but I think another of the most adorable and precious Jack scenes is when Ennis returns to camp and has a head wound from being tossed by the horse. The swiftness in Jack's mood change, from hungry and angry to utter concern and fear when he sees that Ennis has been hurt. I wish I had a screen cap from that scene when Jack is attempting to apply the rag to Ennis' head. The look on his face, that just sort of says, I'm starting to care for you, I'm terrified by the fact that you were just hurt and might have never returned to this camp before I was ever able to touch you; this look is also mixed with an interesting hesitation to even touch Ennis with the cloth out of fear of rejection, which is exactly what he gets when Ennis pulls away and grabs the rag from him.
We got another classic, Oh poor sweet Jack was rejected again moment, but it works to drive us to the next scene; the cutest Jack scene of all in my opinion. It's when Ennis shoots the antelope and Jack reacts by daring to touch Ennis again, this time Ennis reacts by playfully shoving Jack back hard, as if to say, "Yeah I'll touch you, but on my own terms, on my own time"(and most importantly, when I'm in a powerful moment with my gun in my hand, not wounded and vulnerable like the night before); and Jack simply reacts with a thrilled smile to say, I'll take it however you're willing to give it ;)
Jess, I like the owrd you used "overtake". I was trying to find the right word, and this is it. :)yep i agree and isnt jacks face just beautiful with that admiration streched accross it <^( <^(
Yes, the Elk scene is so cute because I feel that in spite of a possible underlying subtext to their body language, you see genuine pleasure in Jack's face. He could have sulked, since Ennis was trying to show what a poor marksman he was, but he was simply caught up with admiration for Ennis, and it showed in his face. :)

Earlier in this thread I posted the same as you here. I think Jack was just adorable in the bear scene. His eyes showed pure devotion already.
Yes, I do remember Tammy's and I should have noted that this scene had been cited beforehand.i think i mentioned that bit a while ago it always get my heart fluttering deffinatly one of the cutest very similar to when he clears Ennis wound with the cloth although i suppose it was a very similar thing except the cloth was replaced with the bare hand and the open wound was replaced with a gaping emotional wound.
I found very cute the scene after the Earl and Rich episode, where we see Jack touching Ennis's face. His face was adorable.

Beautiful parallels and contrasts you draw here, zankou. :)thanks :)
I remembered today a scene where Jack looks so cute. It's in Texas, during the rodeo where Jack met Lureen, when Lureen winked at Jack after Jack gave her the hat, Jack's face is all gooey and dreamy. He looked at her all shy and happy, and when she was riding away he was looking in her direction, smiling softly and with "that" face, you know, full of sweetness. He looks so innocent and young. His face is adorable, totally endearing there. Please, go and see what I'm saying. Awww, it's like he can't believe that someone so full of life, sexy, bold and wild, like Lureen looked, can smile at him and wink at him, and not reject him like others did.

Another scene I think Jack is so cute is the Divorce scene. Like Jess and I said Jack is so cute when he arrives and gives "that" look to Ennis, biting his lips. But now, I'm talking about when he was speaking to Ennis' girls. He was looking at Ennis so full of sweetness and desire and hope and love; then he looked briefly at the girls, but he couldn't help it and he looked at Ennis again, so hungry for Ennis eyes, Ennis words about them. Till Ennis said those horribles words and Jack understood that they were not gonna live together, he was unable to look away form Ennis, smiling softly and shyly, breathing hard, so excited, so so so happy, almost quivering. His face there was gorgeous, full of light and life, and he looked like a child in front of a candies shop, he was about to jump. I think if Ennis had said "yes", Jack had danced like crazy right there!!!
That look full of hope is really endearing, sweet, sweet. Melts my heart. <^( <^( Too bad that the scene ended sadly with a devastated Jack. :\'( :\'(

How bout Jack standing next to his truck, wearing that red shirt...GULP.
hmm he was cute and it was too bad it ended the way it did :-\\. it makes you wonder how different things would have been if ennis has accepted.
I love it Tammy!!! I can told totally see Jack just dancing around and yelling all happy, if Ennis had truly said he was going to be with him forever. I love how Jack transends into a childlike manner whenever he is in a serious situation. Whether really he's very happy(hitting Ennis when elk is shot/reinacting bull riding), or very angry(final confrontation scene). Some have mentioned in this thread already how, even though sad and serious, Jack is so cute when he gets angry and puts his hands on his hips. It's like a childish pout. Soooo cute :)
Tammy's commeht reminded me of this: how about the smile he gives after he won the rodeo? That was so cute. :)
And also, even when he was getting ready to ride the bull: he seemed so nervous -- and delicious! ;)

Yes Thomas, Jack has a great way of smiling when he has accomplished something he wanted, but almost wasn't expecting to because there were so few times in his life that he actually got what he wanted. The rodeo win smile is definitely in my top 10, but number one accomplishment smile is in the hotel room while laying in bed with Ennis when he says he didn't know they were going to get into this again, then..."Hell yeah I did".......and then.....cue the perfect Jack smile :) :) :)thats deffinatly one of the best i call it the laugh in ear <^( <^( <^( (im not inventive with the names lol)
Yes, yes, Thomas!!! I love how he was moving his fist, so nervous, up and down, counting the seconds the other cowboy was on top of the bull. Damn sexy!!!! (t) (t) (t)

Yeah, the laugh in the ear smile :) He also kind breaths into it, blowing air. I always expect Ennis' ear to switch like a horse from the blown air, but it never does :(
I also thought that he was smelling Ennis's hair. I do love that scene. Jack certainly looked cute because you could tell that he was deeply happy at that moment.its one of those moments when you just know how pure there love is. not that there is a shortage of those moments but every one is preciouse :)

Awwww, yeah Thomas, he does seem to be smelling Ennis' hair, like later with Ennis and the shirts, just trying to burn each others' scents in their minds forever <^(
The sense of their smelling each other nakes everything more visceral, I think. Cute, yes. But something more underneath!
No doubt about that, Thomas!!! Jack and Ennis' smells were a very important part in the SS, so I think Ang tried to give us that in the film too. It's something powerful and haunting, that every brokie talks about in every fic and almost in every poem.
Other cute scene is the shot of Jack watching Ennis ride off, his face is so dreamy and full of love, gorgeous!! <^(
i find it too hard to call the DE cute its deffinaltly powerful and shows the love and so sweet but i dont think cute quite cuts it if you understand i cant explain what i mean well.
Yes, I think the emotion and the power of the scene makes it difficult. We are not unaffected by the beauty, but it is a beauty that sears rather than charms...yer see i told you i was a rubbish explainer :P, i struggle to get something out that barely makes sense and tpe comes and says it perfectly lol. i think i need to go to a class to become more articulate in my writing :P
Well, your meaning was clear enogh, I think. It is difficult to see "cuteness" in the very intense, emotional scenes, even if Jack's look (or Ennis's) may look it if the context were different. Context and perception is strongly linked, IMO.yes i agree :)
SNIT is definitely one of Jack's sexiest. What I found cute about it is when he lies down in the beginning, waiting for Ennis, looking half anxious and yet by and large confident that Ennis will come to him.
Yes,everything in Jack in this scene is cute and sexy at the same time:from the way he's waiting for Ennis, half doubting if he'll come and half sure he will-as you say-,to the way he takes the initiative in making a physical approachment. From the incredible glance he looks Ennis with-who isn't surrender to this glance?...-to the way he embraces him,as protecting him and making him feel secure. From the way he tenderly smells and kisses Ennis hair to the kisses he gives his lover on his neck, which sound we can hear perfectly. From the way he looks at him one more time by having his head between his hands to the following and passionate kiss...Do I need to say more?. <^(
Thanks MPJ. :)
When Ennis finally enters the tent, Jack certainly didn't leave anything else to chance -- he certainly takes the initiative in the kiss that followed. We see him guiding Ennis's face to his face, and we see that there is an amount of initial resistance on Ennis's part, and Jack guides him... Seeing Jack as sexual mentor is what makes this scene very cute and very moving at the same time. :)
Cutest:
In the very beginning of FNIT. Right after Ennis has laid down to sleep. In the very end of this scene Jack smiled (my avatar)
What makes it even cuter is the fact that Jack was determined to make it romantic this time. Like, yeah, the first time was rough and to the point, but now you're gonna kiss me the whole time, and you're gonna like it ;)

This picture just kills me. It might sound perverse, but Jack is so cute in those moments when he is most vulnerable.
I don't think it's perverse,Thomas, but very normal. It's Jack being more human, more similar to any of us,what makes him more attractive as man and as person...But in this sense,I prefer older Ennis precisely when he's also more vulnerable; used as we're to seeing him in his "strong and almost violent macho man" disguise, seeing him crying or lowering his sentimental guard is what makes him also more human and,so,more attractive in all senses for me.As a matter of fact,Jack shows himself more vulnerable all the time by demonstrating his feelings, his dependence of his lover,in a opener way;Ennis,on the contrary,is hiding them almost always... :c)
Well, this certainly makes sense -- especially the part about Ennis showing his vulnerability -- although Ennis in the last part of the Last Confrontation is just too intense...

Baby Tammy.
The one you pointed out as your fav (face to face) is also my favorite in the scene. Ennis has his *stare*, but Jack has one of his own. This is not the Jack, Ennis is used to dealing with. Gorgeous!.
Oh my!! I really really REALLY love the little sound with does with his lips after he says "BBM got us good" and before he says "what are we gonna do now?".i know what you mean all to well... i actually watched that scene repeatedly a few days ago when i was meant to be making a video ;D, one bit i kept replaying was when he laughs quietly in Ennis' ear... <^( <^( <^( <^( <^(
He said "BBM got us good" and then close his eyes, MAKE THAT SEXY AS HELL SOUND and sighs...shaking his head and breathing into Ennis head!!! OMG!! Just thinking about it my heart melts!!
That tiny moment is extremely gorgeous, sweet and sexy, all at the same time!! Please, just watch that part again!!! I could spent a whole day just seeing that moment. I wonder how Ennis survived that....I'd have jumped Jack right there!!! >:D >:D >:D Or maybe not...because I'd be a happy puddle on the floor..... <^( <^(
Cutest Jack scene (and I've seen this mentioned somewhere before but can't find the thread at the moment) is when they are saying goodbye after coming down off the mountain and Jack asks Ennis if he will be going back next summer and he does a kind of cute eyebrow raise, that looks so hopeful and sweet. I also love it when he talks about his son and says "... smiles a lot".

I don't know how you do it but you keep finding me those perfect moments. Thanks once again. So ofcourse, I now just have to stare at this for some considerable amount of time, alone with my own private (naughty) thoughts. He's just so damn cute, aint he?

How can you not love him? ;)
He is cutest when he is most vulnerable, ironically...
Thanks, desperatehousewife.
Yes,he is,but this can be applied also to Ennis,no?.For example, when he enters in the tent the second night and he gives himself completely to Jack...But,well,this is a Jack's thread,so,yes,he's lovely in this scene when he tries desperately to have some clue from Ennis to know if they'll meet each other again;when he says that he'll maybe come back to the mountain next year, his face is a kind of beg to his friend,as telling to him:-"Please,don't go,give me at least some hope that we'll see again.I need you so much¡".
Very well said MPJ. This is the way I see him too, and what he's thinking. He needs a sign from Ennis that they will meet again , the sooner the better. I also feel he knows deep inside that it's really what Ennis wants too. He wants to say,: I know about Alma and all, but, what about us? and what happened to us up there on Brokeback? Are you gonna forget me? He seems to know that Ennis joined with him up there and knows that Ennis is only doing this (marrying Alma) out of obligation and not true love. Knowing this made the parting even more tragic for him.
:t) Aintfoolin ¡ .Yes,I also feel that he knows that being together is what Ennis wants too,but only a part of him;the other part I guess is feeling that his friend is too "prisoner" of society's rules and his own fears as to give this, for him, enormous jump.He knows that marrying Alma is the best solution to obey to these rules and fears, that it doesn't answer necessarily to a real love;but Ennis is going to do it,however, and Jack knows the wall that this is going to build between them...For this same reason,I've always thought that he was easier than Ennis; he still believed they'd be together out of the mountain, while Ennis felt rather worse because he knew"that isn't going to happen, even if I wish it".It's a difficult situation to Jack, but perhaps more still to Ennis, because saying "NO" when you wish to say "YES" with all the consequences,is a hard thing to do.
Again, your exactly right. Do you get the feeling that Ennis trying to de-program himself from his experience on Brokeback in order to go on to this *married life* with Alma?, and that it was'nt working? Indeed, I love what you say , it is hard to say "no" when every part of you wants to scream "yes", It made him physically sick to do it. He was'nt as strong as he thought he was. Anyway, maybe think were getting *o). The situation was'nt cute or sexy, but my heart went out to both of them, physically, they're both simply gorgeous in any setting. Thanx.
And thanks again for your words, but I can assure you that they're felt words, not only spoken or written...Yes,you're right,Ennis always tried to take away from him the "chip" of what had happenned on the mountain and put inside his brain the "chip" of a perfect husband and more perfect future father...And yes again,we're completely *o) ~) ::) ...For me these scenes aren't either cute or sexy;it isn't to see somebody suffering. What is cute for me is the way they fell in love, even if they didn't want to accept it,IMO.

