Brokies, I will be the lucky one to get a real hug from LuvJackNasty in a few hours.

We have collected your thoughts and will be bringing them with us to the place and light candles. We need you and you know you will all be with us.

Hugs to each one of you.  :ghug:

Thank you, Ethan and Michelle.  It means a lot to those of us who are so far away, to have you both there as our emissaries.  We couldn't ask for better.   You're helping us all feel a much needed connection to Heath right now.  %)

Friends, their estimate of the time to start lighting candles was a good one. Ethan and Michelle have been to the Brooklyn location and are on their way to SoHo now. It's so nice to see everyone banding together today, from our various corners of the world. :ghug:

:ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug: to everyone. I wish I could do more to comfort you and ease your pain, but of course each of us has to do that for ourselves. In whatever way I can though, I am here for you, and it has brought me comfort knowing you are here for me. :ghug:

Please try to remember through all of this that the very reason we mourn so deeply is the same reason we have this strength to draw from. Heath, and Jake, and everyone involved in making Brokeback Mountain, brought us together, taught us lessons we'll take with us through the rest of our lives, and led us to this amazing community where people from all over the world, of all different ethnic, social, religious, economic and personality backgrounds have formed one family, based on love, respect, compassion, and acceptance. This is a gift that he gave to us, this is a way that he will always be with us, and this will, I hope, help us to heal as time goes by.  :ghug:

FlwrChild, this is just beautiful.   :\'(  He did help build this place, and we will keep it strong for him and cherish the gift he gave us.  :ghug:

MY CANDLE IS ALREADY LIGHTNING...

REST IN PEACE,HEATH
Ennis’s eyes gone bright with shock, mouth opening then closing again. “Love?” Ennis said finally, voice strangling in his throat.

Jack smiled sad. “Yeah, Ennis. Love.” Leaned forward and kissed Ennis’s temple, whispered, “What’d you think it was, all this time?”

Dear friends -

I have no candle here with me to light.   Instead I'll post words to a haunting song, of death and dreams and brightness gone to soon.

Gentle Heath, may you rest peacefully in the light of candles that burn in remembrance of you.  :ghug:

Bright Eyes
Art Garfunkel

Is it a kind of dream,
Floating out on the tide,
Following the river of death downstream,
or is it a dream?

There's a fog along the horizon,
A strange glow in the sky,
And nobody seems to know where you go,
And what does it mean?
Oh, is it a dream?

Bright eyes,
Burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
How can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

Is it a kind of shadow,
Reaching into the night,
Wandering over the hills unseen,
Or is it a dream?

There's a high wind in the trees,
A cold sound in the air,
And nobody ever knows when you go,
And where do you start,
Oh, into the dark?

Bright eyes,
burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
bright eyes.

Bright eyes,
burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

Oh Missy, those words are so beautiful.  :\'( :\'( :\'(

I am going to light my candle, I may be late but I wanted to share in this very special moment with everyone.  Ethan and Michelle, I want to thank you for doing this for us all.  It makes me feel so close to everyone to know that this is happening in the name of this wonderful place.  :ghug:

As I am at work, I'm unable to light a candle, but I am with you all in spirit.  Missy, that song brought me to tears once again.  I still can't believe it; I don't want to believe it.  How can he be gone?   :\'(

We will be going to the apartment in Brooklyn first and then to SoHo. So probably around 3 pm. We will be taking all of you with us. Thank you for all your heartfelt messages.

If you can, please join us to light a candle.

This is so perfect.  You two are the BEST!  It is "around 3 pm" right at this moment as I type.  I will have some moments of silence as you light our candles...

I lighted my candle few minutes ago.

Sweet Heath.. you're always remebered.. :\'(
The most difficult scene was the paragraph where, on the mountain, Ennis holds Jack and rocks back and forth, humming, the moment mixed with childhood loss and his refusal to admit he was holding a man.

- Annie Proulx -

From the vibration of the floorboard on which they both stood, Ennis could feel how hard Jack was shaking.

Beloved Heath,
I know God loves you, so that he took you to Him much too early... I know you are in a better place now, full of love, sun and peace. Though, I can't stop crying, I can't stop thinking of you, I can't stop missing you. Because you changed my life, you changed myself. With your words not spoken, with your eyes full of love, sadness, acceptance and hope. You made me find out that love does exist, no matter of the color of the skin, no matter of the gender, no matter of the age, no matter of the distance. You made me find out that love is a force of nature. You made me belive in love, in the genuine one, in love as the only universal truth.
There are no words to thank you. I only hope God will know how to tell you now all these.

Always remember you. Always miss you. Always love you.

Thanks ethan.

I can't read the text, but the tiny cowboy hat and boot are so sweet. I've seen Heath in other movies, but he'll always be Ennis to me.

I've just been watching Ravenus' "Hasta Mi Final" on youtube. It's always been one of my favourites, but it just seems so much more poignant now.

Large was his bounty, and his soul sincere,
Heaven did a recompense as largely send:
He gave to Misery (all he had) a tear,
He gained from Heaven ('twas all he wished) a friend.

My candle is lit (it's 3:44pm eastern time here in Jacksonville, Florida).

I wish I could post a photo:

It's a tall white pillar candle, and with it is the cream-white cowboy hat I got while in Wyoming last winter, and the Wyoming State Flower, The Indian Paintbrush (bright red with soft, bud-like fuzzy petals).

Ennis Del Mar is my hero!

I have no candle to light, either, but as Ethan and Michelle are there, with notes of love from us, I feel like am there with them in spirit.
We will love him for as long as we live, and beyond.  He was that worthy of being loved.

Beautifully put.  ^f^

And Michelle and Ethan feel us there with them. I've text messaged to tell them we're lighting candles here as well. It's wonderful to see the pictures of our individual candles from around the world.

I've just read these words on http://www.legacy.com/SFGate/GB/GuestbookView.aspx?PersonId=101716459&PageNo=1 and stone in my throat and tears in my eyes came back:

«I was first enthralled by your wonderful acting in “10 Things I Hate About You.” Heath, there are so many things that so many people have loved and will continue to love about you. The anticipation of seeing what you would do next is palpable still and long after “The Dark Knight” debuts, our anticipation and wonder will remain … an unfulfilled mystery. We will go back again and again to view cinematic images, to remember, to memorize, to celebrate, to cry, to smile, to give thanks for the gifts you have given. Your gentle heart and your exquisite humanity will be missed forever.

Death is not the victor, Heath, for your light yet shines. In death, your light shines the brighter and will not dim. You gave so much of yourself, and now you sleep. We grieve and are forlorn, and forewarned yet again of our mortality, of the foolishness of taking our lives for granted, of taking moments of pure pleasure for granted – such moments are what you gave us, Heath, as your friend, director Ang Lee poignantly testifies. My heart breaks over your passing from our lowly realm, Heath, yet it lifts at the memory of your smile. I send my deepest condolences and prayers to your family and friends.

Watch over Matilda, Heath – you do indeed live on in her. You battled victoriously and scaled mountains! Goodnight, sweet Prince.
Meia W (Cleveland, OH)»
