And sometimes I think that maybe I should'nt have a tattoo at all, because the memory is so painful as it is, so do I really need this constant painful reminder on my body? Even without it I can't stop hurting every time I think about him. I just don't know...

That's exactly what happened to me Keren. I had something in mind that reminded me of him, I had originally designed it in reference to Ennis & Jack, then it transformed into Heath after the loss of him.

But where I am right now, thinking too much makes me hurt....an actual visual reminder etched into my skin...I'm just not in that place yet.

I know how you feel Jess... I've been thinking about having a tattoo for a long time, and I still haven't done it because I have mixed feeling about it. At first I thought about having a tattoo just like one of his own - like that celtic thing on his wrist, or the leaf - something that was uniquely Heath. But I don't want people to ask me about it all the time. Then I heard about the heart tottoo and I was so moved by that, I think it's such a beautiful gesture... and I thought about doing it in a private place that isn't so visible, like above my heart. But I don't know, I should have the original drawing for that, and even if I copy it from Lily Cole's photo I'm not sure it's gonna be identical. And sometimes I think that maybe I should'nt have a tattoo at all, because the memory is so painful as it is, so do I really need this constant painful reminder on my body? Even without it I can't stop hurting every time I think about him. I just don't know...

It's wonderful,Emelie¡ It's just what we feel, even if someone tells us we must let it be... :c)
Ennis’s eyes gone bright with shock, mouth opening then closing again. “Love?” Ennis said finally, voice strangling in his throat.

Jack smiled sad. “Yeah, Ennis. Love.” Leaned forward and kissed Ennis’s temple, whispered, “What’d you think it was, all this time?”

My friends and I do not just weep.
It’s not only a somber vigil that we keep.
We celebrate our memories
And share our smiles and tears.
We honor one we care about
And will throughout the years.
And on the days it hurts too much,
We always know we’ll find
A shoulder to lean on,
An ear to listen,
A loving and open mind.
A heart full of love is not a bad thing
And friends who will share that
Are a wonderful blessing.
So thank you my friends
for the gift of your love,
and telling me here I have nothing to prove.
It’s so nice in these times to not be alone.
I cherish you all, and this beautiful home.  :ghug:

Keren, I totally understand your feeling, that's why I have not been keeping up with Heath news lately until now that the reviews on TDK begin to appear.  I am not a tattoo person but I really love those who had made or will make tattoo which relates to Heath, but I also understand why you are hesitant about it now.  In any case, do what your heart tells you.   :ghug:

Thanks, yb. I'm not a tattoo person myself either, I don't have any, and this is the first time I feel the urge to do something like this. I just feel that if I do it, it will be a connection between me and Heath.

Aren't we at the stage these days when it just doesn't ... matter? It's a story of love and it's a story between two people. If people can't get over that and just accept it as a story, then that's their problem. I'm big enough and brave enough to do it. - Heath Ledger on doing BBM

That is so true, exactly what's going on.  No way is our grief over Heath's passing just quietly easing into the corners now.  As I said in Heath the Joker, his phenomenal performance is so powerful that it can't help but shoo away my sorrow, for a while anyway.

Hi sportstalk23,

Yes, I'm sure we all remember exactly where we were when we found out, it's our Kennedy, or our Lennon experience for us.

And yes, I always thought that too, that he was part a the next generation about to come forth and take the Hollywood reins. There are so few actors that actually deserve that chance, and contain that ability of talent and presence. But at least he left behind a unique resume of work. There are actors that act for 40 years and lack the list of incredible characters that he created in less than 20 years of acting.

I agree Jess. Even some of the A-list actors have a spotty resume when looked at by the law of averages - the learning they did along the way before they really hit their stride or the lesser roles they had to take to earn their shot at the good stuff. By putting his priority on the craft and the learning experience instead of on the potential for success, Heath created a resume that you would be hard pressed to find anything even average on, much less in any way lacking. The characters that he played and the performances that he gave were consistently superior and still absolutely unique, each in its own right.

This is one of the reasons I've always thought that he and Jake were so well matched to play these parts. They both have the ability to completely become their characters and they have both always been willing to go wherever those characters required them to go. Many times, I've thought, almost disconcertingly. It is a rare quality indeed and only one of the reasons we'll miss him so much. :ghug:

Reading all the rave reviews of his performance as The Joker make it harder for me. I'm so proud of him when people say how brilliant he was there and predicting him another Oscar nomination, but every time after I read one of these reviews the pain gets worse, and I just feel so sad and empty. I miss him so bad.

Ok, bear with me. I think this is going to be a little garbled. I found some videos on imdb today and one of them was from the 2006 AFI Awards. I'd seen this footage before and settled in to enjoy it again. It's funny and sweet and I was laughing and  smiling. It was five minutes in before I realized there was a tear in my eye as well. The point being that this is how it happens so often, for me anyway. It just sort of sneaks up on you, even in those moments that you're just enjoying the memory or celebrating his spirit. And it's not a big display, and it doesn't ruin the moment. I think it's just an indication that you cared about him and your body has the instinct to still feel those things and express them even when you're not consciuosly aware of it. I don't know if that made any sense. It's just the thought that popped into my head when I noticed it. Then the rest of the video was a little more bittersweet so the tear fit right into the tone. This it the link:

Then I watched the next video that was posted and now my little tear turned into a big puddle. It is beautiful and heartbreaking. I'd recommend tissues. I'm sorry if it hurts, but I couldn't not share it.  :ghug: to all. Thanks for listening to me ramble.