Cutest Jack-
"Your Folks Stop at Ennis" too cute like he really couldnt wait for Ennis to talk to him <^(
At the bar when his hat is on his head and he's talking to Ennis a mile a minute he looked so adorable and young and innocent but not as innocent as we think ;)
The morning after the FNIT when he ask Ennis will see him for supper and Ennis gives Jack "the look" he seemed to worry that maybe the night they had would push Ennis away for good but who could turn down that face not me O0

The look he gives Ennis during the tussle in the FNIT right when he takes that jacket off he knows what he wants and he's letting Ennis know and apparently how he wants it (t) :d)

When he climed on top of Ennis in the SNIT and went for it as the Missy Elliot Keisha Cole song says "Damn thats hot" >:D
The other look he gives Ennis during the Reunion kiss OMG (t)

Would it surprise you that when the movie first came out, some forum members found the rodeo "dance" Jack did for Ennis a bit "awkward" to watch? I personally found it both cute and awkward the first time I saw it -- perhaps it was cute because it was so awkward. :)
Are you serious some brokies didnt like it :)It was like a mating dance to me done at the perfect time I thought that Jack was slowly bringing Ennis out of himself and the dance happens just before what :d)FNIT I would have found it weird had he done it right at the beginning it seems Jack knew when he should make a move like when he started to walk over to Ennis at the trailor then changed his mind smart move I thought
Yes, I remember a very early post here on the forum -- in the thread about scenes you didn't like. I remember at least one member saying that he/she didn't like this scene.
I think the scene grows on you. When I saw it the first time, I was taken aback by Jake's very generous acting. As I saw the scene more and more later, I appreciated it for what it was -- a subtle and wonderful expression of how happy Jack was when he realized in that scene that he and Ennis actually connected. That's what makes it so cute, IMO. :)
Yeah, tpe, I remember reading that too , some one found it offensive, but I saw it as just Jack making fun of himself following Ennis's rodeo f-ckups remark. I feel this kind of playfullness in Jack, is one of the traits Ennis adored about Jack. He was wild and crazy and Ennis playfuly chided him back about it, like Jack's harmomica playing. Ennis always smiled or joked with Jack about it. It was cute and sexy too. I love the way the horse reacted when Jack fell. :*(loved the horses reaction too ;D, it was clearly thinking... what the f**k... "my parents told me never work with phoals or humans" %&)

I had no idea some brokie reacted negatively towards the rodeo dance, I loved it. It just reminded me a innocent little boy having no idea how to act towards his crush, so he gets all nervous(in this grownup case, drunk) and acts silly trying to get his attention...it was classic!thats what i thought... when he first started off i was like "what the f..." and then i was like "aww thats pretty cute"...and i thought i was straight... ^*() haha

jessicat80, and Matt take a look inside the thread about Scenes we "Dislike" and you will see a number of posts there. I think "dislike" is too strong a word. I guess what they meant was that it felt awkward.ill find that thread and take a look :)

;D Yeah right....straight back to Jake's place! ;D
I really wish that scene had continued longer, it would have been very interesting to see the behavior that followed...and I don't just mean that sexually ::)
;D Yeah right....straight back to Jake's place! ;D
I'm sure this has been in this thread already, but I seem to be in an older Jack phase right now. I keep thinking about the Thanksgiving scene when Jack first stands up to LD, which is sexy in itself (fierce Jack) but what I really think is just the cutest thing about it is when he takes the knives to "be the stud duck" and cut it himself, and he kinda stalls and hesitates for a moment, like, ok, now I'm in control, what the hell do I do.
This cute hesitation is evident whenever Jack seems to try and take control, it's in the final confrontation scene, in the "maybe you should try a change like Texas" scene, and a couple others. It seems like the only time he takes control and doesn't follow it with any hesitation is in the SNIT scene. I really wish that scene had continued longer, it would have been very interesting to see the behavior that followed...and I don't just mean that sexually ::)
you too it would have been nice to see based on how the morning after the FNIT didnt turn out that great but considering in the light of day they had the sexiest game of tag ever :i so my heart tells me based on that after they finished making love that went better than the first time i would love just to see them lying there not needing to say much but just their touch and looks saying everything maybe theres a another directors cut we dont know about :s) ;)
I must also say that Lureen also looked pretty cute in this scene -- perhaps one of the very few instances we see her visibly approving of her man -- perhaps because he stood up to her father in a way that she never did.
But yes, the contrast between Jack's initial docile attitude (at the start of the dinner) contrasts sharply with his taking control later on. Even when he's angry, he is quite cute. :)
OT a bit, but I think Lureen gets overlooked too much. I think her and Jack worked as friends and I can imagine her understanding when/if he had "come out". I thought they really had a connection.i always thaugh lureen and jack would have made much beter best friens then lovers...
I love the look on his face the first time they are dancing in the bar....like, ok, even I can appreciate what this gal has to offer. And I don't just mean sexually, I mean as a person, there's just a twinkle in his eyes; he wants to know her.
i always thaugh lureen and jack would have made much beter best friens then lovers...
Me too, I felt like she was pushing him to come out, like when she said "Why is it that husbands never seem to want to dance with their wives." I think she had a great sense, and had figured out Jack, and by saying that sarcastically in front of LaShawn and Randall, maybe she could even tell about Randall.haha yer <^(
I love the look on Jack's face when he says he dont know, and then looks at LaShawn all serious and asks her to dance, like he's saying to Lureen, you can know whatever you know, but I ain't admitting it yet; deal with it. Then he has such a cute and guilty smile on his face while they are dancing, like, Ugh, the things I do for Ennis ::) So cute!

I loved when he was tending sheep in the night on the mountain top... and he looked down towards the camp site where Ennis had the fire on. The look on his face said "I should be there with him".

Very interesting Jess. Perhaps they would have been better business partners than lovers/mates. I think what you say is true for the younger Lureen, but I wonder if this would apply to the older one? Lureen hardened over the years -- probably because work and the family business consumed everything in the end. It left no room for anybody else, I think. Certainly no room for Bobby. And no room for Jack as husband.
Hi ya Thomas, I'm curious what you're going on with the Bobby comment? Just the Thanksgiving scene?
I think older Lureen is hardened, but more so to outside people, like when they met LaShawn and Randall and she make s the snippy sorority comment....but when alone with Jack like when he's looking for his parka (which is my 3rd fav scene in the cute Jack scenes, something about the purple and aging makeup!!!), she has a coldness edge and seems to pretend like he's a pain, yet also seem to genuinely care for the fact that he drives a million mile to Ennis, why does he have to put so much effort into his and Ennis' "friendship" almost like she's hinting to the fact that it was herself having to put all the effort into hers and Jakes relationship, I think she sympathized with Jack loving someone without the same effort being returned.
Even in the phone conversation with Ennis, I sometimes feel that she was more concerned about guarding/hiding the "secret" for the good of the family, rather than grief over Jack's death. This is just me, perhaps...
i do sort of see this coming through, but i do still think lureen grieved...

Hello Jess. :)
Well, at least as far as the Thanksgiving scene goes, we see a side of Lureen that can still be very pleased with Jack -- especially when he put her dad in his place. But I wonder sometimes whether she was more pleased about her dad being put in his place than she was with the fact that Jack was the one who did it.
That's interesting, yeah, I can see how she might have just been reacting to the fact that her dad was put in his place, I'm sure he drove her just as crazy as he drove Jack. She did have a bit of an eye role when LD said the baby was a spitting image of his grandpa, she sort of looks at Jack like can you believe that jerk and Jack gives that cute little fake whatever LD smile, I think he and Lureen had a connection just through their hatred of her dad. Like a connection through the fact that they were both together because they were running away from something.
i do sort of see this coming through, but i do still think lureen grieved...
She may have greived yes, but not for the Jack she had come to know, but for the Jack who once was. The tone she used during the phone conversation with Ennis about Jack was bitter. She had her world, he had his a total disconnect at that point.that's just my opinion.hehe sneaky jack is deffinatly cute, you can jsut see him thinking..."ha ha this is gonna be easy" ;D
Anyway, sexy Jack:
, definitly lowering himself slowly onto Ennis in SNIT while kissing him, then hesitates, looks down at Ennis , then plants the sexiest kiss between two people in the history of film on em imo. There's also a little "motion of the ocean "in the lower body parts during this too. I know it's acting, but sometimes I wonder how they kept certain...ahem, .body parts ...under control and unaltered after so many takes to get it right.
Cute: His reaction to Ennis's lack of *opportunity* to be a sinner. That little "Hmmmmm" ...hands Ennis more whiskey and gives a little snicker...end of scene. I love it.

I don't know, Thomas....I think Lureen really grief over Jack's death...Even if they didn't love each other anymore, They spent 16 years together and It's difficult not to grief over the lost of someone you have spent a big part of your life. They didn't love each other but they certainly didn't hate each other, so Jack's death must hurt Lureen....Jack was the father of her son, her co worker, her friend, and he was long time ago the man who made her smiled and dreamt, so yes, even if only for the memory of all those things shared, I think she grief...
Just my humble opinion, Thomas. It's difficult for me to believe that after 16 years Jack meant nothing to her, didn't deserve even a tear.
i do sort of see this coming through, but i do still think lureen grieved...

just like thanksgiving when Jack put LD in his place the look on her face was priceless like "whew bout time somebody said it" ;D

Cutest
While dancing with Lureen he has this dreamy look in his eyes and we all know he's thinking of Ennis <^(
I think a really cute scene is when Jack ropes Ennis around the ankles and he trips and that starts their tussel/play fight before it becomes a real fight. That laugh Jack lets out is so cute it makes me smile. Sexy just has to be whenever Jack gazes at Ennis with those beautiful bedroom eyes, just makes my heart melt <^( sigh
I thought that (at least the beginning of) the scene leading up to the fight was also especially sexy -- also, the implication of "roping" Ennis has a lot of significance.
I agree that the lasso scene is one of the cutest. Jack was trying so hard to lighten the mood. The SNIT for me is the sexiest. From the "spit string" kiss to Ennis exploring Jack's body, and especially when Jack lowers his body on top of Ennis'. yummy! (t) Love it when Ennis lifts his head to return the kiss! <^(
Thanks Tammy and atalley!
What I found especially cute was the start of the SNIT, when he was witing for Ennis. You could sense some anticipation -- and fear? -- although he looked relatively relaxed and confident...
Yes, I sensed a little fear also, when he shoots a glance at the opening of the tent like, "is he actually coming in, ok, stay calm!" <^(
Exactly. He looked a bit anxious in the beginning, no? It was as if he was not entirely sure what Ennis was going to do.
I could get really deep and philosophical here....but the boy could of just been nervous cause he was still still a little sore ::);D true enough lol
;D No, truthfully, I think Jack was nervous that Ennis would stop this before it went any futher, but I think that cute little nervous waiting was brought on by belief that Ennis would come into the tent.
Jack was silently calling him in by laying there with the doorflap open just enough to see him laying there without a shirt...just waiting....I mean, come on, it was still light out...he wasn't goin to sleep yet ;)
well I'm off to watch it again especially that Jack rolling on top of Ennis :i :i nope cant get enough of that ;D
I'm getting hot and bothered just thinking about it! ;D ;)two totally understandable statements ;D (t)
Ok, I'm totally going off sexy path we were on...sorry ::) But when I was watching the other day, a moment came on I thought was cute, but never gave much thought to(other than the fact the tractors called "the Versatile" ;) )yep every secong of this film has a great deal of significance, and that is a cute scene with jack and bobby in the combine
It's the scene where Jack is on the big combine thing with Bobby steering it. I thought this was a really cute Jack scene. And going back to the name of the machine, it's so easy to view it as a sexual joke...the Versatile...but it's actually in a scene that's displaying Jack's versatility in molding into a role to fit everyone else's needs.
He's a father when with Bobby...a husband to Lureen, even if just in a matter of dealing with Bobby's school needs in the blue parka scene... and his favorite role as Ennis' man when with him.
It's such a sweet scene with him and his boy, showing their everyday lives, but it also seems to say so much more...like every moment in this film does.
I do think Jack was very cute in that scene with his son on the tractor (?) You could tell that he did have a genuine enjoyment at being a father to his son. Sometimes, I find it hard to reconcile this with his being able to drop all this to go with Ennis. But love is a strange thing...
Maybe I disagree for the first time with you,Thomas.Yes,Jack was cute in that scene and he really seemed to enjoy his father's role. But I remember having talked about this subject in another thread;to leave his wife to go with Ennis doesn't mind necessarily that he had to quite his son and his commitment in his education and emotional/economical wellfare.Life is full with people who split and it doesn't mean that they do the same with their children; couple's love can finish, but father/mother's love can't.IMO,and sorry for being *o) .hmm well im going to jump in here lol, i think is the SS it was more explicitly stated that Jack was willing to leave lureen AND bobby, i suppose you are right in that he may still support bobby but i dont think he would really be much of a part of bobbys life anymore... but i suppose no one knows...
Well, what MPJ suggests here may be more than just plausible. It's a hard thing determining how much Jack would have been involved with Bobby, or whether Lureen would have let him. Certainly, Lureencould argue that they didn't need jack's support, and we recall that the ender Newsome was willing to come to terms with jack monetarily if only he were to disappear -- and I would gather that this meant completely disappear. jack didn't seem to have had any problems with this -- but then again, perhaps he understood that the bonds of a father to son can never be completely erased, no matter what happened.perhaps so :s)
Cutest Jack scene would be hmmm, maybe when he's pealing those potatoes, and trying so hard not to look. And every time when he looks at Ennis, sad, happy, angry, what ever way, it's so damn cute.
And the sexiest.. Whoah, they are plenty.. but one is when Jack comes to see Ennis after hearing about the divorce, he's so anxious, wired up, and that happiness, my God!

it was cute when during the "getting tired of your dumbass missin" that laugh giggle Jack gives after Ennis pushes him sooo cute <^( <^(
but then when he gets all up in Ennis's face okay now that was sexy :d) it would have been totally ok if they choose to makeout there ;)
For some reason, I think that the post-divorce meeting has a number of cute moments, even though it is essentially tragic. The Jack-lick in that scene is certainly VERY cute. And his child-like anticipation before Ennis gives him the bad news is also so cute...

Heathlover,I am crazy after Jack/Jake
Hope you don't mind me stealing your format, but Jack deserves equal time. :*(
Cutest:
" Your folks just stop at Ennis? That smile....and those eyes ...killer.
Sexiest : When I see him leaning/sprawled across that truck in his black cowboy hat, I almost died. Lord have mercy, there outta be a law! lookin so fine.
Thios both so cute and yet so full of pathos.so true....he missed him :(

A lot of the expressiveness in Jack can be seen through his eyes, no? DEpending on how they appear, one can read happiness or pathos. In a lot of the cutte scenes we mention here, the eyes play such a huge role in connecting with us viewers...

Yes,of course...The more expressive scenes-being cute or sexy-aren't verbal, but visual, and specially Jack/Jake's eyes speaks more clearly and deeply than his words. :-X

I know I'm not the only one that thinks that zip up before the shirtless wrestling was hot :d)
Just watched a Youtube clip and noticed how very sexy Jack is in the scene where he is peeling the potato and Ennis is strip-washing in the background. I love the way the cigarette is hanging in his lips, and you sense he soooooo wants to look, but dare not!
ooh desperate i'm glad you brought that up they both looked hot with the whole cigarette thing :i even though cigarattes aint normally my thing, but also when Jack has his hands on that buckle or resting on his waistband of those jeans hot hot hot :d)oh yes Jack is so hot when he does that!

Jake's portrayal of Jack in BBM is both sensual and expressive.
Sensual and expressive are the two adjectives that fits the best with Jack. And both of them are guided by emotions, never by low instints. <^(
Your last statement hits it right on the mark, IMO
AF, I read somewhere that Jake said that the mess with the can opener was not planned!!! It just happened....and Jake and Heath improvised, and Ang liked it so he included the take in the film!!! Who wouldn't be nervous with Heath shirtless by your side? ::) ::)
Totally believable about Jake. Apparently he does'nt cook many cans of pork and beans huh? %( ;D Mr, Ennisent was kinda pouring it on though. Oh so unaware of the effect his grooming regimen was having on Jack. One sock, one boot, one sock , one boot, ( my kinda guy! )shirtless and shaving, and Jack wondering what's coming next. His nervousness heightened with each step. Check out the *what the hell are you doing?* look Ennis gives him after Jack spills the beans. His dinner preparations are interrupted , and distracted by this whole ritual of Ennis's grooming. "balls the size of apples?" wow. ...more innuendo on Ennis's part. Then he has to peel potatoes...with a knife.. That took all the composure he had left! ;DI don't think he was even aware any more that he was having a smoke. It's enough to throw any one off when you have feelings toward one as Jack did. Major crushin on Ennis! <^( <^(
YEEESS!! You're so right!! I saw that look!!!! And I think it was not only Ennis but Heath too thinking "what the hell are you doing?"!!!
AF, I loved your post. It's so funny and it talks about very sexy and erotic things!!! YUMMY things!!! >:D >:D >:D
Thanks,Thomas¡.I really think that, even if his libido was,of course, much greater than Ennis's,he always behaved moved by his feelings. His main organ was the heart, not the c*ck.-emotionally speaking,of course... :8 -.
A bizarre sexy scene has come to mind (having just watched the film for the 6th time), bizarre in that it's Jack's hand that I find unbelievably sexy in the reunion kiss scene, when Ennis first kisses him and Jack's hand comes up and takes hold of the back of Ennis's head - I love it, I love it, with the ring on the finger and all!wow..I love this scene too.... I love the look Jack gives Ennis too after Ennis kisses him....its a current that goes through Jack and he is charged with so much love and affection that he wanted to reciprocate that love and he holds his head and reciprocates the affection <^( <^(
Thomas, you are normally so good at finding a pic of all my fave hot scenes, can you find this one?
Just one of the many cute scenes, that adorable look he gives Ennis when he tries to wipe the blood from his head - for me that is the first look of "love" - it tears me apart everytime I see it. God he has a way of "looking", doesn't he?

I'm digging through my stash to see if I can find the pics. I have every other reunion pic except the one with Jack's hand. ::)

It was even more intense as it was repressed for 4 long long years of seperation..finally they were together after so long and Jack was so overwhelemed with the response he recieved from Ennis in the reunion scene...it was a perfect example of spontaneous, pure, strong yet warm and repressed love that gushesd out like a volcano <^( <^(
I just ADORE that moment when Jack holds Ennis head!! It's beautiful, erotic and moving... <^( <^(
We are so carried away by Ennis's unbelievable happiness that we sometime forget to see how equally ecstatic Jack was at this moment.
As they embrace, we hear Jack tenderly "cussing" Ennis. So much love and emotion is condensed in those words: SOAB!
Incidentally, do all of you remember the scenes where we hear Jack saying SOAB or variants thereof? There are many ways in which Jack uses these words to highlight different emotions. Very interesting -- and sometimes cute and sexy, I would say!

Seeing the body language in the reunion scene for the first time was an increadibly intense experience, no? But the scene happens so fast that I wonder if people really realize what makes this scene so intense. We have seen it many times, of course, and so we just know how much the details (such as the hand) heighten our emotional response to the scene.
Yes, it is moving and erotic at the same time.
Me too :)
Yeah, he does that the whole time!!! And it's so damn sexy and cute. <^( <^( He used that SOAB in the reunion scene because he didn't find words right there, so much overwhelmed with his love, and that expression said it all. SOAB, why in the hell did you leave me go that summer?
Then, he used that very same expression in the confrontation scene to show his rage, pain and sadness....

Just thought of another adorable cute one:
The scene where Jack is telling Ennis that they have to leave the mountain, and Ennis rebuffs Jack's offer of a loan, and Jack does one of those adorable looks and says in the cutest softest way, and maybe slightly hurt and confused, "allright". Just love it!
Yes,I agree with you¡.Most of the times,Jack/Jake makes us falling in love with him only with his glances strength and his voice's softness, doesn't he?And the scene you describes is a good example of this.

Oh My God! I loved him so much there! I felt so bad for him!
I'm in love with Jake like crazy! I can never stop thinking about him! <^( ^f^
He tried his best not to show his hurt, but you can hear it in his voice, and a little bit of it shows in his eyes...
His expression was so well done! You could actually FEEL what he felt! <^(
And I actually felt the hurt when you hear his voice sort of break, no? It is both cute and sad -- if that makes any sense. So many times he was like a little boy, innocence lost, so sweet and yet so sad.

Just watched the first 1/2 of the DVD again last night (oh darn hee hee). IMO the cutest is the expression on Jack's face as he's bounding about on his "low startle point" horse that first morning in camp, kind of like, "what? I can do this" to Ennis. I also love the giggle/grin when Ennis teases him about if he'd got lucky the harmonica would have broken.
Sexiest: Jack/Jake has a way of tongue teasing; sticking it out just a tiny bit from the corner of his mouth. This strikes me as sexy for some crazy reason. I find Heath a sexier man, but Jake just has those EYES - I'm sure we've all gotten lost in them, am I right? And I bet he'd be a great kisser. He has very mobile lips - lots of pucker.
It's getting hot in here!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me about it! You may find the Jakelicks thread to be right up your alley. :)
I concur about Heath being sexier, but would still love to drown in those eyes of Jake's.
Wow, I totally forgot to mention the splattered beans scene - too cute - I think I remember hearing this was not supposed to happen but Jake stayed in character. So funny considering his "I'm pretty good with a can opener" line!
Another sexy (and Jake isn't really my type so I think it's funny that I keep coming up with more) - view of Jack's LOOOONNGG legs in snug jeans - I'm thinking specifically of the lake scene as he's facing away from Ennis and he's got the tan parka on. Sad scene but this shot of Jake is very nice to look at.
i too have heard it was accidental :) so yes that adds cuteness
Yes, and I think that ther splattered bean scene was perhaps accidental -- which made it all the more cute. :)

I loved the 2nd tent scene where Jack had this caring expression on his face, he just wanted to make Ennis relax... and not stress out like he did during the first tent scene which was H.o.t.
And his voice -- heard sotto voce -- was very sexy.
Yes,it was,the same than in the motel scene, with that "Old Brokeback got us good...". (t)I swear, there is a sweet whisper in his voice...that was so dam hot <^( :d)

I love the way they hold each other in the Motel....its so sweet and hot... (t)
The way Jack holds Ennis was both intimate and, yes, very sexy. And there were times in that scene where I think he was smelling Ennis's hair... Am I the only one who gets this impression? I doubt it...
You doubt brilliantly! I love it, and I love that it seems he is taking in the scent of Ennis. His hair. He could have smelt any part of his lover (which I'm sure he had and will) but the hair can be cut off, detached, grow back without any sensory perception of pain. It titillates my imagination, and I find it likely that it could be Jack's most striking recap of where his lover has been. His hair, like a nest, a cobweb accumulating the fragments and molecules of his immediate surroundings. Before I trail off into the wonders of space, I do find this scene and particularly the intimacy quite sexy, romantic, natural. It plays like a rich contrast to nearly any other (Hollywood) love scene I've seen.
It is. Like when Ennis smells the shirts, has one instance of a memory and knows what he had was love.
I still wonder what it would have been like to read of SNIT in the SS. I have always been attracted to the male scent personally, and this certainly didn't make the scenes of scent in either version of Brokeback any simpler for me to digest. That is that there was an emotional pretense I carried through the BBM experience.
As for both cute and sexy (from the perspective of either Jack or Ennis), my gawd does Ennis snatching Jack's shirt and wrestling him ever stand out. :) ^-^

I suspect that the SNIT would have been "rougher" and more "smelly/sweaty" had Proulx included it in the ss. This is indeed a perfect foil to the motel scene, in that I think we also seem to sense that Ennis was smelling Jack in this very scene.
But do you also get the impression that Jack was (again) smelling Ennis's hair, as in the later motel scene?
Yes, and yes. :)
Yes, this is a very Whitmanesque scene. Explicitly so. Very saey: for both Jack AND Ennis.
All the scenes with Jack (and Ennis) where we get a feeling of the sensual element (smell, touch, etc...) -- very very sexy.
How about when they're tumbling down the hill before departing, and Jack giggles as Ennis (as it at least seems at one point) tickles him. Before it gets violent, I find it really cute. :c)
Oh, I love the tumbling about on the hill - so adorable! And when Jack realizes he's bloodied Ennis' nose, his voice is so tender and caring - "Ennis, Ennis, c'mere, you're all right, c'mere, you're okay" - and the loving expression in his eyes. Beautiful! You can tell he just wants to hold Ennis close, and Ennis is trying with everything he has to stay distant - does anyone else get the feeling he's afraid he'll just break down if he melts into Jack's arms at that moment? :\'(

Jack is just downright sexy... period. He's cute, handsome, tall, lanky, just right amount of wild and crazy goofiness, but serious just the way I like em. Truly the Jack of Hearts in any deck of men. He is the total package. He knows what he wants and relentlessly goes after it. His pursuit of Ennis is determined and constant. The way he carried himself even thru rejection over the years he maintained his hope, confidence , dignity. Played to perfection by Jake G.from head to toe, captured Ennis's heart and ours too, but like the song goes, "He don't know he's beautiful "and honestly, that's powerful sexy. My take on im.
Totally.
And I can also sense an equivalence here to the scene of Alma and Ennis getting married in that both sort of represent the extent of love in each world (life on the mountain with Jack, and life off of it with Alma) that Ennis was allocated. This isn't to over shadow the dozy embrace or any comparably intimate scene; it's to distinguish the nature of love from the pretense of society and of time and place. In other words, in my eyes Jack and Ennis married/complimented each other much more naturally.
In this scene, pre-binoculars, you do sense they were both engaged and that everything was flawless for a moment in time. And that was worth everything in comparison to the cheaper vow off the mountain.

I think just ALL OF THE LOVE SCENES were great, sexy and erotic. I'm only sorry they didin't make more love scenes! :d)

Jake was perfect in every way. I also like the "giggle" rolling down the hill as well as the motherly concern when things turned bad.
I get the feeling that Jack had on Ennis' fav cologne (& vice-versa) in the motel, but it all got mingled w/ sweat, etc. I also think the sense of smell is important.

Very important -- even if we don't actually smell anything in the movie. But the sense of smell in the movie is VERY important, especially in some of the scenes. And yes, it is VERY sexy.
Yeah! I could sense that but I didn't actually notice it!
Oh, gosh, you guys are too much - now I have something else to ponder - I'm imagining the scent in my mind! I find this so funny because with all AP's descriptions of scent in the SS, my mind didn't go there. Maybe because she described the scents, especially with Jack. Not having it spelled out, as it were, makes it more fun to imagine. I'm thinking cologne, or possibly anti-persperant, or the fantastic musky smell that comes from exertion and a little bit of hard work.
Wow. Now I for sure won't get any work done today. ::)
But I bet you notice it now. :)

Hard work... or passionate love-making.
Sex certainly has a scent. In fact, there is a co-mingling of scents that cling to clothes, skin, etc. One of the mods, dirtbiker, had shown us an article where a person's scent is a unique identifier...
In thinking about Jack and Ennis in the motel scene, I am glad that the director did not dwell on the sordid surroundings (as in the ss). Jack seeming to smell Ennis's hair is much more effective -- and sexy.
I agree. Less was more in all regards.
It is the forte of the more intimate scenes...
May I also add that Jack's eyes at the start of SNIT was more than enough to express what could not be said. Had he not said "I'm sorry" or "It's alright", ti would have been the same. His eyes pretty much say it all.
Yess!! And it's his beautiful eyes so vivid in every situation that makes my heart beat quicker. He express it all with his eyes, so loving, so wide open. His eyes were literally a mirror of his soul. Love you Jack Twist! <^( <^( <^(
Loreen, you brought up a great point that I've never considered before - Jack's eyes, "so wide open" as you put it - we can see that he is walking in to his relationship with Ennis with his eyes wide open - knowing that he loves a man, realizing that Ennis is the love of his life. Whereas Ennis (and I love Heath so don't get me wrong - I think he's beautiful) tends to have more narrowed eyes - as if he has a much harder time accepting the fact that it is a man he loves - kind of like what AP wrote about the dozy embrace. And as Ennis ages, his eyes become narrower - I notice them especially in the FC scene - as if he's physically and emotionally shutting himself off from his choices for happiness.
Another reason to be impressed with the genius of our boys, Ang and everyone involved in casting the movie!
Good point, Molly!
I like the way you are thinking! :ghug:
Can you please tell me what is FC?
I figured out SNIT and FNIT myself, but lots of you uses some abbreviations I can not understand - IMO, or SS....
Please, explain!

Hi,Loreen¡ IMO is In My Opinion, and S.S. is Short Story,or the Annie Proulx's story from which BBM was done.As regards to Jake/Jack's eyes, you're right; not only has he got a precious eyes, but he tells everything with his glances.I'm not saying that this is not Heath/Ennis case, but nis friend's expressiveness is really great¡.

I love the way Jack caresses Ennis on his face after Ennis tells that they cant live togtehr..When Jack recommend them to live togther he disclosed his dreams and Ennis was too scared to go ahead..Ennis knew how vulnerable he gets when he is around Jack and how the society is and that they could get killed and so he felt that it was better not live together..Jack must have felt so rejected but still he consoles Ennis and touches his face which meant "I understand and I love u" <^( <^(
Yes, and those little Jack's gestures shows how great his love and affection was. I love Jack for that! <^( <^( <^(same here..he is so warm yet passionate..i love that combination...I simply love the way he stares at Ennis..it can be a stare which has a smile when Jack tells Ennis that that is the most he spoke in 2 weeks or a stare at the Dozy Embrace scene after holding Jack Ennis goes to ride the horse and Jack looks behind and stares at Ennis while he is riding the horse..so sexy and cute for me...aww...love him <^( <^(
You agree? :t) :ghug:I completely agree with ya... ^f^ :)
I think it was the only way to save his pride in life.
:f)
I just watched the movie again ^*() - Jack was also hiding his eyes in the scene where Ennis was late after his horse was scared by a bear, and his head was hurt. Jack took his scarf of and tried to clean Ennis's wound. As Ennis moves away his head, Jack put his head down, frightened that his feelings are far to obvious. The 1st scene u mentioned of Jack putting his head down when Ennis was hurt is very evident..Even Ennis was getting conscious and took the cloth away from jack and tried cleaning his wound himself..The electricity was both ways and Ennis took the cloth away and jack put his head down...its so cute and innocent...
During the FC, he keeps his head as if his neck become shorter, but doesn't look down. He is bitter, disappointed, angry, nor trying to hide anything. The purest feeling he had was hurt so many times. He became bulletproof! Does he still have a patience for Ennis? Yes! But no patience for himself anymore.
And one other thing I've notice - Lureen sounded so disappointed and sad after Ennis told her that Jack's favorite place was the mountain where two of them had cowboyed together one summer. After spend so many years with jack, she knew so little about him, and was surely not satisfied for Jack's decision, to be scattered on some place she wasn't even a part of. She sounded a bit angry when she told Ennis to go to see Jack's parents. Surely wasn't easy neither for her or Alma!
And God knows it isn't for me either! :\'( :\'( :\'(

Well, another sexy scene just came to mind - it's kind of too bad because Jack isn't with Ennis in this one - but I think he's uber-hot when he hits on the rodeo clown. Something about his smile and sidelong glance - the eyes get me every time. I particularly noticed his eyes during the Lureen bar scene too. And the two of them dancing - DROOL :d)

I agree. That was really a sweet gesture. I think it also caught Ennis off guard. It certainly was an attemp to reach out and express a deep affection. Very cute and sexy.
Have you noticed that after Jack caresses Ennis's face, Ennis almost started to cry? He was obviously deeply moved, but still as hard as a rock. Never gave up his way of life. <^(

Oh Loreen, I noticed that too! My heart melts when that happens; I just want Jack (or me!) to wrap Ennis in a warm, comforting hug and rock back and forth gently. "Let the tears fall, Ennis. You're safe here with me."
Gosh, I just made myself cry :\'(
I so love the moment when Jack gently takes Ennis' hat & sets it aside in SNIT. The killer is when Ennis is exploring him & makes it clear for Jack to take the lead.

The killer is when Ennis is exploring him & makes it clear for Jack to take the lead.Very well sad..I also loved that..As u said Ennis just wanted Jack to lead and he himself just went with the flow..that was so very beautiful...I loved the way they felt one soul in 2 bodeis..a union of love...there was nothing was meaningful than that <^( <^(

Loreen...in SNIT, Ennis says "I'm sorry". Jack then says "it's allright" twice. I'm not sure if Jack says anything else. My FAV scene! <^( I wonder how much was ad lib.
After reading the thread about the "words spoken in SNIT", I watched it again (and again ;) ), and for the first time I heard Jack said "Come on...", inviting Ennis to come closer before their lips touched for the first time..... That part of the scene is so alluring and deep, that I feel like I'm sublimating in that tent, disappearing in their emotions, and live those feelings like they're my own. $) $) $)I have heard the "Sorry " and "its alright" but I have not yet heard the "Come on"..Actually I have watched the film online and the volume clarity will not be as good as the DVD...The DVD is not available where I live...The movie dint even get released here...so people r not aware about BBM..few people like me r aware due to the internet and have watched the film online...some have got the DVD from another country...I have not been to a country where it is available so I could not buy it yet...A Brokie is trying to help me out...Some day when I will watch the DVD, I am sure I will be able to figure that out better...But for now I hope when I watch it online I am able to hear it..
OMG, what have they ever done to me? How comes I feel them as my own flesh and blood? *^)

Whatever he might have said or didn't say in that scene, he absolutely melts you with that look!
One of them is the scene mentioned above where he showed a bit of nervousness, but strong determination to finish the old man's ascendancy, unjustly taken in Jack's own house. In that scene Lureen just showed that she looked upon her husband! Jack was fabulous! When he pointed 2 fingers at old man and said ^*)"Now you sit down you son....!" ^*) mm-mm.... great! Old man just set down without the word, and Jack stood up to cut the turkey! Yessss! He was so firm and masculine in that scene! <^( <^( <^(
Absolutely, Loreen! I love this scene. Of course having Jake in tight black jeans helped!!! :d) And I love the little squeeze on the shoulder that he gives Lureen as he passes behind her on his way back to the table. This tells me that even though he and Lureen don't have a love relationship in the traditional sense, at least he has caring and affection for her. Jack's big heart and all.
There's Jack's scene, not so romantic, but one of my favorite outside E&J relationship. Thats the scene in Jack's home during Thanksgiving day! When he FINALY got the courage to oppose and to stood up against Lureen's father, but also support his wife! Jake's act was great.I agree with u loreen about the scene with Jack..I loved the way Jack puts his father in law straight..He is very emotive and he made himself clear....I beg to differ on only one thing dear that I never found Jake’s acting shallow...Although I respect your opinion a lot..I loved the way u have expressed in all the posts and I know how strongly u feel for Ennis and Jack....It would be nice to know as to why u felt so about Jake…I can say that there were scenes where he looked a little submissive and blank but I think that it was needed…It was needed as he wanted to be strong for Ennis…he wanted to control of his emotions in front of Ennis. I think he was devastated when Ennis told him that they could not live together but he is so calm ..Oh God, there must be wirlpool of emotions within him that time…I love Jack so very much...
Maybe some will not agree, but there are a very few places in the movie where I found Jake's acting a bit shallow. Interesting thing's that the most difficult scenes he did beyond perfectly. One of them is the scene mentioned above where he showed a bit of nervousness, but strong determination to finish the old man's ascendancy, unjustly taken in Jack's own house. Oh, yes! He lived a life he surely didn't like, but perfectly fit anywhere. I can imagine how much effort it took to get along with everyone and every difficult situation, thinking only of those 2-3 weeks a year when he'll be able to embrace his only friend and lover! He was a strong and heroic character to endure for so many years, without complaint, without pressure, just love and lust! Priceless! %) Jack!U have explained Jack so very beautifullly ..Jack is my hero..He is very strong..He knew what he wanted and always went for it..He held onto Ennis because he was the true love of his life…Jack knew that he can never love anyone as much as he loves Ennis..Ennis meant the world to him ..When he is driving for 14 hours to meet Ennis the look on his face is so beautiful...imagine 14 hours he must be just thinking only about how he will spend time with Ennis…. so much excitement,. so much eagerness..so much thrill ....so much pure happiness...so much love….I love those expressions… <^(

Yes,it's funny Ennis face, and somehow important,as it's the first time that they speak about sin and sinners,as you say,but applying to themselves in a indirect way.I mean how Ennis "flirts" with Jack when he talks about his "opportunities",how Jack answers to this-that "huuummm"...-and how Ennis, not so innocent #) takes a look at the other's "opportunities" after saying that.Lovely ¡. <^(

Another scene come to my mind and I've always found it funny...
Evening before FNIT, E&J are drinking, and after singing so loudly, suddenly Jack says with so much importance that his Ma's in the "Pentecostal"... Ennis asks very politely- What is "Pentecostal". Well my folks was methodists.' And he looks at waiting Jack for the answer. But Jack seriously answers: Pentecostal?? I have NO IDEA WHAT PENTACOSTAL IS.... :8 :8 :8
That scene is hilarious to me, but Ennis stayed so serious like a boy waiting for his father's verdict about beating him or not.
Anyway the scene goes in the different direction, and for the first time they discussed about the "sin" and "sinners" ... $)
Yes, I do love that scene. There was spontaneous applause from the audience during the several viewings I had in 2005/2006. IT was cute, pathetic, sexy, and deep all at the same time.
I didn't find his acting shallow in any scene, but I would surely love to know where you thought it was. :)
I know that I am such a pain.... >:(, but as I said, during a very few moments in the FC scene, Jake/Jack seemed as he was waiting Heath/Ennis to finish his line, so he can speak up... And I ALWAYS get that immpression when I watch movie (The truth is... I watch it every day ^-^)
Anyway, it is only my impression and I can be completely wrong about those few moments during the whole scene (cca 7 min!)! %&)
What do you think about it? :*(

FC = Last Confrontation?
Are you referring to the scene when Ennis threatens Jack and spits on the ground?
Well Cleo,I watched the film the day before yesterday and I have cried and was so was over whelmed, sad and so dam emotional…
e.g. I found some parts of FC a bit shallow.... :gnight: :gnight: :gnight:
Very easy parts, and I am sure that no one pay attention to it... but in my mind when E&J confronted about Mexico, Jake wasn't so convincing to me.... he looked as he was thinking "ok, this is Heath's line, I'll wait for mine" ~) ~) ~).
There are many soooo much more difficult scenes than FC where he was (:) (:) (:) too good to be true! I really admire him for his talent. He was tremendous and I like his talent a lot. But FC... he could've done it better!. Heath was P E R F E C T there! <^(
You know that i <^( Jack, but I am a bit harsh to Jake... %&)
I watched the film the day before yesterday and I have cried and was so was over whelmed, sad and so dam emotional…
I think before the topic of Mexico comes up Ennis is telling Jack he will be meeting him in November and Jack gets upset and angry about that...Jack slams the door of the car so hard..he is so dam annoyed and he emotes that exceptionally well…Then the topic of Mexico comes up… When I think about that scene when Ennis and Jack confront about Mexico Jack is already angry...But he is quite for a while..he is thinking about the 20 years and about all the regret..I think his silence speaks a lot in that moment...I think that, that silence was more killing than anything that Jack said as that silence showed that Jack is so hurt and felt kept aside..Jake shows us the emotional turmoil of Jack at that moment...As MPJ says that he was looking for a reaction from Ennis..his silence denoted to his helplessness and all his regret as so much time went by and they could have had a life together but Ennis dint want that...He is so emotional as there r so many disappointments and that r breaking him down....After his moment of silence he finally has come to the edge of his pain and all anger oozes out and he tells Ennis that he did goto Mexico so dam bluntly that it tears Ennis apart and then u will notice for a second a close up look of Jack…..that look is brilliantly emoted by Jake…he does not know how to react. It is a quite and helpless look….I feel that a part of him feels bad as to Ennis knows and another part of him feels that as Ennis was not with him and that he reacted so in desperation and frustration.. :\'( :\'(
My hearts bleeds watching this scene...It is brilliant portrayal of the character by both of them…I think both of them do their parts so every well that I end up empathizing with both of them…. :\'( :\'(
There is no doubt that Heath is excellent..the way he pushed Jack in anger when he gets to know that he was in Mexico is brilliant…Jake on the other hand emotes as a lover who longs for his love so much that he uses other resources... I think they both had their reasons in for reacting in that way..
The scenes emoted by Jake when he tells Ennis that all that they have is BBM takes my breath away..we can see his misery…Jake shows us that Jack has reached the height of pain that he can take..apart from the way he speaks, the body language shows utter frustration...When Ennis breaks down we see the plight that love has given him..Love has made him what he is today…I don’t think anyone can do that better than Heath…Jake has done complete justice in making us feel so sorry for Jack who kept suffering separation from his love all his life…Even the scene when Ennis walks away and we see a broken heart of Jack reflected in his facial expression...
I absolutely loved both of them in the final confrontation…It is Jake and Heath forever as Ennis and Jack…They gave us Ennis and Jack for which we will always be grateful to them…I am dam overwhelmed writing this..Its piece of my heart... :\'( :\'(

I think my Mother rented the DVD a long time ago but that cant be possible since the movie was banned here... But she I didnt know about BBM back then and she never talked about it so I guess it was some other movie LOL :P And plus even in school everyone is very... well they disciminate ALOT.
It took me about 10 days to loose the feeling of sadness after watching BBM for the first time...
Please do talk about it here! :)
I have never mentioned this before ..It has been on my mind many times though...I love the 1st look that Ennis and Jack give each other..its a start of something so very beautiful ..After watching the movie so many times we all know what will happen next...so when they 1st look at each other we all know what it will lead to...I mean one of the most beautiful love stories ever..Now, even though there is alot of pain and suffeing ahead at that time when they lay first glancs at each other I rememeberr all the love that will follow and that makes me so happy and blushed <^(
I love the way Jack startes at Ennis showing so much interest and I love the way Ennis looks at Jack and IMO wants to look more but looks the other way..OMG..my heart melts seeing the electricity... <^( <^(

Those moments are so precious. It's just like -oh, yeah boys, just show of and look at each other, you are just about to see what will happen between two of you. <^(
Yes, it's sweet, the sweetest, because in the time line those are the most distant form a inevitable tragedy. :\'( :\'( :\'(
Mmmm I love what you say here, and I agree. Those glances are something, and really express something deeper. :):t) Loreen and Orangetruck ^f^

Oh Cleo, you hit home here. For lots of reasons that are very difficult to explain that's my favorite scene ever. I'm so in love with SNIT and the DE, but this scene means the whole world to me, makes me smile and cry at the same time...I just can't breathe when I see it. This is what I think about it:Thankyou so much Tammy ^f^
http://ennisjack.com/index.php?topic=1060.420
Also that's the scene where Jack is not only the cutest and sexiest, but also really stunning and unforgettable.
Sorry - I meant final confrontation -FC! Yess, LC... my abbreviations are a mess! :i
Thanks for the clarification! :^^) Well, I will not pursue this further, loreen. But I will say that -- about the hesitation you refer to -- I interpereted it differently, as part of Jake's way of showing that Jack was impatient and not listening -- we do this often, not listening to the other person and just wanting to say what we want to say when we are choked with rage during an argument.
Anyway, I am not an expert in acting, ...to be honest - don't know the first thing. So, if everyone else is telling me that Jake's pose has a different meaning, I'll accept.
Good explanation though! All of us sometimes act like that! ::)
:^^) to you too!
I also love the scene when Jack tries to clean Ennis wound with the cloth after he fell from the horse...I feel Jack reallly wanted to caress Ennis in that scene but then Ennis takes away the cloth from him and Jack looks the other way then...
That scene, along with his worry about Ennis's accident showed how feelings were already there. Jack, always open to them, and Ennis always closed, for he couldn't even stand Jack cleaning his wound. And what would be more natural than that? But Ennis at that point maybe already feels more... or he's just not used to someone's care... what do you think? :s)I think that they starting feeling for each other by that time..As u said Jack was worried for Ennis and he did want to caress him and take care of him…But Ennis felt conscious of Jack being so close and just took the clothe away from him...Ennis was already in a lot of physical pain and feeling Jack so close made him wary so he took the cloth away…Jack picked that up well and so dint take it further and changed the topic about the food…Its obvious that the feelings were there...

So, you think that Ennis was already kinda burning inside and aware of something... Yes, most probably! Anyway, as closed as he was he had no idea what was it, but he felt endangered. Lovely scene! ^f^u said this beautifully Loreen ^f^
Oh yes, this scene for me is the first look of love from Jack, and Ennis can sense something between them, a spark, tension, something intimate that he feels uncomfortable with, and pulls the cloth away. Jack's face then tears my heart out, and the whole scene is just so beautifully and subtlely played.
I also love the scene when Jack tries to clean Ennis wound with the cloth after he fell from the horse...I feel Jack reallly wanted to caress Ennis in that scene but then Ennis takes away the cloth from him and Jack looks the other way then...
I watched the DVD last night! So I have yet another cute Jack scene:
When he hollers at Ennis to come into the tent, just after Ennis lies down and is getting comfortable, Jack raises his head just a tiny bit and looks over to make sure his darling is there for sure. What a lovely scene! <^(
Molly, he raises his head not only to make sure that Ennis is there, but to locate Ennis's hand.... ;D
Yes, lovely scene indeed which leads us into FNIT which is mmmmmmm.... :P
:^^)
There's another scene (yeah, yeah it's E&J together, so what? ::) ) I like a lot. Makes me sad but also moved at the same time... well all their mutual scenes do!
The day they were supposed to leave the Brokeback mountain - wrestling! Ennis was sitting on the rock, out of himself, but not because of August payment he'd never get from Aguirre. He knew it was over. Did nothing, just lost all his power and waited for Jack to finish the job. He just couldn't! And Jack, little cuty, after finish all the chores, wanted to cheer him up and took a rope to pull him on the floor.
Then something interesting happens: Ennis is enjoying wrestling with Jack as so many times before, but suddenly becomes aggressive and angry. Wrestling is not a lovely game anymore, it's a fight against his own feelings. He really really wants to beat up Jack, thinking that in that way he'll manage to beat up his own love. Suddenly he's the one who got beaten and he's awaking from the dream, but that sexy temptation is coming back again, hugs him and tells him so lovely words. Now, that's to much for him, he just has to defend and he punches Jack so hard that he falls down in pain feeling surprised and sad.
The scene's great! It shows an innocent wrestling between them which ends in boyish punching. Nothing special! But the meaning of the scene is deep and it depicts all the troubles of the situation they're, their awareness that the most beautiful part of their life's brutally interupted, and they would have to split now.
We see Jack so vulnerable, but as always open to any possibility, and Ennis pursuing his former decision to go home and marry Alma! Both of them (Ennis more than Jack) completely unaware of hell they'd be going through without eachother!
As I said - half sweet, half sour! And always make my tears run as crazy! :\'( :\'( :\'(

Well, he located it and quickly moved it to a another location. Yum indeed. I was both shocked and pleasantly surprised at such a bold and very sexy move. Wow, He just went for it.
How about the scene where Jack lassos Ennis's feet. It was a cute playful gesture by Jack, and his laughing was infectous. Ennis steps right in the rope, trips, and it turns into a tug of war between them with the rope. I think Jack was communicating something huh? . Alot of symbolism at that moment.
I wonder what Jack's thoughts were when he took the rope off the horse. That was a moment when he just stared at Ennis sitting all alone on the hill.. those eyes...gawd!! Very sexy.
I love the way Jack immedietly takes off his hankerchief when Ennis comes back injured and tries to treat the wound on Ennis's head <^( His reaction was so quick- Just like as if it was his own brother/dad/ or loved one <^( <^(
And 2 details I love in that scene:
1. How he gingerly dips the handkerchief in the hot water.
2. How tenderly he initially applies the compress to Ennis's forehead -- so tenderly that Ennis must have felt a bit uncomfortable -- hence, his grabbing it away from Jack...
Very cute.
I love how Jack says "well I won't" in response to Ennis' "I'll stick with beans" and he has that stubborn look on his face. I half expect him to say "so there!" and cross his arms over his chest like a little kid! ;D
Anyway, as closed as he was he had no idea what was it, but he felt endangered. Lovely scene! ^f^
Yes, I felt that Jack wanted to do more in that scene -- you see it clearly when Ennis grabs the neckerchief from him, correct?of course..He wanted to help him clean the wound and to caress him...but Ennis got conscious with that..I think the spark had already started and Ennis wanted to shut it so he took the cloth away and Jack being so understanding just let it go and looked the other way..he dint want to force himself in any way onto Ennis even if it was just cleaning his wounds as he wanted to make him comfortable as he understood Ennis's reserved nature....

Exactly. I think Jack's gesture was as much a caress as it was an act of wiping the blood and grime from Ennis's face. I do think that Ennis found the gesture a bit too "caressing". shall we say, and perhaps was most uncomfortable (hot and bothered?) about it? :)I agree that Ennis did find that gesure a bit too "caressing" and it made him conscious...so he immediately grabbed the cloth away from Jack...I wonder what must be going on in Jack's mind at that time...I feel that he was thinking of being there for Ennis...that is the most important...He dint want to come too strong on Ennis and so just looked the other way when Ennis grabbed the cloth as he just wanted to Ennis to settle down and feel at ease...
I think that we should consider that Jack was also a human (of course he was!), not so sure of himself. Open, affectionate, loving, caring... but still with his own insecurities caused by not so lovely childhood, probably some previous disappointments and rejections and who know what more... So I believe that at the beginning, before Ennis gave himself up, Jack's reactions were more kind of listening of Ennis's pulse, than a real understanding. When they became lovers, they surely became closer and Jack always showed a great deal of understanding for his friend and lover.I agree with ya...I loved the way Jack handled the situation when Ennis was wounded and we see that he was very sensitive of Ennis's feelings...
Even later, when they separated Jack wasn't sure of himself enough to say something more that "I might be back!"... (and gave the sad look that's a real killer, but that's another story...)
^f^
I agree with ya...I loved the way Jack handled the situation when Ennis was wounded and we see that he was very sensitive of Ennis's feelings...
I love Jack too much <^(
Jack is a seducer, he is magnetically charming, and that effect the viewers too. He flirts with Ennis, but has a power to transmit that to us all and we feel like we're inside of the movie. <^(Hmmmm...Jack is definietly the one who steals my heart with his charm and sex appeal...
Sure, the little devil is adorable! Why do you think that Ennis gave up so easily? ;)
Another scene I find very charming, not so much as a scene, but more it's deeper meaning.
It's after FNIT, when Jack is washing his clothes. He is cold ( and we know that he hates cold), but wants to be clean when Ennis comes back. Oh, how lovely that intention is!
Watching him there I felt frozen myself, thinking - how on Earth he's going to dry that clothes, what will he wear ( #) ) until's dried... but as much as the scene itself was unpleasant, and the background music was disturbing reflecting his inner insecurity, inside my heart I felt warmth.
His way of showing love, of wanting Ennis to accept him, his firm attention to take their relationship to a higher level even if freezing in the water, that was so touching... oh, God! I LOOVED it! (t) (t) (t)

Yes, it wasn't just Ennis who was putting an check on himself in this scene. Jack certainly was careful to let Ennis clean up himself, because he probably sensed what Ennis sensed. Love and desire can't be hidden, even in the most simple of affectionate gestures. :)I agree Thomas...I think Jack dint wana make Ennis more conscious than he already was...Ennis already was in so much physical pain at that time that it was best to let Ennis make himself comfortable...Jack was around and that meant a lot...
Another cute look of Jack was just before SNIT...He was in the tent and was thinking about Ennis..He let Ennis be to himself..He knew Ennis was feeling the same but also was scarerd that Ennis would not address it...Jack was thinking about all the possiblities but giving Ennis all the space..I mean he loved him so very much and that shows......He was patiently lying down in the tent thinking about Ennis....that look is so dam chaming..I so love Jack <^( <^(
Jack was waiting for Ennis and Ennis could hardly stand not to run and jump into the tent... O0hmmmmmm......Loreen, u have said it so very well... ^f^
As this scene was directly continued from their brief conversation on the hill, we, as a viewers could only imagine their speechless supper that evening charged with mixture of sensual expectations and the fear of it... That is a scene I would've definitely looooved to see. :P
What we see is only the last part - Jack in the tent - more than ready! Ennis outside- more than willing! Mmmmmm <^( <^( <^(
You know what is also lovely in their intimate scenes - it's how they look at each other (especially Jack), with touching or a little spaced foreheads, holding/caressing each other head...I have also noticed Ennis looking down especially when he tells Jack sorry...Jack keeps looking at him though and teling him “its alright”..
The most passionate moments were in the FNIT before the sex act, the most emotional moments was after the Ennis's kiss in the reunion scene, and in the SNIT was just the split of the sec in the very end of the scene, when Jack stops kissing Ennis and just lean his forehead on him (mouth open...).
In these scenes Ennis sometimes looks down, but Jack keep his eyes firmly on Ennis. I've seen this kind of scenes in other movies too, but never so much emphatic, with so many energy and relay of emotions to each other. Who ever thought of it is a genius! I looove that.
I have a feeling as they're making love with their eyes. <^( (t) (t) (t)
PS: :s) Hm...After someone gives you that kind of look, does he really have to say "I love you" at all??
Isn't it clear like a mountain water? $)
I have also noticed Ennis looking down especially when he tells Jack sorry...Jack keeps looking at him though and teling him “its alright”..
Awwwww....my heart melts seeing the love that Jack wants to shower over Ennis..It so beautiful..
Well, throughout their lives in many different ways that have conveyed “I love you”. It was never through words but through gestures and actions…
In the FNIT, Jack showed with passion that he wanted Ennis and Ennis too reciprocated to that…Then in SNIT it was so tender and affectionate...The eye movements and warmth showed the love…Jack wanted Ennis to know that he is all for him…Ennis on the other hand showed Jack that he there is no place he actually wanted to be but with him…So much was said without words. <^(
Your posts just makes me wanna go see it again right now!
I love the music in this scene how it follows as their movements build then ending with that familiar guitar notethat's so theirs. The fire burning between them creating this sexy , romantic, glow in the tent and on their faces. , Jack's insistent desire to kiss Ennis. ..finally! The string of spit between them as they finished the kiss. (t) Gawd , It don't get no better than that. Perfect.! <^( <^(
I think it's their vulnerability to as you say "forbidden" desire. The giving up to it. , To lay themselves so open after so much rejection in their lives. They discovered love and acceptance in one person. unending love in it's purest form. That's sexy.
I agree Thomas...I think Jack dint wana make Ennis more conscious than he already was...Ennis already was in so much physical pain at that time that it was best to let Ennis make himself comfortable...Jack was around and that meant a lot...
Cleo, ^f^There is a lot of split opinions on this...Although what is important is what they felt and the way they expressed it at the SNIT through their gestures, warmth and love...
I think that Ennis didn't say "sorry" at all. It's Jack saying 3 times "it's all right". Well, Ennis doesn't strike me as a person who would apologize at that moment. He was puzzeled enough with his own feelings and his wish to make love with Jack. Besides that, nothing to apologize. His lips don't move, and the voice is Jack's as well as the rhythm of words "it's all right". Well, at least I think so..
And the most alluring moment for me is when Jack said "come on..." holding Ennis's head and aproaching to his lips... (t) (t) (t)

I have personally for sure heard "sorry"…Ennis hardly opened his mouth while saying it and it was too faint…But everytime I watched the SNIT I have heard “Sorry”…
Even a video on youtube showing SNIT did show “sorry” and “its alright” as subtitles.
A topic was started to get feedback.

What I understood was that he did say sorry for not saying a word in the morning before leaving ..I know Ennis needed time to accept what was happening but imagine the plight and insecurities on Jack that whole long day and then Ennis said “ I aint queer”…I know it dint matter at SNIT because all that really mattered is their expression of love and the fact that they wanted to be together but IMO Ennis felt bad for how he was in the morning… I feel that’s what the sorry was for…IMO ^f^
Ennis was certainly in pain, but I suspect that he couldn't hide the fact that he found Jack's touch comforting. THta's what made him conscious, I suppose -- that he couldn't hide the feeling of being comforted.Well Jack's touch was enough to comfort him even if it was just wiping his wounds...We see the way he just snatched the cloth away and cleans it..For Ennis even Jack' closeness guarded him....What was so heartwarming was that Jack sensed that so very well and gave him his space....Now that is the Jack I adore and love...One of the instances <^(
Hm.. I tried a lot of times to hear it, but didn't! I hear Jack's voice and it makes sense to me... :s)That is exactly what I am saying Loreen..Thankyou dear ^f^
Anyway that can not change the beauty of SNIT. <^(

Yes, that was very cute and heartwarming. If there is something we can tell about Jack early on, he knew when to withdraw and give Ennis the space he needed. Later in life, perhaps this became a handicap, in the sense that perhaps he should have pushed Ennis a bit more...
Yes,I also think that this was adorable on Jack's part on the early stages of their relationship, when Ennis needed more time and space of his own to "digest" what was happenning with him. But,later on,when everything had been said and lived,a little more of putting Ennis against the ropes could have been a push for this last.If not to let things change completely,at least to not only let the months passing without any change at all.I don't know if this makes sense...

Dear MPJ ^f^,
Unfortunately, the most important things were never said. The things that maybe (just maybe) could've concored all the obstacles between them -first of all - Ennis's fears. I want to believe that if the word "love" would've been said between them, it would disperse all the bad energy and they could've focused on the good things and their mutual wish to enjoy the life with the blessing that only real love can give.
I sometimes wonder what could have been had Jack (or Ennis, if possible) said "I love you." On the surface, that would have been so sexy, and perhaps it would have had the power to transform the relationship and propel it onward.
But I feel that at certain scenes, Jack essentially said this without uttering a word (you know the scenes. :)) And those scenes were some of his cutest/sexiest...
Oh, Tpe, "sexy" is understated for how would it feel! (^)
At first I wasn't sure, but now I can accept that words said in proper manner, from one's heart can change so many things for better (or for worse- it depends on the words!) That simple: "I love you" should have been said not occasionally but with a firm wish to fight for the love that's expressed. In that way I have a faith that their love will win.
Yes, Jack said it so many times in way that can touch the heart of stone... but it didn't reach Ennis's heart... Only the way Jack was looking at Ennis, with passion, eyes glued on his face... only that should've been enough.
But it wasn't! Ennis's wall was too high even for so enormous Jack's love.
Pity! %&) $)
Love the way you say it!
I think it did reach Ennis's heart, but something kept it from thawing.
Are you familiar with the fairytale "The Snow Queen" and the boy who's heart had a splinter of the Magician's evil mirror? This image comes to my mind...
Yes, that was very cute and heartwarming. If there is something we can tell about Jack early on, he knew when to withdraw and give Ennis the space he needed. Later in life, perhaps this became a handicap, in the sense that perhaps he should have pushed Ennis a bit more...I think this is very true..In the initial phases it was needed but then later on Jack was too tolerent...For e.g after the divorce when Jack came to meet Ennis and Ennis told him that he cant spend time with him, Jack just remained quite and was hurt but went away,,.Perhaps he did so with the fear of not losing Ennis and so he just bottled it up..
Thanks! :^^)Loreen I agree that the 3 worlds would have made alot of difference...They have conveyed through their actions that they love each other ...So many gestures and caresses and expressions between them showed that...but again atleast once saying it would have make things a bit easier..
Sure, I know that fairytale, and the comparison is quite appropriate.
But someone replied to one of my posts very recently that Jack was homophobic too, and there was no way that Ennis and Jack would ever got to the point of living together...
I surely don't agree that anything would've stop Jack from making his dream come true... except the dream (Ennis) itself. (if you can understand my point). I mention this post because you and me are talking about 3 simple words here to remove the "splinter of mirror" in Ennis's eye, and this member is talking about a situation that has no possible mean of resolving it! :s)
I can agree that the situation really remained unresolved and lead to the tragedy, but I like to believe that E&J weren't THAT FAR from "sweet life"! $)

What did u find Jack homophobic ???
Cleo! ^f^Oh sorry Loreen..I misunderstood..
It's not me who find Jack homophobic, it is another member who replied to my post. In my opinion Jack was too ocupied searching for lovefrom Ennisthat he didn't mind so much about homophobia, even he was aware that Ennis's homophobia was the main reason for his decision not to live with Jack. At least it's the way I see it... :s)
Oh sorry Loreen..I misunderstood..
I think Jack would have risked it all for Ennis...Nothing mattered but his sweet life with Ennis but he knew how much Homophobia ruled on Ennis mind and he just could not convince Ennis to cope with that...Its such a pity
Cleo! ^f^Thank you dear :ghug:
I also think so!
Thanks! :^^)

Interesting. Although I think that bnoth of them were brought up to be homophobic, I thought that Jack went further in accepting who he was. I don't think one can be so certain as to label Jack homophobic later on -- especially after Mexico.
In any case, I find Jack sexiest when he shows that he definitely knew what he wanted. So -- ironically -- I find him sexy in that awful Juarez, Mexico scene. There was something disturbingly appealing in his determination to get what he wanted. I hope you don't find this rather strange...
;D I never noticed that in the "Mexico scene", When I watched it I had a really awkward feeling as if that Jack wasnt really who he was there... :s)

Look at his eyes the next time you watch this scene. There is a cold, steely resolve that is really quite fascinating...
tpe ^f^ !
After joining the forum on a "gay movie" (and I say this only to make it sound bad, not because I see it that way!) I don't find anything strange any more! If you understand me! :)
I also don't see Jack homophobic, because he put his wishes and love before anything else. That's not homophobic. That's attractive and above all brave! On the other hand Ennis was a school book example of "homophobic".
Jack being sexy is normal thing in any scene -he was just meant to be that way. :P
The moment when he was disappointed and in desperate need ofsexuallove, made me very sad for him, but when you put it that way (saying that "There was something disturbingly appealing...") I can see it myself too. Who wouldn't want to give him what he was looking for at that sad moment!? ;)
Wow! I just rewatched the short Mexico scene and I did notice that Jack seemed cold and I could see what he was feeling in his eyes... He was somewhat happy that he found what he was looking for but there wasnt any love in his eyes like there was when he was with Ennis <^( He probably felt really bad about it but was also really mad at Ennis for desterting him again after all that time...
Good observation tpe! :)
Thomas...When I see Jack's eyes in Mexico, I see more of a defeat like "let's just get this over with"; I don't see any happiness or satisfaction. I'll pay extra attention to this next time.
Thanks BlueMountain. Yes, compare his eyes in this scene with (for example) the scene where he touches Ennis's face up in the mountains during the Reunion trip. The contrast cannot be any more powerful...
:t) Thomas...I understand now what you meant.
After watching BBM again (20-30 times?? -or 40??) I have noticed two so obvious things for the first time. %&)Wow...I loved this post loreen..
First, when Jack said to Ennis "This is more words than you've spoken in 2 weeks." His look after these words is so full of Love... I never before noticed Love, but last time it was so clear, that I ask myself - how deep is this movie that we have to remove the layers one by one ... and always find something new. Very lovely scene. Jack is ... uh... too cute to be true... <^( <^( <^(
Another scene is after wrestling and accidental hit in Ennis nose - I knew how concerned Jack was when he comes and hug Ennis, but last time I sensed it much more. I could feel his love there as if it's my own emotion. Again - so deep movie, that each time I feel differently even I know each scene by heart.
Also, when "good angel" fell on the floor, I think how his shirt maybe sop the scents of mountain sage, and 20 years later still smells good. I know that it's not, but somehow I hope... for Ennis.
Uh! :\'(
Wow...I loved this post loreen..
Well I rememeber that the 1st cutest scene I think I mentioned was when Jack smiles at Ennis and Ennis is like "What" and Jack says "This is more words than you've spoken in 2 weeks". I find him very sexy that time and so does Ennis <^( <^( <^(
I see alot of love in his eyes for Ennis and the way he stares at him before he starts dancing blows me away (t) (t) (t)
I think the shirt more than anything else smells of the intimacy shared by them in the fight and the love that Jack has always poured upon Ennis

I also thought that Ennis's look was so meaningful. One could think of this exchange as love offered and love returned.
It's sad that after 20 years, the shirst have lost the scent of the Mountain. But perhaps imagining it was sufficient for Ennis.
In fact. I was reffering to Jack's look, in which for the first time I recognized a pure Love. But sure, you're right - Ennis was also melting in the embracement of their friendship and I believe that his look was very significant. His shy giving in was obvious. <^(
I know, but I also noted that Ennis's look was also very meaningful. Beccause it was a clear "reply" to Jack's look. The awkward moment of silence between the two fo them after this tells us everything.
Oh yes! Moment of silence after Ennis' confession -Jack looks down and Ennis continues to talk something just to break the silence! Very indicative! :)
I know, but I also noted that Ennis's look was also very meaningful. Beccause it was a clear "reply" to Jack's look. The awkward moment of silence between the two fo them after this tells us everything. Both glances are meaningful and revelled that something very strong was growing inside them.I agree in that this silence that follows these glances speaks volumes about this "something".And I also agree in that Jack's clowning was a kind of relief for the sexual tension that was clearly between them. The perfect prologue for FNIT.
They needed the bit of clowning that Jack did immediately after -- to break the tension and the intense feeling that sort of strangled them after this.
I think it was also meant to break the audience's tension, as much as theirs. :)
;D Well, audience was not near so strained, as they were! :i
There's another little thing I've noticed... maybe someone already spoke about it, but it crossed my mind just recently:
Jack always spoke Ennis' name and it sounded so sexy and lovable! This particulary at the beginning! <^(
What in the hell happened, Ennis?
Ennis, quit hammering and get in here! ::)
Ennis, Ennis, you're alright, come on, come on!
And I can not remember even one situation when Ennis said Jack's name in that way (he only said Jack fu*king Twist!)... and that is also one way to express your feelings , to speak up your dear's name! Ennis couldn't even say "Jack"t the beginning, and we expect him to say "I love you, Jack Twist?!" No chance!
:(
Yes! Especially in the quote "Ennis, quit hammering and get in here!" -- Jack says Ennis's name in such a wonderfully sexy way. And the way we see him smile at the end of that scene (right before the actual FNIT scene) -- it is as if he is telling himself: I have him now! -- where I want him!
He was cute and sexy there indeed! :d) I mean - Jack in the tent! Not even Ennis could resist. #)
Anyway, I was reffering to all of Jack's way with Ennis - he pronounces his name in so dear way. It is more that obvious what Jack feels. ::)
When he said: What in the hell happened (Ennis)? (after mule was scared by a bear) This question could have absoultely been raised without pronouncing the name, but in that one word - "Ennis" was compressed all his love for his friend. Saying Ennis' name was very significante IMO. And cute.... and sexy... <^(
And except before reunion kiss, I can't remember even one time when Ennis let himself pronounce Jack's name. That is also significante!
I agree. But especially in his calling out Ennis's name right before FNIT -- there was a palpable sense of urgency and edge to it. One can interpret it too be sleepiness. But one can also sense the bright sharp edge of passion/hunger peeking out.
I think that Thomas meant that Jack's hunger was heard when he spoke out..."Ennis, Quit yer hammerin' an get on in here". FINALLY, Ennis was gonna be right where Jack wanted him. ;)
I feel like Ennis' "endearing" name for Jack was always Jack f***ing Twist. :c)I love that...
I feel like Ennis' "endearing" name for Jack was always Jack f***ing Twist. :c)
Sure it was hunger for Ennis. Each situation had it's own edge and hunger in it. The night before FNIT it was sexual hunger, after the bear it was love and care, and after punching Ennis in nose was a compassion and tenderness. But always spoken through the name of the man he loved - Ennis! And all three situations are very very cute and sexy just because Jack's warm reaction.
I think that Thomas meant that Jack's hunger was heard when he spoke out..."Ennis, Quit yer hammerin' an get on in here". FINALLY, Ennis was gonna be right where Jack wanted him. ;)
You naughty Atalley! ::)
I understood what tpe meant, sure. Its just that I wanted to point out that Jack always spoke out loud Ennis' name in such a loving (or sex hungry >:D ) manner. Ennis never reciprocated. He spoke out Jack's name only before reunion kiss and during FC. Even when Jack drove 14 hours after Ennis' divorce, he said : "Hey, what are you doing here?" There's no "Jack! What are you..."
The way Jack always calls Ennis makes him so sexy! :d) <^(
Let's get back to FNIT! ::)
Jack was too sexy there from the moment he smiled when he got Ennis in the tent, through his attempt to warm Ennis' hand :P, to the undressing and unbuckling himself in a split second.
But here I want to point out something more naughty - that is those 10 sec when he was waiting and moaning on all four waiting for Ennis..... and the way he thud with his hand on the floor... It was sexy, or even more than sexy! :d)
(t) (t) (t)
Shame on me! :-X
I really thought that THAT smile was really a killer. :) And yes, the aural evidence of pleasure together with the pounding of the fist are telling. But I think his unbuckling his belt is perhaps the sexiest detail in that scene. It was almost a let-down to see Ennis put and end to it by abruptly flipping Jack over.
At the beginnig I also thought that the unbuckling was (t) in the whole scene. But each time I watch the movie something new comes up (and I don't think only in FNIT, but the whole movie). Lately, I just pay attention to this few moments when Jack is waiting ... and the rest...
What did you exactly mean by the last sentence? Like it was a disappointing or ...
Ennis put a stop to it all too soon. >:D
#)
Oh I see - you wanted to say that Ennis put an end to it....
Yes, the real excitement was mostly prior to the sex act, and we would have surely liked to see a little more of it. And Jack was all sexy from the beginning to the end. Even his relaxed and content face in the morning after FNIT was sexy! ::) (and Ennis woke up with a headache ;D )
So sexy sexy Jack in FNIT! :d) (t)
The act of unbuckling was perhaps the sexiest part of FNIT, IMO... ;)
The act of unbuckling was perhaps the sexiest part of FNIT, IMO... ;)I completely agree with this..It is a start of something that Ennis never thought that he would express so...It opens doors to something beautiful... <^(
I can understand that. There is a lot of excitement in those few seconds, when Jack made clear that he's willing to surrender completely and opened all the possibilities, which Ennis closed too quickly ... I mean, we could've enjoyed a little more along with them ... (t) (t) (t)I loved the way u have explained this scene <^(
I completely agree with this..It is a start of something that Ennis never thought that he would express so...It opens doors to something beautiful... <^(
And I love how you put Ennis in this situation! <^( <^( <^(Thankyou Loreen ^f^
Thankyou Loreen ^f^
I truely believe that because Ennis was himself, it allowed Jack to show Ennis that he was all for him and Ennis took charge of his feelings for the moment...I think this burning passion was something that led to their relation blossom at the next level the next night <^( <^( <^(
I agree with ya..
When two people develop some (romantic) feelings, it is always awkward situation when it comes to to expressing these feelings. In their case was much more difficult, cos obvious reasons. But Jack's daring and Ennis' need for tenderness and love had concur the awkwardness and they made the first brave step in FNIT. Expectantly, their mutual feelings were strong enough to lead them further the very next day.
In fact, we can imagine how strong and deep their feeling were, when they started the romance which was condemned in advance by the society. Such a pity that they didn't know on time that what they really had was love! One of a kind! <^(
I agree with ya..
In that times it was horrible and very brutal..Imagine even today it is a taboo in so many places including where I live..So in that time it was something that could not even be spoken about...But there was Jack who dared to open doors to it..He knew what he wanted and he got intuitive and showed Ennis the way that Ennis never thought existed or perhaps dint want to believe that it existed..
In FNIT, Ennis became himself and expressed what he truely felt...It was awkward but meant to be and felt right..Obviously the entire next day was like an open book and Ennis hjoust wante to run away from himself...
One more scene, I love the way in SNIT Ennis comes to the tent and Jack is thinking about him..I love that look...The moment he sees Ennis coming in the tent, I simply keep thinking about the height of happiness Jack must have experinced and that look of his simply shows happiness and tenderness to show Ennis that "Its Alright" <^( <^( <^(
I am SNIT obsessed person, youAwww...me too ..The SNIT and Reuinon scene r my favorite...That look of Jack seeing Ennis come in the tent is priceless..It was an affirmation on the part of Ennis to acknowledge his feelings and an acceptance on the part of Jack of those feelings which led to love that broke all bounds...The sex appeal of Jack is limitless and every move of his was inviting Ennis to feel comforted and for Ennis to know that he is all for him.. <^( <^( <^( <^(allknow that, and each little piece of that most beautiful love scene for me is exquisite. The connection with FNIT is maybe best expressed in Jack's understanding (and sexxxyyy) eyes just when Ennis entered tent, and putting his hand on Ennis'. Like he wants to comfort him and insure him to stay, to give in.... OMG, this scene is unbearably sexy! <^( :d)

I've said it once and I'll repeat - there's no love scene like SNIT, and no kiss like the reunion kiss! It just can't get any sexier! (t)I remember u saying this Loreen...I rememeber when I first saw it, it just made me hear my heart beat..The way Ennis lets himself be free with Jack and the way Jack takes care of him is something so beautiful, warm and deep...It was so real and meant to be..
The exchange of "messages" between Ennis and Jack in SNIT is so natural, but at the same time unexpected. Especially for the first time of watching it! Each other step made me tremble more and more... (t)

Yes,there're very few words, but the "messages"-as you say-they send to each other with their glances, their gestures, their hands, are the best and clearest conversation they could have...Unforgettable Jack's glance ¡ <^(

Well, I am sure the act of unbuckling by Jack pushed Ennis over the edge. He too must have found it very sexy. :)
The gestures/glances were more effective/compelling than words...
Well, I am sure the act of unbuckling by Jack pushed Ennis over the edge. He too must have found it very sexy. :)there is no doubt about it..We looking at the screen found it so sexy so imagine Jack holding Ennis and unbuckling ..OMG (t) (t) (t) (t)
there is no doubt about it..We looking at the screen found it so sexy so imagine Jack holding Ennis and unbuckling ..OMG (t) (t) (t) (t)
Well, sometimes it takes both. I already said this (maybe 100 times :) ), but for me - Jack's "come on" right before their first kiss was (t) (t) (t) . Those little words there were so compelling that each time I watch SNIT I put my earphone to the max in the order to hear them: "Come on..." and I am transferred into that tent <^( :d) :d)
(t) (t) (t)
there is no doubt about it..We looking at the screen found it so sexy so imagine Jack holding Ennis and unbuckling ..OMG (t) (t) (t) (t)
And the timing also makes a big difference. The economy of words doesn't mean we shouldn't use them; rather, economy means we use them carefully, and to maximum effect.
That little "come on" would have no meaning if said in any other time during SNIT, but the timing was perfect. Just before the first kiss.
Of course - my favorite "it's alright" also. Just in the moment when Ennis was in the crucial moment of decision to surrender completely, Jack tenderly encouraged him to do so... (t)
;D Funny Cleo!Ennis is so lucky to have Jack.....Jack takes our breath away with his eyes, smile and basically everything about him.. (t) (t)
Yes! That's how we all feel! And Ennis.... well he felt it 100 times more.... :d) :d) :d)
Had Jack had the opportunity, he probably would have started unbuckling Ennis after he had finished with himself. But Ennis was too quick for him...
Ennis reacted so passionaltey that Jack just had to show him the way and he was all over Jack after that... (t)
Ennis is so lucky to have Jack.....Jack takes our breath away with his eyes, smile and basically everything about him.. (t) (t)
Ennis had Jack so much in love with him and holding him..So the impact of Jack's presence so near to him and someone as adorable and passionate like Jack completely in love with Ennis..How could Ennis resist that...
Ennis reacted so passionaltey that Jack just had to show him the way and he was all over Jack after that... (t)
Jack simply needed to acquiesce. That in and of itself was important. Anything else would have probably ruffled Ennis...
Jack's acquiescing wasn't unpleasant or reluctant. He took what he could get at that moment, and seemed pretty relaxed and content sleeping next morning... ::)
Jack's acquiescing wasn't unpleasant or reluctant. He took what he could get at that moment, and seemed pretty relaxed and content sleeping next morning... ::)
Yes, he was only too happy to acquiesce. And can we blame him? :)
And incidentally -- that contented look on Jack's face the morning after: so cute and sexy! :)
I believe that Jack was also lucky to have Ennis near him. <^(I agree that Jack is also very lucky to have Ennis..Perhaps I said Jack's name and that Ennis is lucky to have him as I am crazy after Jack...I find him irrestible and drool over him.. (t) (t) (t)
Jack can take our breath away, but it was only Ennis who could took his!
One of the reasons why we find Jack so irresistible - cos he is full of love for Ennis, and he is showing that openly and freely. He is a person who could give and show love in every way. <^(
I agree that Jack is also very lucky to have Ennis..Perhaps I said Jack's name and that Ennis is lucky to have him as I am crazy after Jack...I find him irrestible and drool over him.. (t) (t) (t)
Yes, as u said Jack is very lucky to have Ennis as he loved him so much and needed him and when Ennis reciprocated it, Jack's happiness had no boundaires...
Same here babe, same here! (t) (t) (t)Awwwww...thats so true..
:d)
And when I see him happy and in intimacy with Ennis, that is the ultimate drooling.... :d)
(t) (t) (t)
No, we can't! :P
Yap! Sleeping in the tent - that was ^-^!
But when he went out, Ennis' cold look stroked him and he looked a bit distant in mind. Mmmm... lovely and sexy Jack! (t) (t) (t)
To me, Jack looked a bit worried and unsure when he came out of the tent. It was such a big contrast to his look of contentment while asleep.Same to me.Maybe because all the happinness he felt while sleepng-and surely dreaming about his love...-when he was in "another world",turned into insecurity when he "fell" on the reality's ground;that maybe Ennis wasn't going to accept the situation so easily...

Even not easily, but he accepted it! <^( <^( <^(
I wonder, how things would go after FNIT if Jack didn't show so openly (taking the shirt off and waiting with a slightly opened tent....) that he wants the continuation of their physical love...
For Jack at that moment, it was a reality check -- the transition between the dream world and the mundane. I guess he must have thought that Ennis was simply too drunk the previous night, and that once sober, he would be whistling a different tune...
Ennis may have simply avoided the issue and pretended that he didn't remember what happened that night -- using his being drunk as a convenient excuse.
The scene with Ennis and jack by the mountainside -- the look on Jack's face: so tense, but so very sexy. Don't you think?
I believe that Jack wasa bitdrunk himself too during FNIT, so the next morning he wasn't only questioning Ennis' reality, but in a way his own too.
Hm... doesn't sound like Ennis. He couldn't hide it, cos that hit him too strong. Also, if man can do what he did in FNIT >:D, I don't think that he can be that drunk that tomorrow can't even remember anything. Jack would know that he pretends.
What do you think that would happen if Jack wasn't that open and showed explicitly that he wants/needs the sexual relationship between them. Would Ennis just keep going as if nothing had happened or he would take some steps... cos in my mind he needed Jack the same as Jack needed him.
Finally, can you possibly tell me any scene that Jack is not toooooo sexy in! <^( NO! YOU CAN'T!! Neither can I! ;D ;D
I felt that in reality, Jack was less drunk than he made it appear to be. I personaaly thought that he had definite plans to seduce Ennis that night, and knew that he couldn't pull off such a thing if he had been drunk. So, I suspect that he pretended to drink a lot, whereas Ennis probably drank the bulk of it all...
And yes, Ennis was perhaps too "simple" to have pretended...
I think there is a thread discussing the question you arise here. Personally, I think Ennis would not have found the courage to make things happen. Had Jack not forced the issue, things would have remained unfulfilled.
And yes, I can't. ;)
Well, some think that Jack was more used to drinking, therefore before FNIT he could stand while Ennis was crawling. ;D I believe that like many other points about the movie, this one is also not clear, but your theory would be closer to Jack's target - drunk Ennis and seduce him easily. :P
I also believe that Ennis wouldn't be brave enough to make ANY move to come closer to Jack. I'll try to find that thread, I believe that it would be interesting to read some posts.... :*(
I would think that both of them at this time was pretty much used to drinking. :) It was only later that Jack used drink to forget his problems and deep frustrations. But as far as capacity is concerned, I think they were even. We shouldn't forget that Ennis also spent a great deal of time in the later years in bars drinking -- he met Cassie in such a situation, in fact.
Yes, I think in terms of making the first move, I can't see Ennis doing it.
I think many of jack's sexiest scenes have to be about those eyes....when he was trying to control his horse before going up to the mountain, I played it in slow motion and giving Ennis the eye seemed to go on forever....the eye of a needle...as in watch out.....for me.....
When Jack was singing before FNIT, he looked pretty much drunk, his talking was not clear. By the end of the evening, he got up and brought Ennis a blanket, while Ennis was crawling... hm... so maybe Jack had a bigger capacity and was planning to make Ennis drunk. Bad bad Jack! :P ::)

I thought he sang too well to be drunk. And he was very cute in it, BTW. ;)
That's also correct. One can not sing that well if alcohol is talking. But as I remembered in SS Jack had tried to sing a song which end up as a failure, so he choose another song... hm.. was it like that? :s)
And YUP! He was cute! As cute as can be! And sexy! Especially after Ennis made the confession! :P
If I recall correctly, you do get that impression from the mention in the ss. I thought that it was given slightly more prominence/significance in the movie.
Cutest:His little laugh when Ennis says that if he had been lucky, that harmonica had been broken in two.
Sexiest: His glance to Ennis when this one enters into the tent in SNIT. Is sooooooo difficult not to "enter into situation" with a glance like that, even if you are straight like Heath ¡. :d)

Yes, all of these are VERY sexy. I've already mentioned the unbuckling before. But all the others are quite delicious, actually. ;)
I already said it too - the more I watch FNIT, the more sexy it becomes... (t)

Well,we can be so,but; isn't true what he had done just before sleeping like a baby? %&)
Well, the headache was more a hangover, than about anything that had to do with the sex. ;)
Yes, his really contented look the morning after was cute AND sexy -- and priceless. How could have Ennis found the will to leave the tend and go for seconds, after seeing that face?
Well,we can be so,but; isn't true what he had done just before sleeping like a baby? %&)
I said that the headache was convenient for the next time when Jack suddenly pull Ennis's hand over.... but Ennis had changed his mind and went for it himself! :d) (t)
Ennis didn't see his face in the morning, only his "back"and didn't even dare to look at it, after bursting into the flame the night before! :P ;D
Also true. But perhaps he should have looked at it and given Jack a big wake-up kiss. It would have been hard to resist, after seeing his face! :)
And now when you mentioned it, it sounds so (t) (t) (t).
I don't have a headache... maybe I could give a big wake-up kiss to Jack! :d)

;D
He really looked like a contented child the morning after...
Who wouldn't? :-X
#) #) #)
Even after he wakes up, with the slightly anxious look on his face, Jack is still so cute and so so vulnerable. I guess he was afraid to see whether Ennis would try to deny everything that had happened...
After a night like that one ::) :P, it is always awkward to face the other one .... :iEspecially after turning back on him... >:D

Some people may not agree with me here, but I did find Jack's look in the scene by the mountainside with Ennis to be quite sexy...
Well, when it comes to "Jack" and "sexy" in the same sentence I always agree! :P
Jack Twist is the synonym for sexy! :i
And he is quite irresistible in those scenes where he is both vulnerable and disarming. The scene by the mountainside is one such example...
He looked like someone who had a trouble controlling himself. I think that not only that he eagerly wanted to make love to Ennis again, but he seemed very emotional there, which made him look very very sexy. Still he had to hold back coz of Ennis's cold words. Yet, inside of him there was a hope which proved to come true! <^(
I actually thought that Jack showed extraordinary self control in that scene. I suspect that Ennis would have shown a lot more anger and frustration had the tables been turned.
As I remember, here I had said that despite being more talkative Jack knew when to hold back and keep silent. :s)
Now I have a new idea - Jack would've made things easy for Ennis either side. He wouldn't put pressure on Ennis as Ennis had put on him on the mountainside.
Yes, even though Jack had been accused of being the much more talkative one, it is in the telling moments of his falling silent that we get to really appreciate how much he cared for Ennis and was sensitive to his (Ennis's) feelings.
Well, I think that it was more about Ennis being dismissive of Jack in many instances (rather than any pressure placed on Jack by Ennis) that is most telling. Don't youi agree? In many instances, Jack simply refused to push and just fell silent or left things where they were...
Sure, I do agree. In their conversations Jack always pulled back while he was still in the very safe area with Ennis. Never pushed to the risky part of the relationship, that is - until the FC, where he loosened his strings completely.
But on the mountainside scene I feel that Ennis's way of approaching and talking to Jack was a kind of a pressure to Jack. It is possible that Ennis felt his own pressure about the thing that happened between them and wanted to transpose that burden to Jack in a way... :s)
I think I know what you mean about the scene bu the moundtainside. Ennis seemed to be dictating things at that moment -- giving Jack no choice.
BTW, did I already say that I find Jack's pensive look in that scene so cute and sexy? ;D
Ennis even didn't look at Jack, but turned his back on him, and his voice was not friendly or pacific at all. I think that Ennis maybe wasn't aware of his attitude. Yes, it was a pressure to Jack, but he dealt with it very good as always.
Hm... :s) maybe you already mentioned how cute and sexy Jack was in the scene, but so many posts were lost so it was worthy repeating! ::)

I think Jack answered the best he could under such circumstances. Was he devious in his response? Even if he was, his "hard" far-away look certainly had an appealing element -- enough to melt you and win you over. :)
To be honest, Jack won me over long before this scene! ;D But, as I once said - in this scene he was also adorable coz during his "defense" from Ennis's cold attitude, he was also anticipating the next night in tent, don't you think? .... ^-^
That's true -- he looked cute and sexy the moment he appears on screen. ;) Am I biased? ;D
;D
He always looks cute & sexy ::) #)
Not to mention YUMMY! #)Above all,this¡ :d) (t) :d) (t) :d) (t) :d) (t) :d) (t) :d) (t) :d) (t) :d) (t) :d) (t) :d) (t)

Not so sure if it had been mentioned before, but Jack's face and demeanor was expecially cute the moment he got off the bull at the rodeo. He looked like a kid who had won a game -- or a kid who has pulled a prank and expects to get away with it! :)

Maybe it has something to do with his father and the fact the he succeeded in his area. :s)
That's a good point. It's one of the rare moments we see Jack succeed in an endeavor and watch him relish the moment so openly...
Yesterday I was watching on Youtube Jake's interview for Italian TV. He was talking about Jack and the way he was treated by others... it was a little disturbing for me, have to say.... :( So, I think that he was like a happy child for every success in his life, hoping for the better treatments and respect from others. In this particulate case, it was a way to become more important in his father's eyes....
Yeah, he was cute, but the reasons are not so cute...
:\'(
This is perfectly said. He is so cute and truly beautiful in those moments of vulnerability when we see him like a child putting down his guard/defenses and just being perfectly happy. Another instance of this is the beginning of the scene where he first meets Ennis after the divorce. He could not have been any happier -- nor could he have been ever more vulnerable to the hurt that was about to descend upon him...
Yes, there he just slammed from the cloud to the hardest pain. The more cute and sexy he is in those moments, the more it hurts to see him in pain. :\'(
It's rather a mixed bag -- seeing him in those situations. Remember the parting with Ennis in 63? I know that LJN loves this scene easpecially and I am not surprised. He was particularly attractive in this moment of greatest vulnerability. Not a pleasant scene to watch, but he was quite attractive in it, nonetheless...
It is the magic of BBM - incredibly beautiful and sad at the same time! We are eager to watch it and to feel it even it hurts unbearably... :-\\
I completely agree with that¡ And we love to see Jack in all his beauty, mainly when he feels sad and vulnerable, because he's more charming then...

Charming, yes! But he can also be very deep/profound/moving in those scenes, without meaning to -- at least intentionally!
But especially charming are those scenes where we see him almost like a little kid -- as someone without guile. He is so lovable in those moments. He reminds us of a certain untouched innocence.
Yes,because in the end the BBM Jack was really an older boy,who played to be experienced in a childish way. <^(
WE see this very much in his attempts to "impress" Ennis early on in 63? No? I find these scenes VERY cute and even sexy! And certainly very funy. There is something about his clumsy attempts that completely disarms you. Ennis must have been smiling deep inside -- he was probably puzzled, amused, and touched all at the same time. We feel the same way, I gather...
Like the first morning, dealing with the low startle point filly - his glance back to Ennis is SO precious!
